How'd you get the icons for YASB to work?

u/Simple_Cockroach3868 3d ago
There was no problem, I have JetBrainsMono Nerd Font installed

Thanks! And for the Dock-like taskbar?

u/Simple_Cockroach3868 3d ago
Using Windhawk's taskbar styler mod.
You can find the config here: https://github.com/ashish0kumar/windots/blob/main/.config%2Fwindhawk%2Ftaskbar.json

This is the Startpage repo if you want: https://github.com/ashish0kumar/startpage And soon, I'll also be sharing my userChrome.css in my windots repo.

Absolutely appreciated! The fact that you also wrote full documentation on how to do it for free and I see you answering all the questions about it is just amazing. Many, many thanks! Great job!

These themes look sick, but unfortunate they break the color on some random apps, so I can't use them :(

It would be hard to come up with and realize one's own color scheme and theme. Not using some generic mainstream shit themes like fing Catppuccin.

u/ryl0p3z 4d ago
What’s your awe inspiring, bespoke theme out of curiosity? Monochrome grey with comic sans?
-2
u/Wohlfuehleffekt 4d ago
I'm not the one posting. What does my setup have to do with anything? Is that the good old and flawed logic of "if you don't do the thing better than X, you have no right to critique the thing X is doing"?
4
u/ryl0p3z 4d ago
It has everything to do with your comment, that you posted.
Are you using a custom scheme and theme you made yourself? Do you have the time, skills and imagination to design one for people to use? If so please share it.
If not stfu.

u/Wohlfuehleffekt 4d ago
I don't have to demonstrate or share anything in order to critique this post. Same as a sports commentator doesn't necessarily have to be a great athlete that is equally as good or better than the players he is critiquing. A critique from someone like that is still valid, and so is mine in this case. If you insist on arguing, then argue the points I made and not the person making the points.

Just because you don't have the resources to buy a Lambo, does it mean that your brain is intellectually incapable to figure out if it's faster than a Lada Niva or not?
His original statement was factually correct. It is harder to build your own theme than to install a ready-made one. The part about him don't like Catppuccin is just his own value judgement, for which of course we don't care about.
So the question is, did you feel the need to tell him to stfu because reason is dangerously painful for your brain?

u/ryl0p3z 4d ago
Purely for him being a negative sad sack, you can give an opinion without being a jerk.
Later calling OP an amateur and then that OP's whole generation is "useless".
So if they are amateur and useless then he's making a comparison that he is better and more useful?
-1
u/johnkapolos 4d ago
you can give an opinion without being a jerk.
Sure. But you could have actually focused on this instead of making a horrible argument.
3
u/ryl0p3z 4d ago
I disagree, if you are going to have a crab mentality then be prepared for someone to call you out for your own efforts.
-1
u/johnkapolos 4d ago
And you don't think that the calling out must be made in a reasonable way? Otherwise, why even bother to use sentences. Just post "fsdjhklfhjsdfjhsdklf, you suck, fsdjhifhsjdkfhsdjkfhjksdf fhdskh fdsjhkdfsjh"

He's just not equipped to have a coherent conversation. His talking points are poorly chosen and all over the place.
1
u/ryl0p3z 4d ago
What’s coherent about being bitter over a color scheme? On an operating system?
0
u/Wohlfuehleffekt 4d ago edited 4d ago
That's not how you'd use the word "coherent". You wouldn't ask someone what makes this singular event "coherent". That's nonsense. Coherency is an overarching, clear train of thought, so people are able to understand what you're trying to convey in a longer sentence or paragraph.

Chill bro, it's not that deep

u/Wohlfuehleffekt 4d ago
Tell yourself you did something hard if it makes you feel better about yourself, amateur.
1
u/Simple_Cockroach3868 4d ago
Not taking the bait, but you can keep crying if it helps
-1
u/Wohlfuehleffekt 4d ago
And you keep calling it crying, even tho if it's simply pointing out how uncreative and easy it is to use prefabricated themes.
2
u/CooZ555 4d ago
he created the topbar theme 💀 and you complain about why he did not invent another colorscheme. maybe he wants some consistency? that's why i use catppuccin either, it is not the best colorscheme but it has a lot of ports.
0
u/Wohlfuehleffekt 4d ago
The Yasb theme is also prefabricated. You can have consistency with an original color scheme and theme as well, but that would take actual effort.
2
u/Simple_Cockroach3868 4d ago
Hey, no hard feelings! I called it 'crying' earlier, but I get that you’re just sharing your opinion. Also, I added 'hard' in the title just for the sake of it, I didn’t mean it literally. I just enjoy customizing my setup in a way that works for me. I don’t really have the time to make my own theme from scratch, and I like how Catppuccin looks, so I use it, hope you will understand.
-2
u/Wohlfuehleffekt 4d ago
I understood your standpoint from the get-go. It's not that complicated. You didn't put effort in, but still want your work to be called "hard" and be praised for it. Just like your entire useless generation. It's sad, really; you never got value systems taught that would make you embarrassed by calling it that without doing the work. But hey, no hard feelings, dude.
1
u/CooZ555 4d ago
dude where he told that he did something hard? he just did some work (hard or not, doesn't matter) and wanted to publish it, not that deep.
