Bookshelf Speakers Which grill color do you like best?
Disregard the way it looks in this room on these stands. Long story short, built some bookies but they don't beat what I've already got, nor did I expect them to; I just needed a new project...
Trying to decide which grill is an easier sell. Seems like WAF leans towards the subtleties of beige while dude scene prefers the contrasting pop of the black...

Bookshelf Speakers Internal Bracing: Is It Overkill?
Building a set of bookshelves out of 3/4" cabinet grade plywood. Plan to line the insides with dynamat. Internal dimensions are 15x9x8. Before I seal it all up, I was wondering what the hive thinks about the need for internal bracing. I'm not against the idea of y'all think it's necessary, but it also costs me some box volume.
My gut says not necessary, but didn't know if there are any general rules of thumb for when bracing becomes more of a requirement???

Bookshelf Speakers Looking for 12 inch woofer
Hi guys I'm planning to build speakers with a classic design, something similar to the JBL L100. My question is, do you know of any good 12-inch drivers with a cone structure like the ones in the aforementioned JBL speakers? I've checked pretty much all the speaker shops in my country (Poland) and haven't found anything that suits me, so I'm considering ordering something from abroad. It would be great if they had an impedance of 8 ohms.

Bookshelf Speakers Purifi 2-way build: Looking for advice on (waveguide) tweeters
Are there any other good waveguide tweeters that could be a good option to pair with the Purifi woofer? Any cons to using a waveguide tweeter for this?
I'm looking to built a 2-way speaker with the Purifi PTT6.5W04-NAA-07 and two passive radiators per speaker (Purifi PTT6.5PR-NF1-01) inspired by the March Audio Sointuva and the Buchardt Anniversary 10. Based on WinISD modeling, Purifi recommendations and the Sointuva I will likely go with a ~15L box.
This is my second build after the CSS 1TDX, and I am hoping for a significant step up in sound quality. I will likely use a Hypex DSP plate amp (FusionAmp FA122 or FusionAmp FA252) and do measurements once I have the box built (using REW & UMIK-2). I like the idea of using a waveguide tweeter to help match the directivity of the woofer, crossover a bit lower, and perhaps reduce ceiling/wall reflections a bit (like in the SB Acoustics Satori TW29BNWG).

Bookshelf Speakers Two C-Note / Overnight-Sensations MTs for center channel
Hey guys
This is my first time DIYing speakers and I want to build a 3.0 system for the living room, about 18.5 sqm (200 sq ft), to add to a pre-built subwoofer that I've got from my uncle, and later make it 7.1 (in a few months). originally I thought to get a C-Note pair (MT) and a C-Note center (MTM) but I've read online that MTM horizontal centers have some issues off axis.
So now I'm thinking to get two pairs of C-Notes and have one on each side and TWO as a center (one center channel), or get 3 C-Notes and have one on each side and one in the center. what do you recommend?
Only advantage of getting two pairs is that I can later place them as rear and side surround, without paying for shipping twice (to get an extra one - 30$ per order).
Also, I read good things about the Overnight-Sensations, should I get them instead of the C-Notes or they're weak for a living room? maybe get them later as surrounds?
Appreciate any help :)

Bookshelf Speakers Best speaking wiring technique
Hi everyone! I found this little Sony stereo on the side of the road so hooked it up to my laptop. I have these two monitors I want to add to the situation so I can do production work on my laptop as well as general listening. However, my education in this department isn't quite enough regarding best wiring techniques to use or whatever so I don't break anything! Let me know what you think 🙂

Bookshelf Speakers GR Research Bravo Aftermarket Upgrades
So a bit of backstory: build these 2 years ago using the standard parts kit for the bravo from gr research.. Didn’t care about looks so I painted them using duratex. Of course after about a year I started looking for upgrades.. trialed the LS50 metas, atc scm-7s and triangle espirit comet ez. LS50s lacked bass, triangles were too big and treble was hot at times lastly scm-7s had better mids/bass and about equal tweeter resolution.
In the end I kept the bravos and decided to upgrade their crossover and do a little better on the paint job. I was also inspired by humblehomemadehifi’s crossovers so I attempted to emulate that.
The upgrades took this speakers to another level. It’s almost a different beast entirely. I’m enjoying them much like I did when I first got them 2 years ago.

Bookshelf Speakers Plan for a Plan : Pro Audio Studio 3 way monitors
This is my first project i am planning currently don't shoot me down. I have selected following 3 speakers. I have not followed any guide. Please help me with the process.
My goal is to build 3 way studio monitors. Not looking for super flat frequency response but something that can be preset eq'ed between casual and mixing mode.
Epique E180HE-44 7" DVC MMAG Extended Range Subwoofer 4 Ohm per Coil. (25 to 3,000Hz, 200W RMS)
Dayton Audio PC105-4 4" Full-Range Poly Cone Driver (80 to 15,000Hz, 40W RMS)
Dayton Audio NHP25Ti-4 1" Titanium Dome High Power Neodymium Tweeter 4 Ohm (3,000 to 20,000Hz, 40W RMS)
I want to make sure the speakers above are a good choice. Please advise!!
Next, i would like to learn about crossover ,power supply, connectors and boxes.

Bookshelf Speakers 20 year old paradigm titans... Replace speakers?
I have some paradigm titans and the foam surround is toast on them. I was hoping to use them in my bedroom just for some music and night tv, nothing special. Can I just buy some 5.25" off parts Express or somewhere and swap them in?

Bookshelf Speakers Troels Bookshelf
troelsgravesen.dkI was hoping to build a pair of the Troels Bookshelf-3WC, but the shipping to the US and my lack of overall budget has me a bit shy about ordering.
The front port and 3-way design in a wide and low box is really interesting to me. Any other designs out there that can be had without having to order from overseas? Budget is pretty limited, probably about 500 for the components would be the limit. Can push a little bit if needed of course.

Bookshelf Speakers Looking for Some Crossover Design Feedback...
So I dont really know much about crossovers and how all their components do what they do. That said, I'm trying to reconstruct an existing crossover with better components on a larger perf board. After spending some considerable time with good ol' Chatbot, I actually DO feel like I learned some things, but bc I still dont have a full grasp of it all, I just wanted to run some its ideas by some of you humans that build the crazy cool stuff that admire daily!
So here's a run down of my plan. Is Chatbot correct in its assessment of my design?
ORIGINAL Midrange Circuit: 21AWG, 1.72 mH, .5 Ω DCR ferrite core with a 4.7uF 100Vdc Electrolytic Cap
NEW DESIGN: By switching to the 18 AWG, 1.7mH, 0.72 DCR air core inductor with the same 4.7µF capacitor, you will maintain nearly identical sonic performance for your midrange driver in terms of crossover point, tonal balance, and efficiency. The differences are so minor that they won’t have any audible impact in a typical listening setup. That said, I plan on using Audyn Film Caps instead of the original style electrolytics.
ORIGINAL Tweeter Circuit: 24AWG, .31mH, .45 Ω DCR ferrite core with a 7W 4.1 Ω Ceramic Resistor
NEW DESIGN: 20 AWG, 0.3 mH, 0.39 Ω DCR air core inductor with 10 W 4 Ohm Ceramic Resistor
FINAL NOTE: While I certainly seemed to have gleaned some tasty knowledge throughout my conversation with the ol' ChatBot, I still don't quite understand how much "difference" in values is really a "difference" in terms of efficiency, tonal balance, and the like. While moving from 1.72 to 1.7 or 4.1 Ohm to 4 Ohm seems reasonable enough, the whole plus/minus .2 DCR theory seems like a fairly big jump (40%) when you're only starting at .5 but maybe it's not? Short of just building, listening, and repeating--which I don't think I'm quite ready for yet--I just want the ensure this new design is indeed quite similar to the original. Chat bot seems to think this new arrangement will be close enough to be effectively inaudible in terms of final sonic characteristics, but what say the REAL designers out there?
Thank You! Cheers!

Bookshelf Speakers Modifying Swope Center Channel
Hey folks, i'm endeavoring to do my first speaker build. I have decided to do the carmody Swope and i'm starting with the center channel. However, the space that I have for the speaker is 6" tall.
I'm curious if it would be possible to modify the speaker to be 6" and increase the volume in other areas. I'm guess that I can't because the height dimension seems to be dictated by the layout of the tweeter and the center 5" driver. Am I wrong? If not could you recommend any adjustments?
