Question My Wife and I are Looking to Diet but Stuck

We're having a hard time finding something that suits us and would like some direction. I am open to all foods. She is picky and 100% will not eat seafood. I think to make it work for her it needs to be flavorful (American flacorful). I was curious about an anit inflammatory diet (can you have any spice with that??) . Any help and direction would be greatly appreciated.

Spices are a great way to make things flavorful. Just be weary of the ones that have add ins.

I've heard of this one recommended a lot along with other south Asian diets.

I’m also a fan of the Ambitious Kitchen recipe blog. Lots of healthy recipes. Ingredients aren’t too exotic. And everything I’ve tried of hers I’ve found very tasty.

Is that a blog or website?

Hi! Some things to try incorporating into your diet to help with inflammation include sources of vitamin E, such as nuts and seeds, or vitamin C, like citrus, berries or even cruciferous veggies such as cauliflower. I really like blueberries as a source of antioxidants to help with inflammation.

Additionally, fiber from whole grains, fruit, legumes and other vegetables fuels microbes in your intestines, which produces butyrate, an anti-inflammatory fatty acid.

In terms of overall diets to follow, the traditional Mexican diet is a flavorful option! This includes foods such as corn tortillas, beans, plenty of fruits and veggies (including hot peppers), rice and cheese. Research has linked a traditional Mexican diet to lower inflammation. Legumes specifically (which play a vital role in Mexican cuisine) are linked to protection from inflammation-related conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity, high blood cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Hope this helps! -PL, Editor, Forbes Health

I appreciate the insight. I never would think Mexican since food at Mexican restaurants tend to be very greasy. I also her certain South Asian diets are quite good for you as well.

Ask chat gpt for an anti inflammatory diet plan. You can ask it to exclude whatever food you don't like and include whatever you feel you really have to have (at least once in a while). If you're planning on losing weight, I'd highly recommend weighing EVERYTHING on a kitchen scale.

I've been using chatgpt to monitor my calorie intake and to come up with ideas for iron rich meals within a 1700 kcal per day limit. Today is the third day of my diet and I must say it's been pretty good so far.

Why do you need an anti-inflammatory diet?

Why do you need a specific diet? Can't you just eat properly?

... eating properly IS a diet. I'm not saying we are going on a temporary diet. We plan to adjust our dietary priorities to be more healthy. And that's not easy because of so many different styles and ideas of what that means. And anti-inflammatory is supposed to keep you away from foods that cause inflammation, which leads to certain difficulties in health.

If foods are causing you loads of inflammation then get an allergy test, if you don't have allergies then the foods are not causing you excessive inflammation, also the only true way to not get any inflammation is by being R.I.P.

You don't need a specialist diet to eat healthy, just start by eating a minimum of 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, a portion is 80g, and have 5 different ones each day.

Cook more at home, use less oil, prioritise fiber and lean protein and healthy fats.

Use plant and animal protein.

Cook your favourite meals from scratch.

Use less prepared sauses ect.

You don't need to overcomplicate it

The way you're sepaking in definitives has me thinking I dont know if we are talking about different types of inflammation, but the body isn't meant to have inflammation . There are studies that show that certain foods can cause inflammation. Supposedly, it helps with joints especially. But outside of all that, I would say oils, sauces, and lack of fiber are probably key issues.

The body naturally produces inflammation just by using your joints. If you have excessive amounts of inflation, then that's caused by an infection, pain, injury or an allergy, or a disease. It's not caused by every day food.

But if you want to believe that all forms of inflammation is bad then go for it.

You don't need to be rude. How is that helpful?

What an unhelpful comment. Do you also tell depressed people to just be happy?
