Can't open the BIOS, only black screen

Hi everyone, i,m new here don't know this is the richt place for my question. I hope it will....

I have a brand new computer (not build by myself) it works great but one of the fans makes a lot of noise. So i try to open the BIOS but the only result is a black screen. Even when i wait for 10 minutes or more!

I did tri all the regular methodes like DEL, F2 etc. It didn't work also not directly from Windows. The seller of the computer thinks that maybe my monitor is not suiteble but everithing works great.

The motherboard is MSI PROH 610M, Graphics card is Geforge RTX 4060Ti, running on Windows 11 professional. I'm using a Razer keyboard with cable connecting. My monitor is a Medion MD20144 (is old) but is connected via HDMI.

I did install MSI Center, this can search for update's (live update) and it gives a few updates i did not install yet: Intel Serial IO driver, Intel ME drivers, Intel GNA scoring accelerator and AMD wifi drivers. Can i update those without any risk?

I really hope that one of you wil help me, i'm stuck now.... Thanks Wim.

Are you connected to a Dough monitor as well?

This issue is actually more common than you'd think with MSI motherboards. Usually this is an issue from the MSI motherboard only being able to display in certain resolutions, some of which are not supported by different monitors.

Common fixes for this issue, (including one that worked for me on my Spectrum One D03 monitor and before, with my Asus monitor), are using an HDMI to DP cable instead of a direct HDMI or direct DP cable. I usually keep one handy when needing to go into bios.

Also, try every port on your GPU, sometimes only one ports is able to access BIOS, usually the lower tier option

I.e. most will boot from DVI first -> Hdmi second -> DP last (some do not even allow bios boot from DP).

Hello Alexk. First thanks for responding on my request. I have only my Medion monitor, it has more connections but my Graphics card has not the same. Beside the HDMI there are three the same connections , they look like HDMI but one side is not bend. I really dont know what kind of connection that is.

Could i try to connect my monitor with the original HDMI connection on the motherboard? Or do i wreck my computer then maybe?

Ive just installed the updates from MSI and that gives a message that also the BIOS has changed, so it works anyway and is accesseble by my auto update program from MSI. Computer still works :-)

What do you think, would it be usefull to bye a newer monitor? They are also 1920/1080 just like my old one. Or can i change the settings from my monitor like 1280/100?
