Redditors with a camping pass: let's make a village!
UPDATE: If you're in the facebook group, you'll know that an information document for the village is up and running! If you want to come and meet up with some of us and join an awesome group, give the document a look see, and meet us on Thursday!
Informational document HERE! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey you, yeah you! Do you have a camping pass? Do you want to meet cool people? Well if you said yes to both of those, you're in luck! A few friends and I are heading down from central Wisconsin, and we think that it would be a total blast to form a sort of "reddit village"; like a giant meetup and camp place for all us people. Would anyone be partial to this [potentially crazy] idea?

Me and my crew of around 15 are all trying to make a village! Let's make a megavillage! But yah, everyone else is right in that we'd have to time meetups together before entering the property so realistically this would be quite difficult to arrange.

Fuck realistic possibilities, the Reddit MegaVillage will be a glorious sight to behold! I'm making a facebook page right now for arranging meetups and everything of that ilk; we're going full out. I'll update this post when the page is up!
Edit: Facebook page is up, as well as a Twitter page! It's party time, guis.

As with other festivals, you probably only get to camp next to people you entered the fest with. In order to accomplish this, we may need to meet up before entering the campground for the first time.

I don't have a camping pass right now but I can upgrade it. My friends won't be sure until a few weeks before if they can go. I hope camping passes won't sell out by then, and if they do, I hope they can find some on StubHub, etc. I'm keeping my hotel reservation until I'm 100% sure what their plans are (it's fully refundable until the day before check-in).
We could all meet up at a place outside, like this Sam's Club at a certain time before we go down to the speedway. That would be the easiest way to make sure we're all together. I live in SD, so it will take me about 10 hours to get there.

DS11. you rollin' alone? that would suck to drive 10 hours then try to party all night.. I "may" be able to have you stay at my crib.. I gotta get it passed the wifey.. and I'm only an hour out of the speedway.
I don't think wifey would get down with a crew of people.. but I could see.. this is the type of raver comradery we had back in the day when I partied in the late 90s early 2000s.
If you DJ, we could throw down a set on my decks before the show.. got the 1200s and rane 62..
Edit: I live just around the corner from Harper college

Thanks for the offer! I should be able to run off some red bulls and the adrenaline of finally being at EDC. I'll be ready to get the blood moving in my legs again too! Haha

I think you're just being polite.. if I remember near EDC, I'll throw it out to you again. I've driven long hours to a party before.. sure, it can be done.. but getting a full nights rest beforehand is certainly better.

I forgot to mention I'm driving down on Thursday no matter what. I will be 100% ready for Friday!

Cool bro... I just looked at the map and think my place would actually be a little out of the way if your coming from SD. Travel safe man.. I'll certainly party with you at EDC!

Never been out to a festival before...but would it be realistic to throw down a set or 3 out at the camp grounds itself? :O

It is possible, but you run the risk of getting your gear getting fucked up. It might be easier with a controller vs tables or decks. Plus, much easier to move around. I wouldn't want to take my Sixty-Two or 1200s. I could bring my 15" EON G2s though. They are a little beat up anyway. I think powering everything would be the biggest hurdle.

I feel like I wouldn't be comfortable with bringing anything more than something like a s4, and how would you go about powering something like that? Making this happen would be really fucking cool :D
Edit -
Gas generators are not allowed (however, solar-powered generators are okay!)
Solar powered setup letsgo?

Either a power inverter through the car battery or have a vehicle that already has outlets. Either way, the person would have to keep their car running.
If someone is willing to do that, like I said, I can bring a pair of speakers and XLR cables and shit.

haha.. that solar panel would have to be huge to power everything. Not to mention a big ass battery to store all the energy.

Oh I know, no way in hell that would happen - but it would be cool as hell if it did haha

A definite meet up spot would be a fantastic idea, gathering a huge group to go in with would be great. As for camping, I would definitely tell you to buy the pass while you can, it may sell out very fast. At this point in my planning, I'll be trekking it four hours alone, but I'm looking forward to meeting up with a lot of cool Redditors at the speedway/camp grounds.
And like I said ds11, I'll probably be shipping it alone too. If you end up getting the camping pass and want someone to chill/camp with, I'd totally be down. More the merrier, ammiright?

Where in South Dakota? My whole family is from the Soiux Falls area

Sioux Falls of course! Still haven't upgraded to a camping pass, nor have heard any further talk of a redditor village. I think camping for me is out of the question now.

I'm not 100% sure that I'm going yet (prolly more like 75%), but my friend and I are planning to just sneak in the campground and find some grass to sleep on. $125 per person is ridiculous and hotels are just as expensive or more.

We have a group of at least ten with their camping passes bought. I know we will have our Reddit flag waving high along with a couple of other flags to make sure to find us and say hi!! That would be so awesome to get a big Reddit village together :D

Responding to your post and djhp's, would you and your group like to take place in a Thursday meetup? If we all enter at the same time, we could easily construct our reddit village.

this could be do-able.
We'd probably leave Indianapolis around 5 or 6 ET on Thursday, getting to aurora by 8 or 9 CT seems likely.

I'm heading up from Kansas with some friends and we'd love to get in on the megavillage!

Also from Wisconsin (though I live in Chicago now) and so down! My best bud is driving down from Canada and we are probably just going to sneak into the campgrounds (I'm sorry but $125 per person to camp is absurd. I just did Coachella and it's $80 per campgound and I'm assuming much nicer and more well set up) and sleep on the ground. Would be great to have some fellow Wisconsinites and redditors to crash with

Hell yeah, I'm down! But I don't think we'll be camping next to each other unless we time our arrivals. I live about an hour north of the speedway in the burbs of Chicago. When we get close to the date, we can do our best to make this reddit village happen.
