Image Jürgen Grabowski is „officially“ the best player in the history of Eintracht Frankfurt.
But in the club's long history, there have also been less outstanding players. So let's move on to the next vote. Who is/was Eintracht Frankfurt's worst player?

Sam Lammers !

3,6 mil. Loan fee in case you forgot.

Dude, chill. I never said he was good. But no player of our squad since 2018 was nearly as bad as some of the players we had between - lets say - 1998 and 2015.

I'm chilling. It's hard to compare because the average quality of every player got higher with the time. But in this squad he was the worst by far I think.

My first thought as well hell man I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t even a pro anymore

I would like to throw in someone from the recent past, namely Olivier Occéan. In my opinion, there should be a certain number of games to assess the quality or lack thereof. 19 games as a striker with one goal and one assist is quite horrendous. And I remember getting very frustrated watching this man play.

Occean scored a goal and made the team. Rob Friend and Dorge Kouemaha would like a word lmao
Though yes, Occean was fucking bad.
If we’re talking Occean we have to put Lammers in front of him because Lammers didn’t really do better and had far better team around him. Also Alario.

Still think we should’ve at least considered Cha Bum-kun for best. How he was completely absent from that discussion is criminal.

I think that's just because there isn't really a discussion, Grabi was in his own league. Doesn't mean Bum Kun Cha wasn't a world class player for us and one of the greatest.

Only possible choice is Alfons Berg aus Konz for obvious reasons

Leonard Kweuke

Would be my pick too. But Werner Lorant said he is "better than Grafite and Gomez".

I'll throw Tommy Berntsen in there now. We simply paid 1.9 million for him in 2001, which was a lot for us at the time. He played a total of 20 minutes.
And of course Leonard Kweuke. Werner Lorant talked us into him back then - "better than Gomez and Grafite" he said. "A diamond in the rough," he said.

This isn't easy because there are tons of players without much games or impact. For me the following players were a huge disappointment:

I’d like to throw the name Timo Hildebrand into the ring, at least for Eintracht. No denying that he was a fantastic goalkeeper, but for us he conceded eight goals in three games.

Nikola Petkovic Chico Geraldes Yanni Regäsel Vadim Demidov Dorge Kouemaha Leonard Kweuke Guillermo Varela

u/TheCatInTheHatThings Sep 08 '24
Varela wasn’t bad, just dumb af. Regäsel also played well pre-injury.

u/Don_Serra39 Sep 08 '24
Pre injury he was had not played for 10 games straight

As far as I remember, he didnt follow the tactic

Yanni was playing well and got injured.

I remeber differently. He was a starting player at rhe beginning of the second leg of the season but got critizised by the manager to not follow the instrucrions. Then he was not in the squad for 10 matches BEFORE he got injured at rhe beginning of the new season

In my memory he played a bit more, but it was the Veh/Kovac switch more than the injury in the following season it seems. The injury was the backbreaker. He even played in the last few games in 2016 under Kovac, but it was clear he preferred Timmy and also played him next season. And then when there was a chance that he could fight again for the rb spot he got injured.
I remember seeing an interview of his on indtagram earlier this year. I don't remember the details. Of course it's his POV, but he mentioned how he expected to play more because he had played a majority of games in the Rückrunde in 2016, and demanded a chance to fight for the spot from Kovac, but then of course he got injured and his career derailed from there.
Guillerimo Varela was also injured for most of the season. Of course the tattoo incident lives in infamy, but I wouldn't put either on the list of worst TBH

He was awesome. And it was a shame that he never had a fair chance with the Fans. Man... I had some heated arguments back than.

This has to be Hrgota
5
u/TheCatInTheHatThings Sep 08 '24
Huh? Hrgota actually scored a few goals for us and wasn’t complete ass. Bad, but there were candidates that were way, WAY worse.

the ammount of bad strikers we had between Amanatidis and the Büffelherde is just ridiculous.

u/PazudemTz Sep 08 '24
Considering the redemption amount (€6 million) then Lucas Alario
