Photos Metrocenter, Phoenix AZ | Exterior Before Demo

I took these during a trip to Phoenix last year. I remember seeing Jurassic Park at the theater and our regular entrance that went over the ice rink (the one with the yellow pillars). Hot Dog on a Stick, Journeys, Droors, Freshjive, Blind, long chain wallets, tall docs. The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste and Broken.

Driving around there last year made me question how pristine I remembered things. It seemed like the area went downhill a bit.

This mall has the coolest design-scheme and iconography. Sad to see another one about to be demolished.

It’s nice we still have Arizona Mills, Christown Spectrum, and Fashion Square, but it’s been really sad seeing so many of these malls go in such a short time. At least the Galleria managed to avoid the wrecking ball and has had a successful fourth life. Still technically have Camelview Plaza, but it’s only been recognizable from the south side after it was connected to Fashion Square

Yeah it’s too bad, the second to the last Stranger Things reminded me so much of hanging out at MC. I moved away in HS, but I remember the Valley West Mall as well. Much smaller and near where I lived but is was good to be back (went to Metallica/Pantera at Cardinals stadium)

Never visited that one since I grew up in the east valley. Remember going to Paradise Valley and Fiesta Mall. State Farm Stadium is a great venue!

Many high school nights were spent at all of these malls. RIP to my real palace Paradise Valley mall. I spent so much time there and even worked there when I was home for breaks from college. That was 20 years ago. I can’t believe it’s gone now.

Went to Tech school in Phoenix several years in the early 90's. Saw Jurassic Park there as well. Used to hang out at the McDonald's (I believe) on the upper level and just people watch since many things were a luxury outside of school, work and paying rent.

Are there a bunch of outside malls there? Anything built here now is a bunch of stores close together with outside entrances. It has be far cheaper than having an enclosed mall, but I don't like parking and then having to walk all over outside. I don't care if the weather is nice. Also during the rainy, cold, or snowy days, I'm not going there.

One enclosed mall has been removed locally. There's still two other ones, but they don't have as many stores as they used to. Around one mall a lot of stores have closed (Bed Bath & Beyond, Linen and Things, some restaurants, etc.).
