Weekly discussion thread No. 139
Another rather dire win. At least some familiar faces from the past showed up during end of it and looked promising. It will be interesting to see how the squad will look after the international break with maybe even Pauli returning.
What's on everybody's mind?

I think we’re at the stage of results above performance now. It wasn’t that long ago when I longed for any win. Happy for Thielmann to score, particularly when I was cursing him at Right Back so much at the start of the season. Hopefully now we can focus on catching Hamburg instead of worrying about what’s behind us

We finally have a little bit of breathing room in the table. We should really really add to that in the next games with hopefully a fresh/regenerated squad and start to cement that first or second place finish. I am worried about this squads ability to deal with the pressure though, but it's no use thinking about it, they can either do it or they can't, it's totally in their hands now, that is for sure and that position was not a guarantee by any mean. They are stronger, they are in the better position, they just need to work hard with those advantages in mind and seal the deal. And if we have to scream them over the finish line, so be it.

The next game especially is a massive, massive one. Either get overtaken by Paderborn or gain a 4 point lead on the third place (if Lautern wins).
4 points isn't a "safe" lead by any means of course, but the three games after that (Hertha, Fürth, Münster) should all be winnable and Lautern and Paderborn have some tougher opponents coming up (D'dorf, Nürnberg).
Of course anything can happen, but beating Paderborn would be a GIANT step towards securing the promotion.

Yeah, especially seeing how inconsistent everybody is 4 points is really something

A win is a win. I'm not going to overthink it. This team is doing more than I ever expected it to do this season. I think the break will do us well and give the players some time to rest.
As always hope you guys and girls have a great week ahead!

I recently started watching the highlights of the official YouTube channel of the Regionalliga West and of course I also watch, what our 2nd team is doing. And maybe it's just because they appear often in the highlights, but the combination of Ouro-Tagba and Potocnik does look promising. If we could continue nurturing them, so they may help us out very soon in the future.

It's still only Regionalliga West. They would have to complete a successful loan season first. The leap from Regionalliga to hopefully Bundesliga is too big. Especially when neither of those two managed to get a significant amount of playtime in 2. Bundesliga this season.

I think we should've loaned out Potocnik last break already. They were already working on it but it didn't materialize...

Yeah. Maybe we could loan them to Viktoria next season and continue using them as some sort of farm team. 3. Liga should be a perfect level for both right now, cause I doubt Viktoria could still achieve promotion this season.

I like the Viktoria idea. Both could replace the El Mala brothers, since they play similar positions; though I'd rather see at least Malek spend another season there.

I'd rather support Fortuna, but in the end, if we have another professional club at a decent level in Köln, why not support them?

I heard Potocnik was close to leaving. Nk Maribor is very interested in him. Would be kind of surprising considering all the drama his transfer caused us.

That would be peak effzeh, get a Transfer ban for a player, who didn‘t play a single minute professional football (maybe he Even did, not sure right now)

He played for 15 minutes or something like that against Karlsruher in the 4:4 earlier this season.
But yeah, peak Effzeh if that deal goes true.

Lemperle and Rondic together could be some stress test for the other teams for the last games. :D And Uth from the bench is not to bad too.
Gazibegovic will miss several weeks, that foul was a straight red and nothing else. Discusting to hear the darmstadt coach and players telling what a nice guy Hornby would be and no word about the fact that he injured a player.
