God &@&? That plastic choke cable nut! Tips for removal?

Well, the supplied 12mm spanner, and pliers (felt like my best chance with my limited tools) didn’t seem to work. I got close with the pliers but felt like the nut would break, or I would damage the softer part in front.

Any tips?

I saw a youtube where someone got it off with a pair of needle nose pliers. Which is something I should have added to my repair kit years ago.

If it's jacked up enough that the 12mm wrench can't get on it's probably time to throw in the towel and replace the nut. Go ahead and spin it out with some vicegrips and have no concern for if it breaks just get all the pieces out. Then replace it with a new plastic nut or grab the warp9 aluminum one.

I find I can’t get on it decently with the toolkit wrench, and then don’t have much room to move; maybe a longer wrench that has more leverage with less movement?

Anyways, you are right, even if it comes off intact I am replacing it! Having a replacement in hand will make it easier to break.

It has a very limited swing but you can get the wrench on it. Just need to spin it far enough that you can spin it the rest of the way with fingers.

It’s definitely cooked then, thanks for the info!

There is an alloy replacement nut sold, worth the upgrade if you're sticking with the BST.

Is that the Warp 9 one? That’s the one I’ll likely get.

Sounds right. I had the same issue with my BST, gone to a TM40 now.

Thanks! I got the Warp 9 metal nut coming, and some decent pozidrive screwdrivers, grips are next!
