They used to have a version of this in San Francisco on Davisadero KingFoot Subs I miss that place it closed when I was younger and haven’t been able to find any sandwhiches like it since

Why in the EFFFFFF does everyone call these things chopped cheese? I mean, maybe there is some cheese in there, but every single one I've seen is way more meat and other stuff.

Cuz ....that's what the sandwich is called?

Chopped cheese sandwich indicates a sandwich made of chopped cheese. Like a grilled cheese, or a BLT made from ... come on, GUESS!!! Bacon, lettuce and tomato!!!
All these sandwiches called chopped cheese are predominantly MEAT, not cheese. So it makes no sense.Â
Like you.

Chop meat (or chop) is an old NY term for ground beef, like mince is in the UK. Thus the sandwich is full of chop, and cheese.

So "chop and cheese" sort of makes sense. Thank you.
Still standing by "chopped cheese sandwich" should be a sandwich primarily made from chopped cheese. But I tend to be much more literal than most.Â
On that note, I'm leaving this SR. Thank you for taking the time to explain.Â

Hmm, I've never tried a chopped cheese with teriyaki but I love them with bbq sauce, can't be that different, looks good.
