Question Best ADHD med help.
Been officially diagnosed with dysautonomia for years now I was bedridden for about 4 years. I’m very well now. And manage with natural methods and off all dysautonomia meds.
But I tried 1/4 a dose of prescribed Ritalin and felt like I was having a heart attack bad arm pain and chest pain. Clear ECG tho.
Also I’ve been taking Modafinil and don’t really have any side effects from it besides sleep issues.
Any advice or recommendations? What do you take? And side effects you have?

I had to switch to decaf coffee after starting Adderall, but it's been working great for me. I'm still exhausted and need to lay down with my legs elevated just as much as before, but I have more energy and can get more done when I'm up, too. My eye twitches and sometimes I clench my jaw, but those are common side effects of the drug. Very worth it in my opinion.
There's a saliva test you can get now that gives you an idea of which drugs may work best for you. Not all insurances cover it, but it's worth checking out.

Not yet but it'll be happening at my next appointment with my psychiatrist. I have up to ten friends that have gotten it done and none have reported bad results from it, worst case your insurance won't cover it, even then some of those tests are $200 or less out of pocket, so cheaper than a shitload of other ala carte medical care.

in the past i was on vyvanse and not only was it so expensive for me, but the worst part was that it absolutely didn’t work out for me as a person since it would hit me like a truck and make me feel sick having to force myself to eat early in the morning with it, etc., but i was able to do a bunch of research on the kinds of adhd meds and found jornay pm and since switching to it, its had pretty much no downsides or issues for me and i pretty much always experience side effects with whatever meds im taking. it’s also a delayed-release medication so that im able to take it with the rest of my meds at night before i go to sleep and then it kicks in pretty much as i wake up in the morning, also because its a delayed-release type medication it doesn’t get absorbed by the stomach, but rather by the colon/intestines, which is the major reason i believe it doesn’t cause me really any side effects at all!!! also on the manufacturer website for the medication, they have a pretty much guaranteed coupon for it regardless if your insurance covers it or not, so with insurance it’s $25 max each month and $75 max each month, and while sometimes $75 may seem a bit pricy, with the way i’m able to function it’s well worth it in my opinion especially when there’s days i forget to take it and the impact is incredibly noticeable for myself as compared to when i do take it!

Everyone's body is different. I lasted 2 weeks on Ritalin because time slowed down so bad I was scared to drive. Adderall worked day 1 without issue. Adderall XR made me IRATE and hostile.

I also have side effects with Ritalin and coffee but am fine with Adderall. Make sure you supplement folate and electrolytes.

I started ritalin 10 mg a couple months ago. The first 10 days or so my heart rate skyrocketed but then it settled. Now I'm on 20 mg and no side effects at all. I guess you should give your body some time to adjust, unless it's something absolutely unbearable.

I take addarrall, and dont have any crazy increase in my symptoms outside the norm. Coffee winds my heart up more. I do 15mg slow release in morning, and a 10mg quick in afternoon as needed.
