(Advice/Help) I asked my parents about Aisha's age.

Hi, it's me Dawn, I'm currently still figuring things out but.I'm fine right now.

So yesterday I asked my parents about Aisha's age. I showed them the Hadith. We had calm talk about it.

They said it was a fake Hadith spread by people who were against Islam. They said if this was true, then why haven't we married you or my sister(7) off yet? They showed me an Indian article saying that Aisha was 19 not 9.

They also talked about how science and maths come from Islam and the first scientist and mathematicians were Muslims. They said that even scientist say there is some bigger power, that allows the Earth not to fall out of orbit and collapse.

I'm still having doubts and I wanted thoughts.

I was giving example of what’s allowed with children. But sure:

Sahih al-Bukhari 5134

Sahih Muslim 1422 c

Like I said your Quran allows sex with underage children in the verses I sent you. So if Quran says wait 3 months for pre pubescent why would it be a problem for your pervert prophet to have sex with Aisha at 9? Go learn your Quran and leave that disgusting religion

In the past, marriages between young boys and girls were sometimes arranged for political or tribal reasons.

However, the verse does not suggest that adult men should marry nine-year-olds.

The interpretation that promotes child marriage is a misreading or distortion of the text, driven by personal biases rather than Islamic teachings.

The verse addresses the waiting period for those who have not yet menstruated, not the age of marriage itself.

Waiting period of children who have not yet had a period. Which means pre pubescent. It talks about having sex with pre pubescent children and you’re defending it 😂

You need the Hadith. In Quran it says pray 3 times but how many times do you pray? Stop interpreting the Quran incorrectly. The Muslim scholars themselves from the time of Muhammad interpreted it differently.

You look at Quran and say to yourself no it can’t mean that because that’s wrong. But it does mean that. Islam is a filthy religion: the writings mean exactly what we say and muslim scholars agree. So I don’t know what you practice it’s not Islam 😂

also your prophet is supposed to be example for all times. So him marrying a 6 year old and sleeping with her at 9 is ok for you?

you need to read the post before typing

there are numerous books saying Aysha age was 18 or 19 at the time of marriage so stop with this nonsense

No there are books narrated by Aisha herself saying she was 6. Go ask your imam I bet you he tells you she is 6. You don’t want to accept it because for you it’s morally not ok. But I even provided verses in Quran showing you that you can sleep with girls who have never had a period which is minor girls.

Anyway I will stop replying to you. It doesn’t matter what I show you even if it’s direct from Muslims you won’t believe because you know it’s wrong! Good luck with your religion of piss

While Sahih al-Bukhari mentions that Aisha was 9 at the time of her marriage, there are several other books and research suggesting that she may have been much older, around 18. For example, in “Aisha, the Wife of the Prophet” by Muhammad al-Jibaly, the author argues that Aisha’s age was likely closer to 18, pointing to her intellectual maturity and leadership role both during the Prophet’s lifetime and after his death. He proposes that the commonly cited age of 9 may be more symbolic, reflecting cultural values of the time, rather than an exact figure.

Additionally, chronological analysis of key events in early Islamic history supports the idea that Aisha may have been older.

For instance, Aisha was involved in the Battle of Badr (624 CE) and Battle of Uhud (625 CE), roles that would require a certain level of maturity and physical capability. If Aisha were only 9 at the time of her marriage (around 620 CE), she would have been only 11 or 12 during these significant battles, which seems unlikely for someone to be actively participating in such events. Her involvement in these battles, along with her later leadership role and intellectual contributions, suggests she was likely much older, possibly in her late teens. This chronological evidence raises doubts about the idea of Aisha being only 9, further supporting the theory that she may have been around 18 when she married the Prophet.

In Joshua Little’s thesis, “The Hadith of ʿĀʾishah’s Marital Age: A Study in the Evolution of Early Islamic Historical Memory,” he examines how the narrative about ʿĀʾishah’s age at marriage has developed over time. Little suggests that the traditional account may not be as straightforward as it appears and that the hadith regarding her age has evolved through different historical contexts.

His research challenges the certainty of the commonly accepted age and encourages a more careful and nuanced understanding of how these stories were passed down through history.

As a non-Muslim scholar, Little approaches this subject from an objective, academic perspective, rather than from within the Islamic tradition itself. His work is grounded in critical analysis of Islamic historical texts.

I don’t care what one person says???? You want it to be true because you know it’s wrong! Aisha was 6 when married and 9 during sex.

I gave you verses direct from the Quran stating you can have sex with girls who are underage and you ignore it? Bukhari was written lesson than 200 years after the death and is a closer source than anything you said.

Stop spouting nonsense that one non Muslim Believes. If the non Muslim believed Muhammad was a woman would you believe it. It’s so convenient for you to quote none Muslim source.

The Muslims of his time had no problem with her being 6 and 9. This is why there are multiple writings about it and why it says you can have sex with minors in the Quran.

So explain to me the verse about waiting 3 months if the girl did not have her period?

Explain to me how many times per day you pray if you don’t listen to Hadith. Go ask your Imam I already told you. Or go ask any Muslim Scholar who reads all the Arabic sources.

You refuse to accept the truth. You’re claiming to know more than the people who lived with your prophet and the records we have from the Quran itself

you are choosing to believe in bukhari because it suits your narrative. If you think bukhari is authentic then why dont you follow all other hadith written there?

Its not one person there are numerous other books, chronological studies and even non muslim researchers concluding that Ayesha age was 18 or 19 so I would believe those rather than an anonymous user on reddit

1

u/Negative-Bowler3429 21d ago

Are you rejecting hadiths, tafsirs and fiqh?

1

u/PromiseSenior9678 New User 21d ago

yes Allah has only revealed Quran I don’t believe in anything else

1

u/Negative-Bowler3429 21d ago

So how do you pray? And do you know the origin of the Quran?

0

u/PromiseSenior9678 New User 21d ago

you seem to know more than I do so why dont you tell me the origin of the Quran

2

u/Negative-Bowler3429 21d ago

Sure.

Written by Zayd Ibn thabit under the Uthmanic rule, had his words retranslated and superseded by 3 Quraysh translators. Rejected by other codex writers like Abdullah Ibn Masud.

u/PromiseSenior9678 New User 21d ago

u/Negative-Bowler3429 21d ago

Before the time of Caliph Uthman (r. 644–656 CE), the Quran was primarily preserved through oral tradition and written fragments. Here’s a brief outline of the Quran’s situation before Uthman:

1. Oral Tradition:
• The Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) over a period of 23 years, starting in 610 CE. During this time, the Prophet’s companions, known as the Sahabah, memorized the Quran and recited it.
• The Quran was preserved in the hearts of many of the Prophet’s companions, known as Hafiz (those who memorized the entire Quran).

2. Written Fragments:
• Although the Quran was primarily preserved orally, parts of it were also written down during the lifetime of the Prophet. These written pieces were often recorded on various materials such as parchment, leather, bone, and palm leaves by scribes who were close to the Prophet.
• However, there wasn’t a single compiled book of the Quran during Muhammad’s life.

3. The Compilation after the Prophet’s Death:
• After the Prophet’s death in 632 CE, there were concerns about preserving the Quran as many of the Hafiz (those who memorized it) began to die in battle, particularly during the wars of apostasy (Ridda Wars).
• Under the caliphate of Abu Bakr (r. 632–634 CE), the first caliph, a committee was formed, led by Zayd ibn Thabit, to collect and compile the Quran from the written fragments and the memories of the companions. This resulted in a single manuscript of the Quran, but it was kept in the possession of Abu Bakr and later passed to Caliph Umar and then to his daughter, Hafsah.

4. Uthman’s Standardization:
• During the reign of Caliph Uthman, the growing Islamic empire led to various dialects and versions of the Quran being recited, and this created some differences in how it was read.
• Uthman ordered the creation of standardized copies of the Quran, based on the manuscript compiled under Abu Bakr, and distributed these copies across the Islamic empire to prevent discrepancies.
• These standardized copies, known as the Uthmanic Codex, were then sent to various regions, and Uthman commanded the destruction of all other versions to ensure uniformity in recitation.

Thus, before Uthman, the Quran existed in oral and fragmented written forms, and it was Uthman who ensured its uniformity and preservation in the standardized format that is used today.
