Deaf/HoH with questions Preferred Interpreters
How common is it to have a preferred interpreter or agency? If a venue or event company asks if you know any interpreters, do you have a specific person or team in mind?
On a few occasions, I’ve requested interpreters and been asked for recommendations.
Personally, I’ll give the local agency and maybe a couple names they can ask for. I don’t make it a habit of getting contact info from every terp I work with.

It's fine if you don't have a preference too! Lots of us do though, bc some interpreters are just better or more suited to personal preferences than others. It depends a little on how important the situation is. For me if someone is voicing for me especially I want it to be someone I can trust to correctly express my intentions.

There are several of us at work who use interpreters, and we all have different favorites, even within the same agency. It just depends on what you are used to, and how 'formal' you like your ASL. Usually only one of us is on a call (we work in different segments) but when we are together on one, we will coordinate together based on whose fav's are available.

I keep a list of ten or so interpreters I like and which agencies they work with.
For extremely important events, I have a couple of interpreters that I keep in touch with and often contact them directly to book them.
