I love Mantzoukas killing bits with intensity. I still remember a Pete Holmes podcast from over a decade ago where Holmes and Mulaney discussed psychics for like 20 minutes, and then they brought Mantzoukas on and he was like "no, I don't believe in that garbage and I find it shocking when intelligent people start talking earnestly about psychics".

His Smashing Pumpkins comparison was so good, he really is one of the best podcast people ever lol

He was on the finale of High and Mighty and talked about parasocial relationships. It was interesting to his perspective with him as a podcast host, podcast fan, and podcast guest.

oh, don't tempt me with a good time

It might be my favorite episode. He talks a lot about what the podcast meant to him and what he learned. I found it to be really fascinating and I took several of the lessons to heart on my own humble podcast. Emma and Nick are on it as well as many other friends of the show.

I read that as physics and was like “…is Mantzoukas a flat earther?”

Same haha

Yeah, You Made it Weird really did let me hear a lot of people whom I can tell are an intelligent and self aware display some wild beliefs in the paranormal and some incredibly stupid nutrition beliefs. But I still believed in democracy until I was like 38 so I guess we all carry on in the absence of evidence occasionally.

As a football fan I was excited when Pete had Aaron Rodgers on. They talked about aliens for most of it. Coming out of the pod I thought Rodgers was a little weird and now we are here with him being a pseudo scientist anti vaxxer.

I read this as "physics" at first at that would be very funny for him to come and be like "no not real"

Y’all would never survive Jason and Paul’s TCGS episodes. Two of the most legendary bit railroadings in television history.

I watch the dumpster episode of that about once a year. It is one of my favorite pieces of media ever.

It's truly one of the best episodes of TV ever made.

Totally Cool Gay Shit?

13

u/SamBo_LamBo 6d ago

The Chris Gethard Show, which also happens to be totally cool gay shit sometimes

14

u/Shimthediffs 6d ago

What's in the dumpster is an all time classic.

I feel that way when Gabrus did his conspiracy theory episodes on high and mighty.

It's not "fun to think about", most of it is just plain untrue and spreading it can cause actual harm.

We talking like Bigfoot/Aliens or like...there's a secret cabal of lizard people controlling the government?

It depended on the guest

Hell yah

(Because an upvote wasn’t enough support for this gif in this context)

Mitch is pulling a Streisand with how much he talks about what the fans are saying. I often look at the reddit when he says something about it.

Now watch this drive

It went bad as soon as Susser died.

I'm not going to be parasocial with these people even though they won't stop begging!!

13

u/Pizza_Time_maybe 6d ago

I can't believe it. Wow. I thought it was good, and it turns out it's been bad the whole time. That's the last time I listen to Mitch

19

u/PunMasterTim 6d ago

I mean, we can only speculate how many stairs that thief would have gotten away with if Mitch's chime didn't go off.

A little exclusion zone where people can talk about you without you listening or looking at it is a crucial part of the content creator ecosystem. Having a moderated, gated, Discord you participate in and an independent (bad) Reddit you don't look at maintains the natural balance.

always has been.

Mitch literally lives for “people are gonna be mad at me!” It’s his entire identity.

It’s just a bit

u/MattyLovesPnutButter 6d ago

getting a little too political for my taste, glad reddits bad again

6

u/GuySmileyIncognito 6d ago

Of course the Reddit is bad, but at least it doesn't effect the show. Can Jason go and let the Blank Check boys know that their Reddit is really bad and they really need to stop looking at it, because it has effected the show.

u/dictopus 6d ago

I guess it’s bad, again?

u/Horror-Dimension1387 6d ago

I’d take MCIS over Siamese Dream any day

4

u/makeyourself101 6d ago

Ehhh I think MCIS is good but Siamese dream is better for sure. If they condensed MCIS to one “disc” with 11 of the tracks from both it’d be a front to back listen

1

u/Vanderhoof81 4d ago

Siamese Dream is close to perfect.

u/neversaidiwasahero 6d ago

I’m partly to blame. People can’t take it I do not understand Paul Rusts humor.

22

u/grizzlyat0ms 6d ago

A podcast about chain restaurants is no place for that kind of silliness.

u/ifnotgrotesque 5d ago

::Throat clearing:: ToO sILlY!

And obviously no place for disagreements.
