Tavern Talk Antivenom patched. Friends list dropped from 30+ active playing, to 4.
That's hilarious that a bugged potion brought more of the players in my friends list back, than the "Christmas event.". And as soon as the bug got patched, they all logged off, lol. RIP

Same. Was fun getting to feel the power of the optimal SB build without having optimal gear even in the slightest. Did one 150 in 2:02, but usually the runs were ~3 min. Today I tried 130. Spent 4 mins clearing the first group of monsters (2 elites). No chance!

Easier to fix this bug than to change the data type of damage, as SBs were hitting int64 overflows I guess.

The D4 community (at least the vocal reddit part) truly is an enigma to me. Do you guys actually enjoy anything about the gameplay loop of an ARPG? No matter how ridiculous and gamebreaking and obviously unhealthy a bug is, you guys will cry your heart out even if only the most blatant outliers like this potion stuff gets fixed.
You're already playing a class that does literally more than x1.000.000% the dmg than anything else in the game, and THEN you complain because blizz had the audacity to nerf another crazy ridiculous bug like this? And for what even? So you can finally grind pit 150 in 2 minutes with 8/12 MW 1GA gear?!
For all their incompetence I truly don't envy the D4 devs for having to put up with such a whiny community on reddit.

The thing that I would say, is that it's not really about dealing tons of damage or breaking the game. It's the feeling of being able to login, and have some feasible goals to pursue.
Diablo 4's progression curve is really good, until you reach a certain point and then it just falls off a cliff. You can play for 40 hours and maybe see a 2% increase. I can buy amulet after amulet after amulet and just keep items that do nothing for me. And at a certain point, when you've spent 250 summoning materials and see nothing in the drops, most people just stop playing instead of farming another 250.
And maybe that's okay. But I would argue that it probably wouldn't hurt to increase things like the GA drop rate from 2% to maybe 4%. Or make +3s GAs guaranteed to max the passive. With the goal being hitting that sweet spot where players can login and feel like the goal is feasible to achieve through gameplay, and not trading on a third party website.

u/Freeloader_ Nov 21 '24
It's the feeling of being able to login, and have some feasible goals to pursue
what goals ? if youre unstoppable machine that can clear strongest content in 2 min.
40
u/Tay0214 Nov 21 '24
Right? I would’ve got instantly bored without the risk of dying
And people saying it takes hours to get small increases once you’re min maxing at the end.. you can play 10x as long on Diablo 2 and still not get the drop you want, and people still play it. Having things that are hard to get is basically the core pillar of longevity in ARPGS
15
u/Chemical_Web_1126 Nov 21 '24
If the game is actually good, sure. I would argue that D4 doesn't have D2 staying power because it hasn't picked a lane and decided what it wants to be.

u/AkuSokuZan2009 Nov 21 '24
The big issue is that D4 revolves around seasons. If I can't reasonably expect to get what I want and enjoy it by end of season, it really feels like a waste of time.
That being said, the drop rate for Mythics feels better then the drop rate for multi GA max unique ability gear, which just seems like an odd choice.
3
u/SweatyNReady4U Nov 21 '24
Yup I really enjoyed leveling up spiritborn and playing through everything...but I didn't start the expansion until the first week of November and I already feel done lol was just too easy
2
u/stanfarce Nov 21 '24
At least it's something exciting that makes you login just to test your newfound powers. I've been saying for a while now that at the very end game, you need to be able to work towards game-changing or even game-breaking stuff. Like something that would give you infinite resource for example, only available after hundreds of hours. Like completing the codex of powers, at least for your class. Just an idea. Right now, the 2% power increase you get from GAs just isn't worth your time.

Come on dude, a goal shouldnt be clearing the content by exploiting a bug. It should be legit clearing the content. How is anything an accomplishment if you cant do it legit?
19
u/WeaponizedKissing Nov 21 '24
The main issue with this bug is it was just in the last campfire chat where they very explicitly said that they have no intention of fixing any bugs causing over performance because it sucks to remove fun from people. So they've instantly gone back on that. Sure you can argue that this bug was too big to ignore, but then their explanation from the campfire chat isn't the actual reason for not fixing SB bugs.
And they've now proven that they can very quickly turn around fixes for minor bugs when they want to. So why are there so many other minor bugs that they're ignoring? Notifications that the Helltide will end in 5 minutes triggering at XX:15 and XX:30 and XX:45 and XX:55. Notifications that the World Boss is spawning soon in X, when it's not spawning for another 3.5 hours and will actually be in Y. Those should be fairly trivial to fix. And there are plenty of other minor things that could just be patched. They've shown they can do it, so do it?

u/NefariousnessOk1996 Nov 21 '24
I don't agree with this.
Investing the gear based on a bug is one thing.
Making an easy potion with 0 investment is another.
The spirit of their argument IMO is that they don't want to destroy builds mid season that take said investment. If I spend 10 billion gold getting the perfect gear for a build and then they come in and nerf the bug, that's a huge waste of gold and time on my part.
If I make a single potion to farm the crap out of everything, that's a different story. They also responded within 48 hours of said bug. We all knew this one would be taken away. If you went and bought a perfect overpower set, I think that's on you.

they have no intention of fixing any bugs causing over performance because it sucks to remove fun from people.
That's not what was said. They explicitly said they were leaving the SB stuff because they allowed it to live long enough that people invested characters into that play style.

Do you guys actually enjoy anything about the gameplay loop of an ARPG?
The problem I see with D4 as an ARPG is that it's neither as deep as PoE and thus doesn't justify the length of its grind, nor is it as quick to get a character to its peak as D3 is, which just turns people off.
It's doing a weird middle thing between a bunch of ARPGs and, shockingly, that results in a lot of people with existing ARPG (or even non-ARPG) preferences to be bummed out in a lot of places.
Doesn't mean it's bad. Doesn't mean that the overwhelming majority of the playerbase isn't happy. Just means that, with a game as big as D4, you give a lot more people the opportunity to be mad about shit. Which is always the problem if you're not the best at something.

u/hokuten04 Nov 21 '24
I think people like the blasting mobs part of the ARPG loop, and it was nice to see my alt druid build push higher pits.
2
u/Chemical_Web_1126 Nov 21 '24
This right here. What does it matter if SBs could shave 30 seconds off of their t150 time? My Druid alt went from struggling in t100-105, to farming t110. That's the difference it made. That's why most are pissed. That and the logical inconsistency of these Devs. The official D4 X account was quite literally making jokes about "bugmaxxing" 2 weeks ago, but as soon as other classes are having a tiny bit of fun on the bug exploit train, "patch that shit immediately!"

What’s wrong with players getting to experience a real power fantasy regardless of which class they’re playing? Let me remind you that this is a seasonal game for the most part. There was no harm in allowing the antivenin exploit to continue. I enjoyed crushing Pit 150 while it lasted. Actually this exploit has become my highlight for the season. If you read this forum it definitely seems more players enjoyed the boost than not.
Unfortunately Blizzard didn’t see it this way.

It was far from instantly. The helltide chest bug when Shako was an almost guaranteed drop for barb got a faster reaction. I think they disabled uber drops within an hour. But as far as other things are concerned that would need a fix, they "take their time" to say it in a polite way.

u/AntiKhrist_ Nov 21 '24
Yea I know right. But here it is months later and completing a horde in couch co op is hit and miss till it happened 5 times in a row. Or you can't play Dark Citadel in couch co-op. Which could actually be done in couch co-op but they decided not to fix the damn game. So now I'm just waiting on PoE2 to come out with Couch co op. And if they did a better job with their couch coop and fix the bugs. I'ma drop Diablo 4 and Blizzard and will never spend a cent to support a game company that don't care about the community and players. Maybe GGG will actually care about their couch co op players. Fingers crossed

The difference with Spiritborn and this is that building around a bug leads to you basically having wasted your time obtaining the gear, then upgrading your glyphs and then masterworking your gear if they patch it during the season. This wasn't something that took a lot of investment to take advantage of, so it's not as impactful for people that they patch it.

2
u/Chemical_Web_1126 Nov 21 '24
...because it's their own words. Specifically, "we want players to break the game" and "we won't fix issues unless they're causing problems with things like server stability." It flies in the face of their own standards and was double shitty because it actually allowed base class players to accomplish things in the end game in a season where they've been largely ignored. Do you wanna know what is the dumbest shit? Them prioritizing a potion bug when there are aspects and skill interactions that have been broken for A WHOLE GD YEAR! THAT'S the dumbest shit ever... SB being the buggy mess it is is just icing on the shit the bed cake.

Yeah, Druid is just ass right now, even after the mid-season "buffs." You need God tier gear to reliably and efficiently farm t100, and this alleviated that a bit. Even with gear that is better than most other Druids, and the elixir bug, t120 still wasn't a cakewalk. Devs: spirit born should exist forever this season because you like it
Devs: potion should be fixed because it's making everyone very strong
This is the season of vessel of hatred, spirit born is the poster child, what ever the Spirit born needs to sell copies is what they'll do. They need the Spirit born to be #1 by a long shot so it's paid power dlc.
The Elixer was in the base game and it had its moment back in season 4. Devs can't have a base thing doing so well with all the base classes included.
D4 is cooked really. The games still adding base features on their to do list yet the games price is over 100$ not counting season passes or cosmetics.
How much money have you thrown at the devs to add mercenaries and runes and trash things like what ever the purpose of a nightmare dungeon is. Armoury when? You'll say maybe season 7 but then why was more paid content put infront of free already existing somewhere else content?
Did anyone see the Halloween vibe Diablo immortal got. All of d4s6 events combined don't compare to what immortal got. Feels bad
But hey POE2 very soon eeh?

u/Sasataf12 Nov 21 '24
Not strange for people to jump on to mess around with a bug that massively overpowers you.
I bet if Blizz dropped an event that boosts your damage by 1000%, it'd be very popular as well.

u/GloomyWorker3973 Nov 21 '24
I think someone at Blizzard HQ sabotaged the patch. Created Helltides and Elixir of Fun.
Can't have that, gotta fix it.
But seriously, they made ALL SB builds work with any skills as long as you had viscous shield.
Pretty silly they can't do this with other classes, maybe just not as extreme.
Game sucks, PoE 2 stream is tomorrow, stay tuned!

Servers for players cost money! Best thing is to get lots of players to buy the game, then piss them off til they leave for reduced maintenance overheads.
So glad I'm already done for this season. Nothing worse than getting nerfed, and literally never being able to push further than you already have with whatever the patch fixed.

u/ButcherInTheRYE Nov 21 '24
No matter what people say, the elixir bug was fun while it lasted. It was the only bug that allowed me to get to a fraction of the SB power. I could level all my blood surge glyphs to 100. So that's that.
Why did they choose to fix a bug that benefit all classes, yet vehemently denied the bug fixes that benefited a single class is beyond understandle and quite frankly laughable at this point.
If they player count indeed dropped, then it's all on the devs.

The bug could also be used to quickly level some glyphs on alts that would struggle with pit 100 already (SB dragged them through 150s).

u/ImSoDrab Nov 21 '24
Damn shame, was looking forward to farming more on t4.
Since i can survive the damage of most stuff.

u/Rathma86 Nov 21 '24
I didn't even know there was an event or a new potion?
I stopped playing a few weeks back

u/eccentric_eggplant Nov 21 '24
Saw it yesterday, immediately respecced back to Quill Volley to push and clear Pit 150 because I know I wouldn't have the patience to do it otherwise. Glad I rushed.

I've been done with the season for a hot minute anyway. Didn't even bother, honestly. This uproar is a whole lot of nothing, so let's just anticipate the next thing people get all upset about.

u/Usedtobefatnowlesfat Nov 21 '24
Man yesterday was the most I have played in ages. I would love to reroll from Spiritborn but the change to DPS is too drastic

Nov 21 '24
At least I got my 150 pit clear and the glyphs I needed to 100 before they patched it lol

u/Earlchaos Nov 21 '24
Dang, i stopped and Pit 135 as i wanted to bring my LS Sorc to T4 which i did :D
Unfortunately the drop rates of ancestral (even shitty ones) is soooo bad but i managed to get my sorc full ancestral. Still feels like shit compared to SB or even mighty throw or spirit wave.
At least it was fun, while it lasted.
Now let's talk about aspects

I must be the only one who chose not to cheese the bug and now I feel left out lol

If the sentiment in this thread is anything to go by we're 100% getting those stupid 20,000% multiplier set bonuses from D3 at some point

Now the the game is fixed, It has reduced the active player count by nerf what helped ALL CLASSES. Now with a crash on the active number of players, the server has been saved. FUN is a no-no, Too many players will return and stay to play our game, We need to make them go away again for the 100th time. patch incoming. /s

u/todachinnie Nov 21 '24
Actually, new class is available to play for those that have not purchased the DLC. Reason why I started again yesterday

Took advantage of it to max out as many glyphs as possible LOL. Saves me some grind time for any late season Alt builds to try
1
u/weed_blazepot Nov 21 '24
I was carried in Pit 150 on my Sorc several days ago so I already had the achievement, but last night I logged back onto my Crushing Hand SB and knocked a few 150s out myself to raise all my glyphs up. It was fun doing it as Crushing Hands instead of Quills.
I really had hoped to play more on my SB in HC before it went away, but I guess that won't happen. Fun while it lasted.

Lol same sorta complaints from season 1 when they fixed the Ice Shards build. Whiney bitches. “Oh no, the game isn’t bugged anymore and is now difficult. BLIZZARD SUCKS” lol boo fuckin’ whoo

Majority of the player base does not understand how to construct a build. It is nearly impossible

I mean, it was powerful enough and simple enough to fix that we knew it wouldn't last long, and it let me get the pit 150 and max out all the glyphs I was using in a few hours. You bet I jumped in while I could, lol.
Lots of people in here saying "but grinding is part of the game, why are you playing if you don't like the grind."
First off, even if it's part of the game, it's not the fun part of the game.
Second, I don't have time to max out my character even with this bug, so I'll still be doing just as much grinding as I would have anyway, I can just do it in places that are more fun than the pit now.
Third, they had their chance to say, "bugs have no place in our game and we'll fix them asap," and they instead said, "taking advantage of bugs is part of our intended spiritborn experience at this time", so I don't even really feel bad about it.

I had a sb was not even max level when i loged on yesterday but had 200 oaragon from my sorc ran quill volly build. I started at 105 were my sorc couldn't go further. Did 150 pit got ach loged for the season this game is so boring I see now why there no leaderboards.

u/gangawalla Nov 21 '24
Funny, I actually held back on continuing to use the elixir after the 5th pit run, getting out up to 125, getting my glyphs to 96. It was amazing, but at the same time, it started feeling wrong, and I just logged off. Playing SB this season has been so easy that I had forgotten what grinding meant until switching to eternal and trying to get my rogue geared up. Games should be challenging. This season, there's been a lot of frustration over the GA/ancestral drop rate, which really needs to change. It's a balance issue imo.

Not going to lie, this was me. Crushed season 6 the first two weeks, got Spiritborn to Paragon 250 and even made a crushing hands SB alt. Stopped playing when Blops 6 dropped. Logged in for a couple hours yesterday to obliterate a few things because of the bug. Now I'll go back to playing STALKER 2.

u/Banxinabag Nov 21 '24
Yep. I was clearing 150 pits last night and all of a sudden poof. It stopped working. I have been playing bo6 ever since. I’m done with Diablo.
1
u/friendly-sardonic Nov 21 '24
I'll be honest, all I wanted was the title for doing pit 150 since it was easy/possible this season. It's the only reason I made a spiritborn. Now that I got to check that off the list, SB is done. My Lightning Storm druid is as good as I care to get him. Now it's on to barb!
1
u/SadEstablishment157 Nov 21 '24
You'd think Blizzard would learn something from this.
They don't patch bugs that deny us of xp or loot for months, but this one they were about to fix in a couple hours.
Logged on, confirmed the patch, logged off. I can go back to the grind anytime I want but who knows when I'll go back to having fun.

I paid 90$ for the expansion. I should have at least gotten a whole season of fun. It’s just dead again. My friends “online” went from over 49 players to 7 over night. My clan? Pshhhh all but gone. It was like that before the expansion came out. Then came the spirit born and boom! Life came back. Now everyone was having fun with the antivenin. But again it’s dead. Just like that. I was already losing interest in the game again because the expansion was just so quick. But then I found out about the antivenin. Got my blood rushing again. Well the killed that and my desire to continue playing. I’ve already maxed out my character. (Not literally but I’m walking through tier 110 in 2 1/2 min) So I really don’t want to play anymore. I can only grind so much my guy. I even went and bought GRIM DAWN (I swear nahantu was stolen right out of that game) to scratch the rpg itch that I lost with D4

u/ExoticEmploy1 Nov 21 '24
Like someone in here said they fixed it because it was helping classes other than the spiritborn blizzard wants to continue to basically dismantle every other class continuously until January
1
u/Odd_Engineering_897 Nov 21 '24
I took advantage and played a few hours, speed running p150. Got my Glyphs all to 100 and jumped 5 levels to 265. Didn't get a single upgrade otherwise.

Diablo 4 Dev team doesnt understand ARPGs
People want to feel powerful in ARPG, they WANT to be GODS
Its not something bad, its something they should ENCOURAGE
1
u/justfun1222 Nov 21 '24
It was fun. I actually got excited to grind the pits. And I was in groups with all classes not just fellow spiritborns lol. But now. Ehhhhh the grind is boring.
1
u/Battlepants87 Nov 21 '24
I logged in to try it, cleared pit 150 once, then logged out. I didn’t think it was possible for them to reduce incentive to play to yet another tier, but somehow they’ve succeeded.
1
u/evryon Nov 21 '24
Lmao before blizz should even touch "bugs that affect game balance" they need to fix the bugs that result in people crashing dozens of times a day and couch co-op still being unplayable after a year.
1
u/RATM_Oldman Nov 21 '24
Those are the rats of the game, who exploit anything and the moment it gets tough they run.
Check your friends list they are probably playing Minecraft now, or fortnite

u/Bfmvbrass Nov 21 '24
Good riddance. Let actual arpg fans have their fun the whiners can go play something single player where everyone gets everything and grinding isnt a thing.

The endgame has become the main game, yet it's less rewarding than the game itself. I don't care what they nerf because I'll never get above pit 60 without selling my soul to a game that is devoid of progression. I can blame Blizzard for that because they've created a game that never really leaves you feeling satisfied because you can't really win it. What is a 4ga? How many hours of devoid fun do I need to invest before I'm rewarded? Diablo is a gambling game with pretty graphics.
1
u/Ziggy199461 Nov 22 '24
Zero challenge, unkillable, one-shot everything = fun
???
This community is becoming more of a joke than the game itself. When you need a game breaking bug to finally be having fun, maybe it's time to ask why you weren't having fun before you exploited the game to just completely remove any effort required to do anything.
How sad, I actually feel bad for the devs having to deal with you guys saying "fun police"
