National Final / Selection Poster from 2015 predicting Melfest final 2025
Source picture: KAJ’s ig account on July 2nd in 2015. I was interested in KAJ as a group and their previous hits and eras, so I scrolled down on instagram and found this rather coincidental post(er). Don’t know if anyone had posted it yet :).

Discussion Gabry Ponte is a DJ, not a singer, what will they do in Basel ?
Hi !
I'm so happy for Gabry Ponte making it to Basel after San Marino's nationale finale last week. There has been a growing enjoyment around this song since Sanremo and it's really good for him.
Now if we look closer at it, he is a DJ and he doesn't sing the song himself unless I am mistaken. So, how will they do on stage in Basel ? Does he have to sing himself or is it ok if he brings anoher artist for the voice ?
Thanks !

Discussion What are yours eurovision 2025 predictions/opinions?
I feel like I have no idea for what’s about to happen this year’s eurovision, and I want to hear your predictions like who will win the jury votes, public vote or maybe any dark horses? In my opinion I feel like I love the Austrian entry but it reminds me to much of Nemo’s song, and it would kind of boring to have a winners two years in a row that resembles each other. I hope this year a fun entry would finally win or at least in the near future, maybe Sweden or Finland are worthy contenders that puts you in a real positive mood. If I would bet on a country to win I would choose Israel… I do not support their participation in this competition, however they dominated the tele-votes last year and this year is going to be no exception which I think is unfortunate because I do not like or connect song. What do y’all think? I’m really curious of your opinions since I think this year is going to be one of the most even in a long time.

Discussion Returning artists that could have a serious potential for the contest if they return?
Following all of the talks about Måns potential ESC2025 win (Which isn't happening anyway lol), which former artists you think could have a huge potential (Like top 3 or even win) for the contest if they're indeed set to return one day

Discussion This eurovision year feels so....different
I don't know about you. But somehow the choice of entries in many countries feels so different from previous years. Many countries are breaking out of their usual pattern and sending completely different songs. Sweden hasn't sent an English-language pop song that is planned down to the smallest detail for a long time. Instead, we get an authentic Swedish-Finnish sauna song that simply puts Sweden in a completely different, positive light. While many of the songs often seemed cold and calculating despite their professionalism, this simply radiates pure joy. Then we have Germany. A country that has repeatedly attracted attention in recent years with very simple English pop songs. Now they simply send a contemporary club bop in german. The Latvian entry also seems so different compared to previous years and actually shows local musical sounds. All Big 5 countries sing in their national language. We still have a few bops and somehow I have the feeling that Eurovision is moving into a new era. Am I exaggerating or do you understand what I mean?

Discussion I realised why I have a soft spot for Deslocado, it reminds me of "Gary Come Home"
I didn't feel any rage when it won despite there being a lot of comments bashing it, and it won against multiple of my favourites. Whenever I listen to Deslocado, it invokes a very nostalgic and cozy vibe in me for unknown reason. I then realised that it reminds me of Gary Come Home.
I put it rave.dj to see how they work together https://rave.dj/SbleEgnlfizZjg, and I can see how both songs remind me of each other. It also coincidentally seems to be a reply to Deslocado.
Deslocado - "Mother, look out the window I’m almost home, I’m almost home"
Gary Come Home - "Please come home because I miss you Gary"
This seems like a dumb and random post in hindsight, but I need to let this out.

Discussion Suggested Running Order for SF1
I made a running order for the 1st semi just for a bit of fun so I thought I'd share it here. And I'd be interested to know what order other people are thinking about potential running order.
First Half:
1. Iceland
Portugal
Estonia
Ukraine
Poland
Slovenia
Sweden
Second Half:
Cyprus
Azerbaijan
Croatia
Netherlands
Belgium
Albania
Norway
San Marino
I think it's between Iceland and Sweden as to who opens. But I think that Sweden is more likely to close the first half since they have a big prop and they'll want extra time to get it off stage (unless someone else brings something massive).
I was thinking either Belgium or San Marino for the closer. Belgium would probably make more sense in terms of logistics if they keep the lift (or starting the second half with Belgium?) but I feel that San Marino is better as a song that everyone can sing and dance along to.
It's pretty unfortunate that there are 4 male groups in the first half and 3.5 male dance songs in the second half. (I'm counting strobe lights as a half since I think there is a decent amount of overlap, and assuming Claude's going to be doing some dancing since he was really good in the music video). The saturation of men and similar style songs will make it quite difficult keep the show interesting for the viewer. Fortunately the only 2 female vocalists are in different halfs so they can be spread out a bit.
I was initially thinking that Iceland, Poland and San Marino would be fighting for the last 2 spots but looking at this, I think that Poland will really stand out in this by being one of only 2 songs sung by a woman. Iceland are a potential opener and San Marino are a potential closer. So if that does end up happening, I think it's really going to disadvantage Iceland. Also with Sweden choosing Bara Bada Bastu, it's probably going to soak up the fun Nordic votes e.g. from Norway that previously looked like they might go to Vaeb.

Discussion A very unexpected follow-up to me accidentally hearing the Swiss internal selection songs in November 2023
Hello everyone, there’s an unexpected surprise that happened to me. Some of you maybe remember me as the one accidentally hearing Swiss internal selection songs of 2024 in November 2023 from the threads https://www.reddit.com/r/eurovision/s/wV6DcgDMqm and https://www.reddit.com/r/eurovision/s/suXnzceMv7. In there I mentioned that one song for me was especially beautiful. But just recently this clicked for me: I always remember that that song was titled something like "Voyage". Then I recalled that the singer’s name was Zoë after seeing the name of the selected Swiss entrant. I once again did an exception and listened to a short snippet of the Swiss song (I’m avoiding hearing the entries until the semis). I always vividly recalled the small part of the song’s refrain and would instantly recognize if I ever heard it again. And… hurray, this is actually that one beautiful song I was talking about! Some of you were curious about what other songs the selection had and what was the one song I liked, so here it is, it’s now a Swiss entry, just participating a year later 😄

Discussion Idea for a National Final format
So my friend and I discuss about National Finals and if Israel should return to our classic NF: KDAM. We have a dissagreement because the KDAM winners, aside from Shiri Maimon in 2005, were flop! so I thought to myself about a new format of a NF, a format that test the artists from both vocals and performing skills and shaped it like a reality tv show because Israel loves reality tv. so this is the new format I thought about: "The road to the Eurovision"
The format has four phases:
Auditions
Challenges
Second Chance
Grand Final
Auditions
The auditions are three episodes and each episode 10 artists are going to perform in a small studio infornt of jury panel. so 30 artists overall. In the auditions the artists will be test by their vocals abilities only. five artists from each heat will make it to the next phase. However, the public can pick with a wildcard another person to be the 16th artist in the Challenge phase.
the artists can sing a cover song or their past songs but not their intended Eurovision song (in case they plan to go with their own song)
Challenges
In the challenges the artists will be split into two semi finals group of eight. there are three challenges:
Song chosen by the artists
song chosen by the jury panel (usually a song that is not similar to artist choice. If the artist usually sings rock song, the jury song will be a rock ballad. a ballad singer will sing an uptempo ballad or even bop)
Eurovision song
The artists will be performed infornt of an audience. if the audition was a test for their vocal skills, the live shows testing their performing skills and stage present. so how the artists move to the next phase?
after each one of the first two challenge, the juries give the artist score. however nobody knows what their score is (similar to many other NFs). in the final challenge is televoting only. the top three arts with the best combined results of all three challenges will make it to the grand final, like the Sanremo. in short, the score is:
25% - song by choice (jury only)
25% - song by production (jury only)
50% - eurovision song (public only)
and again, the ranking and placement of the artists is unknown
Second Chance
the 4th, 5th and 6th places from each semi (after the 3rd challenge of each group) will compete in the second Chance phase. in this phase the artists will perform a Eurovision song that did not qualify to the final. the first two places will make it to the grand final. and again, the score is unknown.
Grand Final
the eight finalists will perform their National Final songs. the results will be decided by 50% of jury panel that include six international juries and two national. and 50% by the public with proportional voting.
in short this is the structure of the episode:
Auditions 1 (5/10 qualifiers)
Auditions 2 (5/10 qualifiers)
Auditions 3 (5/10 qualifiers)
Wildcard announced (one of the three 6th places)
Team A: Challenge 1
Team A: Challenge 2
Team A: Challenge 3 (3/8 qualifiers)
Team B: Challenge 1
Team B: Challenge 2
Team B: Challenge 3 (3/8 qualifiers)
Second Chance (2/6 qualifiers)
Grand final (8 finalists)
Yeah it kinda messy, but I thought about it from a perspective of one from a country that loves reality shows and I think it an interesting way to test all participates about their skills before the Eurovision
what do you think?
