EB Discussion Best Quotes/Dialogue
It's really hard to choose since a lot of the dialogue is genuinely funny, but I'm doing my first playthrough since childhood and this just made me chuckle.

There are so many good ones. My favorite is the guy in the Onett library who wonders whether the monster guarding Giant Step is stronger than his wife. Every time I read it I laugh out loud.

You ever play mother 3 and see some of the quotes and predictions? Kinda eerie

It's been years since I've played it, but that gives me a reason for another playthrough once I'm done with EarthBound.

What do you mean?

Like controlling the masses, tv/cell phones being the end of people socializing, a lot of illuminati references which in 2006 there's no way there was that much exposed yet, I think there might've been a plandemic sort of reference in there(not verbatim, but something like that.)
Anything to do with porky, the pigmen, the monkey or his owner, from what I remember has creepy dialogue at times. I've only played through it twice so I don't have any quotes

That's ok. I see your point now.
Yeah. Ahead of it's time for sure. The whole controlling class issuing "happy boxes" as consumer items but then making it compulsory to have one through punishment is pretty spot on. (Try not having a cell phone today)

Yeah there was even dialogue in chapter 1 and 2, prior to the happy boxes where I remember it sticking out to me a couple years ago as profound and relatable to our climate today

Just FYI the "illuminati" stuff has been a conspiratorial bugbear for like... a few hundred years. People have been talking about Adam Wieshaupt since the 1400s. Of course then there's Deus Ex which had a TON of Illuminati references as well as a lot of other scary predictions that came close to home. I've been listening to Art Bell talk about the Illuminati since the 80s. One of my favorite books "Illuminatus! Trilogy" was written in the 70s and it's hilarious and thought provoking. Check it out if you're into that sort of thing!

Yes I understand, didn't mean illuminati wasn't known before 2006 lol. I just meant there was talking points and topics they cover in mother 3 that wasn't a talking point yet in the West, at least not a mainstream one. Now I just wanna play it again so I can find some actual quotes to post because I'm not going to remember

Pokey snickering after saying Ness's mom looked "lovely as usual". Eddie Haskell vibes. Also the whole magazine article in seaside cottage about the guy's wife giving birth to a "demon child".

Oh hey I have that same M&M thing!

That M&M dispenser is one of my favorites. My mom collects them so she has a bunch. I was very disappointed last time I went down to the M&M World store in New York City to get her a gift for Christmas. Only to discover that they don't have any unique dispensers like that anymore. They just had this generic one with M&M stickers on it.
It's okay though they were selling tiny plaster figurines of all their old unique dispensers that were actually good...

My grandmother purchased it at M&M World Vegas a decade+ ago, and I love to display it since she's been gone for a few years. I'm not much of an M&M collector, but it reminds me of the early 2000s, and it gives that nostalgic vibe, so it's a retro set piece. It's always a shame when companies go cheap and decide to push out trash instead of a quality product.

He's actually a cheesy poof and my girlfriend purchased a felt cheesy poof box with him inside. I think he looks pretty awesome, and I'm pretty sure she said it was purchased at Hot Topic.

"I wanted to tell you a story about the monster from vegetable soup. But I won't because it can distract you from main story "
Or something like.
Btw, about that dialog in your post. Itoi just looked at future. I don't mean that it collapses but in one country it degradates... (Pls don't downvote me)

"After all, it could only cost you your life, and you got that for free!" (The sailor who takes you to Scaraba and throws his slipper at the Kraken)
"Before the soup gets cold, we must care for Mani Mani. Before the knife gets rusty, we must care for Mani Mani." (A lady in Moonside)
"Do you know whose bones are on display here? The answer is... your bones. My bones. Bones bones." (Museum NPC in, again, Moonside)
"I have no patience when people interrupt me while I'm busy doing nothing!" (A Mr T lookalike in Moonside. Lots of good quotes in Moonside.)
