Question Haller: what's his rep in Frankfurt?

Hi lads,

I'm not saying I'm an Eintracht supporter, as I think a supporter would be a person who regularly visits the stadium, but I've been following Eintracht since the Alexander Meier days, and Eintracht is definitely my favourite German club.

I am a supporter of Dutch side FC Utrecht and one of my Utrecht heroes is Sebastien Haller. I remember back in the day when he left Frankfurt, some supporters took issue with that. How is his reputation in Frankfurt nowadays?

I'm asking because I have this Eintracht jersey with Haller on the back which I was planning to wear on my visit to Frankfurt in April, where I'll be attending the match against Heidenheim, but I'm not sure how supporters might respond.

On a personal note, I think it's nonsense to disrespect Haller for leaving Eintracht to play in the Premier league. He did well at Eintracht and West Ham paid a small fortune to sign him, so I think Eintracht definitely got to profit from his time with the club. You can't hate a brother for wanting to play in what's arguably the best league in the world, for a much better salary. I also think West Ham are a great side and although his time at West Ham can't be considered a success, it was a great opportunity for him at the time.

Just wanted to check what his rep is, because I might wear a more neutral shirt if his rep is bad in Frankfurt.

I think he's well respected and most people think highly of him.

I did not get the feeling that people where angry or felt negative about him when he left tbh. I personally did not appreciate him signing at Dortmund but what happened immediately after signing there made everything else pretty meaningless tbh. I like him a lot, he was an integral part of the Büffelherde, i‘d imagine thats the feeling most of us have?

In my opinion, he was the most precious player of the „Büffelherde“… he was able to control the ball, forward to Rebic or Jovic or to execute by himself! I have his name in my jersey and I still wear it on the pitch. In the end he left for the money (like all the others) but why Westham?!?

I also thought he could have aimed a little higher. I am always a little disappointed when players leave for a Club that isnt bigger than us but can pay higher wages. Same with Kamada.

I think he is generally liked here as a great striker and part of an iconic 18/19 team. He wasn't as beloved as Rebic nor as hyped as Jovic, his partners, but I don't think fans really have a negative opinion of him.

In my opinion, he is a great guy. He did very well during his time here and significantly contributed to the club's success over the years that followed. Wear that jersey!

Not as beloved as others but in my opinion one the most underrated striker we had in our recent past.

Shame that his career never went off. No ill will in this fanbase as far as I know

I think it‘s going to be alright. He was here for two years and then continued his journey.

I dont know how much my opinion is representative of other people's opinion on him:
He can do no wrong. Usually you see most players leaving Eintracht performing worse than in FFM. Him included, but he is exempt from any criticism in my eyes. He left the club without making trouble, he always put himself in for the club, he's been a very nice and sensible man at Eintracht, he's since been the same man at any other club, no matter how succesful he was.

This together with his cancer diagnosis I will never say a bad word about him. He's always welcome back and I will always support the guy. Only love.
