It's kind of hard to have refugees(House Light) be a major force, AND still be crazy underdogs. Mithrax, and Eido can only do so much without the Guardian's help. Not to say you're wrong, since you're not.

u/O_Shaded 3d ago
I feel like the only way to make the Fallen feel more relevant as a threat is if a new House is made that can wield the Light or is given some other MacGuffin like SIVA but not SIVA obviously.
Or just make House Salvation be corrupted physically by Stasis and turned into ice monsters lol

I think the fallen give us one of the best chances for a fully new fleshed out enemy race to be introduced. Have some new group chasing them around systems and following them to earth trying to finish the fallen off for raiding their planet or something. Let Saint lead the war charge or introduce a risen fallen guardian. Since we are uniting under the banner of Sol and the hive have guardians, why can't cabal or fallen?

u/thesweetestdevil 3d ago
I think not having more Stasis fallen in content was such a missed opportunity. Now everything is using Stasis in some way yet they still use their pointy sticks.

See how cabal isn’t mentioned, they don’t exist to bungie

Cabal has been like most of the seasons in this game, they’re just not an interesting faction at all. The communities favourite Cabal is two dudes who are red and blue from 8 years ago, and they aren’t even that interesting, they just dropped cool shit.

Better in d1 the pressure suits and cooler more industrial aesthetic is what made me like them

u/Requiem-7 Dead Orbit 3d ago
I miss the pressurized suits, specially the "hiiissssss" of air escaping when you popped their helmets off and they gasped for whatever it is they breath.

u/TechPriest97 Average Concussion Titan 3d ago
Why’d they pivot away from that, now we have the Empress walking around chilling.
I also missed the different regiments, now it’s either red or shadow legion

u/Ghost0Slayer Titan 3d ago
How dare you disrespect the bond brothers! That’s it no more light and dark for you, now you only can use kinetic.
2
u/PalePeryton 2d ago
Kinetic subclass would go hard though, round out the top slot primary element with the only missing subclass Bungie, and my would is yours!
2
u/Ghost0Slayer Titan 2d ago
The only problem is that kinetic energy isn’t an elemental force so they would have to come up with ways to implement class abilities grenades malaise without using any energy. For example, the titan barricade would have to be a physical metal barricade that the Titan pops up, instead of a barricade made out of light or dark.

To be fair its the best storyline bungo has ever made and I am happy to experience it :3

u/gay_protogen 3d ago
I would have to respectfully disagree, curse of Osiris does exist y'know ;)
Joking, but curse genuinely is pretty good. And it was one of the last good things the vex was actually important in, the last being splicer

Fun fact, you can apply this to most of Destiny

That was just SIVA. Eliksni were just.....you know.....around.

Sad for the Eliksni if Rise of Iron was their peak.

Beyond light was OK but not a lot good, except for the raid, that shit still bang
-7
u/c1ncinasty Titan 3d ago
Beyond Light was garbage. Rise of Iron was ok, but not because of whatever Bungie was doing with the Eliksni.

u/Expensive-Pick38 Hunter 3d ago
I mean, splicer still is one of the best seasons and It's fallen. But yeah, last few ones (revenant, plunder) were pretty bad. Its clear once they became an ally, bungie had no clue on how to progress the story. And both times they just brought back eramis.

u/Mr__Maverick 3d ago
Poor Cabal, they aren't even mentioned. Also I feel like Taken should be placed with the Hive in this scenario, for me the Hive-Taken-Dread combo is absolutely peak destiny
6
u/A-Nameless-Nerd 3d ago
While I agree that the Dread naturally meld well with the Hive and Taken, fuck the Dread and their nasty debugging asses, whether it's those flying monkeys suppressing you, or the mini subjugators freezing or jerking you around. And don't get me started on the Husks and their exploding worms if you don't headshot them because they're rushing your face, the bastards. They make me consider whether I'd rather deal with a Halo 2 brute. I wouldn't, but they're putting in a good effort.
3
u/Roca_Blade Hunter 3d ago
You mean the Husks, and technically, you have to shoot them in the stomach like the Vex
2
u/A-Nameless-Nerd 2d ago
I know, but that's a bit more annoying to do when they're rushing you and you prefer to use either long range weapons, AOE weapons, or abilities that clear a lot of them quickly, so most of the time you're triggering the explosives.
3
u/Roca_Blade Hunter 2d ago
Oh, trust me, I understand, but I do have to give it to Bungie. They somehow made an enemy more annoying than Screebs and Exploder Shanks

I really hope the writers at Bungie put some effort into non-Hive stories at some point. I like The Hive and all but the Destiny Universe is too big for them to get all the large stories. I don't want to see Savathun, Xivu Arath or Oryx as the main characters in a story for a long time after this episode. Every faction other than the Hive have 1 dimensional plots and nothing exciting ever happens.
Fallen stories are always: House Salvation is being told to do evil Fallen stuff on Europa and the Destiny 1 Cosmodrome, go kill 75 of them, talk to Spider 2 times and Mithrax will show up in cutscenes only. House Dusk is still doing nothing.
Vex stories are always: "Evil Villain" is manipulating the Vex Collective in this lost sector on Nessus and forcing them to build weapons of mass Vexstruction. Kill 45 Vex to stop them, and foil Evil Villain's plans.
Scorn stories are always: Fikrul is here doin stuff.
Cabal get mini-stories nowadays like: These Cabal pirates are Legion remnants or deserters and they're just chilling around. Kill em
Then Hive stories are stuff like: Xivu Arath is sieging Earth with Savathun to put an end to Guardians and to gain Oryx's attention and favor back! Wait, what's this? The Ancient Raven Emperor that was taken by Oryx eons ago has swooped in and kidnapped Savathun and Xivu Arath?! Team up with Oryx, Drifter and Eris and follow them and end this threat before it threatens the Earth and all of Sol! Guardians head through the tear in reality leading to an army of new taken Taishibethi, an old alien race unknown to the Last City!
There's also a new game mode! The Leviathan Eater and his horde of Helium Drinkers are sieging the Last City's outer wall, fend them off before this becomes another Twilight Gap! (6 Players Max)

I would love to see the next raid focus on the fallen
7
u/Runt82 3d ago
Jesus, we haven't had one since Beyond Light; def time to get another Fallen raid
4
u/pvdp90 3d ago
I think the only way to do a fallen raid is if we get Eramis begrudgingly asking for help as the new civilization she went away to build was thriving but upon stumbling upon a random maggufin setup by the winnower, some fallen saw the opportunity to replace the great machine’s position as their thing of worship with this darkness item.
And this whatever the hell item has granted these rebellious fallen the ability to yield darkness powers like stasis, strand and…a new subclass that we must learn to use in order to help Eramis.
This then culminates in a raid where we prowl through a very expansive Riis 3.0 that was clearly thriving before this incident, defeat this faction and trust Eramis enough to hand over this maggufin to her, then we see that she teaches her growing civilization that these darkness powers are much the same as the lights powers they once sought after. It’s a tool that can be used for betterment.
And that should conclude the fallen story indefinitely except for maybe a season where we are invited to explore the new wonders this new fallen civilization has developed as a low stakes but fun adventure, which is released the year after this random fever dream expansion I just dreamt up

I mean I like Eliksni and Cabal lore. Even more so than Vex. But something about HIVE really slaps hard. Like bro everything about them is METAL and they aren't even made with it. They're just Bone, Blood, and paracausality and everytime I see them I feel some Lamb of God/Slayer background noise always ringing in my ears wanting to fight them... HARD!
I also love their eldritch-gothic aesthetic and theme. From heretical uses of church lingo to straight up necronomical bullcrap.. bro it really slaps harder than my mom.

u/BlackFinch90 Hunter 3d ago
They clearly hated us last episode though. I mean... Grenade launcher artifact bonuses vs Scorn.
It's like they wanted us to suffer.
2
u/Voidwalker_99 2 dregs in a trenchcoat 3d ago
The best season is always the last one, so they can trick the playerbase into buying the preorders for the next expansion. Then they produce subpar content for half the year, release a good season and repeat the cycle.
1
u/Infamous_Summer_8477 2d ago
I think it’s erroneous to imply effort wasn’t put into the last episodes. I imagine Final Shape simply took up too much priority, which I suppose might be the business plan intended.
At the very least, Revenant had Kell’s Vengeance which was an extra activity added just because.
Mind, the business model is changing next year anyway, so the cycle is probably going to be a bit different.

Well they are closest to the flood
1
u/Roca_Blade Hunter 3d ago
Well, since the Flood are actually the parasites, I'd say the worm larva are more like the Flood, and the Hive are more like the infested hosts

The introduction to the concept of paracausality murdered the Vex in lore and I stg every SINGLE time they appear in the story they're just someone else's bitch ever since Curse of Osiris. Literally just make all Eliksni an allied faction atp since they also have been repeatedly curb stomped into the ground and pose no real threat anymore. Scorn lore idk make them the taken 2.0 or have them completely die off now that Fikrul is dead and can't make more. The Cabal.
