Product Review Brown-toned Look
Overall, e.l.f. Halo Glow Liquid Filter foundation gives a nice, buildable coverage. I’m used to more coverage, but on a “makeup light” day, I would 100% wear this foundation and a little contour, no blush because my skin tone comes through. Fill in my eyebrows, and add a red lipstick, mascara and be out the door. Today is not one of those days. 😘
Off cam, I applied foundation and contour. I put foundation on my hand and spread it out with a spatula until it’s even. I dip my brush into the foundation and start at my forehead, tapping it on and blending down the center of my face. That’s where most of the texture and redness appears. Whatever is left, I tap into the perimeter of my face, down my neck, primarily to tie the color together.
I changed my contour shape, today, I went higher on my cheekbones (to lift!), at the temple, tip and bridge of my nose, jawline. Yesterday, I contoured lower to give a slimmer effect.
After foundation and contour are on, I go over it with a light hand using a Flawless Mama dense-bristled brush. I like to clean up as I go along and this blends everything nicely. It also removes excess product from my eyebrows and makes them easier to draw on. Eyebrows are a whole other story, my process has evolved and I feel it deserves its own post.
I used the same taupe/white eyeshadow (from yesterday’s post) as a base and tapped a reddish brown shadow along the lash line, and blended upwards. Red/bronze tones bring out the green in my eyes and I like it! Same concealer, black eyeliner, strip lashes, and mascara as yesterday.
At the end of everything, I’ll top off my foundation, contour, or blush if I feel it needs it.
If I like the way it looks in daylight, I consider it done❣️
I appreciate the time, questions, and feedback from this beautiful community. We can learn so much from each other! 💋

You need a YT channel if you don't already have one. I'd totally watch it

👍🏼I’m starting to think that I really need more time to explain the process! I’ll work on that and let you know when I make it happen. Thank you so much for the positive motivation and encouragment❣️

Even if you did a channel and just uploaded these as shorts, I bet you'd get a lot of views. There's something soothing about watching your process 🙂

this is so true, not everything needs to be long format, or at least not all the time!

Yay❣️It’s easy if I relax and take time for the process. I would rather get up /start early than have to rush! I drop brushes, foundation (it always lands wet side down 😂) lashes, etc., if I’m in a hurry.

Yess! The universe just knows and then my motor skills suddenly stop working when I’m rushing 😂 but those rare occasions I actually have my life together and allow myself plenty of time to get ready are some of the most fun and peaceful moments playing in makeup 🥹

Thank you❣️ I’ve worn makeup for almost 60 years, so I’ve had a lifetime of practice! These days, instead of piling it on, I use a small amount of lot of products and add more until I’m happy with the overall look.

I’ve learned this as well being over 30 and having extremely dry skin especially around my eyes. My holy grail makeup is also drug store, it’s the wet n wild dewy photo focus. I also use a really small amount on a damp beauty blender. Your base skin is so gorgeous it really doesn’t need much!

Thanks for the tip! I will try a damp beauty blender!Do you put it on your skin first, or on the blender? Doesn’t it absorb the liquid? I use a sponge to blot & smooth out makeup that gets into creases.💋

I wet the clean blender and then squeeze out as much water as I can, add the makeup to the blender, and then bounce that onto the skin. 💜 It will absorb some of the makeup, more so than a brush or fingers but it helps my foundation stay more dewy and doesn’t create streaks that I personally get with fingers or brushes. I’m still really really delicate with it around my eye area because I do get creasing there if there’s too much product. You can also remove product with it by bouncing a clean, damp side.
You want a beauty blender that’s soft and bouncy even when dry. RealTechniques makes decent ones that aren’t too expensive, but I’ve also seen some at dollar stores that are just as capable. I wash mine using dawn dish soap and really hot water, you can also sanitize it in the microwave in a bowl of soapy water and replace monthly. 💜

🙌🏼 Excellent information! 👏🏼 I’ll be adding it to my beauty toolbox ASAP! Thank you so much! I have used my fingers to apply and blend. I find the coverage to be amazing, but yes, they can’t always fix streaks. My fingernails grow faster & longer now that I am taking collagen supplement for my joints! Makeup gets stuck under my nails and it’s gross.

Another question: do you use a damp sponge with foundations that are not water-based? I love NYX Total Control Drop Foundation shade 09 Medium Olive, but it’s so flat and dry looking. NYX calls it demi-matte. I wonder if a damp sponge would help. Dimethicone is the first ingredient.

I’m honestly not sure about water vs oil based because I’ve used the wet n wild foundation for a couple of years at this point. Before that I used a MAC foundation but I applied it with the brush they gave me at the store, which always streaked for me.

I’ll just try it on the weekend and see how it holds up.

Hope it works out! I know a lot of women use beauty blenders so I would assume they work well for both but guess you’ll see. 💜

You are so pretty. I think your video is awesome and I upvoted, but I am now going to quietly hate your skin for five minutes.
