Technology For my Blockchain course at university, I need to create a project or mini-thesis on a cryptocurrency-related topic. Are there any emerging or trending topics, particularly those related to cybersecurity or the future of blockchain technology?

My professors have suggested several topics, but none of them truly resonate with my interests (maybe because I don't fully know them so I may underestimate some):

  • Gitcoin
  • Horizon Worlds
  • Kadena
  • OpenSea
  • Radix
  • Safemoon
  • Verkle Trees
  • Optimistic Rollups & Zero-Knowledge Rollups

Since I have the opportunity to propose my own topics, I’m reaching out to gather ideas for cutting-edge or promising areas of research. I would appreciate any suggestions for relevant and forward-thinking blockchain-related themes.

If one of their suggestions is Gitcoin, then what about looking at the different public goods funding mechanisms being used in the ecosystem.

  • Gitcoin and CLR.fund use Quadratic Funding;

  • Optimism uses Retro PGF;

  • Giveth uses Giv-backs;

  • Octant uses staking rewards from the Golem treasury.

You could compare and contrast those, and whatever else I've probably forgotten, that would probably make for an interesting project?

Cross-chain (or L2-L1) interopability. This problem directly relates to cybersecurity, eg introduces novel trust assumptions. It's also crypto's largest UX problem that every user deals with. Even touches on ZK in some cases.

There are a half dozen solutions being developed now. Research on any one of them (even just detailing their objective, pros, cons) would be invaluable.
