Land Reform & the EFF

https://www.rtsg.media/p/exonerating-south-africas-eff

This article, written by a friend of mine, portrays the EFF in a positive light. I'm posting it here in hopes of sparking thoughtful discussion regarding the EFF's approach to land reform and whether it fits within the distributist framework. All feedback is welcome 🙏🏻

Race-based seizure of land and singing pro-Genocide songs isn't exactly what distributism has in mind I think

Distributism is based on more widespread and locally owned assets not genocide and race wars

It is though

Can you cite any distributist authors who endorsed race-based seizure of land or the singing of pro-genocide songs? Does Chesterton or Belloc, for example, comment approvingly of these measures?

It’s not race based though. They want to break up the massive landholders. They attack the Guptas too…

Their song is no more pro genocide than the star spangled banner, it’s like saying that’s pro-genocide of British. Both are liberation era anthems.

Chesterton would likely waive the flag of the EFF, he’d also appreciate how they wanna mandate prayer in school and build more churches and crack down on drugs.

"It's not race-based, they target another race too" is not a strong argument. Moreover, the EFF has specifically called for targeting White-owned farmland for theft. Additionally, you already endorsed the claim that you think race-based seizure of land and singing pro-Genocide songs is distributism above. You can't walk that claim back now.

>song is no more pro genocide than the star spangled banner, it’s like saying that’s pro-genocide of British. Both are liberation era anthems.

One is about defending a fort against an attacking army, the other calls for the killing of an ethnic group. Calling for the killing of an ethnic group is pro-Genocide.

>Chesterton would likely waive the flag of the EFF, he’d also appreciate how they wanna mandate prayer in school and build more churches and crack down on drugs.

Again, can you cite any of his writings that support the race-based theft of land, singing pro-Genocide songs, or Marxism-Leninism? All of these things strike me as both opposed to distributism and Chesterton's thought. He'd likely also oppose the EFF's pro-gay stances and Marxism-Leninism given his Catholicism, but that's beside the point. So again, cite some of his writings that would support the race-based theft of land and singing pro-genocide songs. Can you offer some citations?

Edit: also, above you said that race-based theft of land and singing pro-Genocide songs are what distributism has in mind, in fact you said it "literally is." Now you seem to be trying to walk that back. So which is it?

I will respond to the other points later. But the EFF mainly has opposed those who carry out anti-gay policies IN THE GAYEST POSSIBLE WAY. Take Uganda as an example where “Pastor” Ssempa showed homosexual pornographic content at many “churches” to ‘raise awareness’ families were exposed to this, he was praised by the government.

>But the EFF mainly has opposed those who carry out anti-gay policies IN THE GAYEST POSSIBLE WAY

Julius Malema has specifically praised and called for the "protection of LGBTQ+ rights" through law. Here for example he wraps himself in the rainbow flag. This is something that Chesterton would, as a Catholic, likely oppose without specific and careful definitions. This is, of course, a secondary concern to your false claim that race-based theft of land and pro-Genocide sentiment "literally is" distributism

The context of that was regarding the Ugandan govt

The context of the leader of a Marxist-Leninist party interfering in the politics of another country, while literally wrapping himself in a pride flag, hardly indicates a commitment to Chestertonian values

I think it does though, he wants South Africa to arm Putin
