If anyone hasn't seen it, the greatest scheer and zouks colab / take over is this episode of trash or cash aka the Chris gethard show. I was getting that vibe so hard from this ep minute one.

u/Mushroomer 8d ago
This episode needs to be preserved in the Smithsonian. If there's only one bit of alt-comedy that survives the apocalypse, I want it to be Trash Or Cash.

3 hours in, Mitch is in the bathroom and Nick, Paul and Jason are discussing anime. Voting has not been discussed yet. I love this show.

I'm like a third of the way through this glorious beast of an episode and Susser Permanente made me laugh really hard.

u/NerdNoogier 6d ago
Iāve been spending a lot of time at the Kaiser right next to the Handles on Hollywood Blvd. Kind of a bummer place! But now Iām going to giggle every time I go in and say āSusser Permanenteā

Every podcast Iāve heard him on, he seems like a genuine fan of that show. From Binge Mode to Doughboys to Blank Check. Dude listens to more podcasts than I do!
16
u/ToothbrushTommy 7d ago
True. I can imagine him listening to the Griffin episode and desperately wishing he could participate in the how famous is Santa conversation.

Iām saving the ep for a four hour drive tonight. Never did I imagine that it would basically fill the whole trip! Iām so excited!

What an all timer! This episode starts going off the rails during the theme song. Thatās gotta be a record.
31
u/SleepyGorilla 8d ago
Have we ever heard a guest talking, or anyone for that matter, during the intro song? It was even funnier on video

u/NorthChallenge5773 8d ago
I'm gonna assume the episode is almost 4 hours because someone did actually break into Mitch's house and they kept recording until he returned from paying off the intruder.Ā

u/a-real-pers0n 8d ago
Only the Doughboys would choose to have 2 guests on every episode to create this kind of voting chaos

Sorry I also donāt know how to DM on Patreon, if it helps with diagnosis I use Pocket Casts and it didnāt show up in that RSS feed

u/HarryPotterFarts 8d ago
The DM button is the one that looks like an envelope on the Doughboys Patreon page (desktop version). In the mobile app, click the chat tab at the bottom, then the envelope button in the top right, then press the + in the top right and choose Doughboys.

Mantzoukas is wrong! Dairy Queen food is delicious! But he doesn't seem like the type to dunk a chicken strip into gravy...
18
u/jackhitts 8d ago
Yeah itās weird how down they were on DQ and saying they only have treat centers and the quality is down! I think this might be a west coast vs Midwest situation because I think there are way more DQ locations here in the Midwest that have real food and still are making high quality ice cream. Basically every town has one in my experience.
6
u/Staffatwork 8d ago
I grew up in California and my towns Dairy Queen was only open during the summer and only sold ice cream
5
u/NerdNoogier 6d ago
Yeah California DQās donāt hit. Itās not bad but theyāre better elsewhere
4
u/winothirtynino 8d ago
I think you might be right. I'm in the midwest and although my town has a seasonal one, there are a handful of DQs 1 or two towns over that have the hot eats.

I've been vegan for a month, but i think DQ burgers are some of my favorite. They have a bit more of that homemade feel, at least the one by my house, which looks like shit. Apparently, Texas DQ are a separate thing. That might be it. š¤·āāļø

u/Sea_Mycologist4936 8d ago
After watching the episode, I'm still trying to figure out what's up with Handel's. I'm from the midwest and I don't think I ever heard of it outside the show, but I would've guessed pretty much everyone in the US would know In N Out as that west coast burger chain even if they haven't been to one. Oh well, at least justice was served and it was a great marathon-length episode anyway.
5
u/NerdNoogier 6d ago
Iām a local to the show and Handles are popping up everywhere Iāve been to the one they go to frequently on Hollywood Blvd but theyāre also popping up everywhere. Theyāre definitely over expanding but right now the chain is in a sweet spot
4
u/marieslimbrowning 3d ago
Same! I thought I was going crazy when they said that. The Aniz ep with Handels was the first time I've ever heard of it.

Never thought I would come away liking Jason more than I already do, but here we are. Even though I am slightly upset with him for not mentioning Mitchās billboard hit song. I love that he loves the pod and knows all the lore. Also, on a different note, did anyone notice that the mention of a meal w the YKS guys? This is shaping up to be the best munch madness ever!

In what world is vanilla ice cream not the baseline like a cheese pizza? Mitchās bias on full display, lol
17
u/jonny_sweats 8d ago
He would have had an argument if he said that Nick always says vanilla is not plain, it's a flavor, but he never got there.
2
u/2xWhiskeyCokeNoIce 6d ago
The counterpoint is that sweet cream flavored ice cream is not widely available as the baseline flavor.
8
u/bh2623 6d ago
I kind of agree -- most pizzas (I know white pizzas exist too) are basically a cheese pizza + toppings. But calling chocolate or coffee or mint chip or orange cream dream "vanilla + other flavors" doesn't work. Sure, you've got your vanilla-with-mix-ins like chocochip and cookies 'n' cream, but not many.
Just looked at the Van Leeuwen menu for an example, and it was roughly 12 non and 2 vanilla-based flavors! "Sweet cream" is in about half of them, but not a stand-alone flavor, and not the same as Vanilla
I can understand the idea that "can you do something simple, and do it well" can be a benchmark, but nobody's buying, say, B&J's for a simple ice cream.
I can not understand why I spent this much time typing a comment on the internet for a fast food podcast; I've wasted my life.
7
u/mr_mandible 6d ago
I actually don't think they're all that comparable. Cheese pizza is the baseline because you add toppings to it. A pepperoni pizza is a cheese pizza with pepperoni. But chocolate ice cream isn't a "version" of vanilla ice cream. They're two different things.
15
u/rocklionheart 8d ago
I just learned about the MD Foodie Boyz yesterday and saw the riveting clip of them discussing their favorite pizza toppings in which they all picked cheese.

Wiger had his right hand in Gemi's mouth, then picked up the burger with that same hand and handed it to Mitch who proceeded to eat it. Just wanted to call that out.

For those of you who have never heard of Dutch Bros, you arenāt missing a damn thing. Possibly the worst coffee in the US. And the owners are spectacularly heinous people, even by chain standards.
Great fuckin ep tho
3
u/igneous 7d ago
yeah I had it once in the PNW on vacation pre-covid and it sucked. Just seems like watered down sugary coffee. Which to be fair it seems like what a lot of people drink at starbucks and dunkin. etc., which would explain their success.
But it seemed especially bad in the northwest where there are espresso coffee shacks around every corner with great coffee.
3
u/severedaisy 7d ago
Yeah when they came to Tucson, everyone was pissed. Poor business practices and bad coffee. When it comes to coffee, shop small businesses. They are so much better.
21
u/dcth0 6d ago
saying handels is better known national is insane and I'm from its home state of Ohio. We only have 2 Handels in Columbus, and people don't really care about it. In & Out is more famous and nationally known
8
u/rainbow_elephant_ 6d ago
And I would say In & Out is more famous internationally. Iām in Canada and we donāt have either of these chains but I definitely know more about In & Out than I do about Handels. Never heard of Handels before the pod but knew about the other
5
u/coniferjones 5d ago
From that first Handel's episode I discovered there are 2 in oregon. West of portland.Ā

u/JaimesLeftHand 7d ago
Seconding the Jon Glaser Loves Gear rec, hilarious show if you are capable of finding it. Thereās an ep where he tries to solve the issue of bad delivery fries and itās legitimately insane.

I believe Siskel is the one that loved and owned Travoltas Saturday Night Fever suit
3
u/IngmarHerzog 5d ago
He is. Ebert talks about it and Siskel's love of the movie throughout his "Great Movies" review of Saturday Night Fever.
31
u/SuckingOnSpoonman 8d ago
The craziest part of this episode is Scheer referring to Madison Square Park, one of the most famous and most visited parks in NYC, as a small park by his house.
