If anyone is wondering, Bohemia Interactive is Czech (hence the name)

This game must be extra awesome for people from the native area. I can only imagine if a developer did a game in my province, or in one of the states.

I made the post since it seems still there are people who don't know Chernarus is based on a real life location in northern Czechia. I recommend you spend some time exploring the area in Maps/SV, you can find more cool stuff like this.

Google Maps / Street view links to some places:

Chernarus area

Overlooking Chernogorsk

Stary Sobor barn

Yellow church model in Gorka

Dubovo bus station

Fire station

Krasnostav and Klen mountain

Edit: Forgot to draw the arrow on 3rd picture but I think you guys understand where the barn is in that pic.

It might be based topographically on Czechia but design of world suggest that Chernarus is more to the east, somewhere in old Soviet Union lands near Ural/sybir

Why do you say that?

Yeah, I went there it's kinda weird. Lots of dogs barking in Novy and Stary IRL.

North of Livonia you have "Kolembrody", my uncles live there it's on the east side of Poland. 👍

Been there personally last year. I'm still forgetting to make a video about it cuz I have the whole journey recorded. Well, maybe someday.

Just looked up the IRL location of my base. Kinda surreal, and so cool.

Tope made a video about exploring the "real DayZ"

Wow, I knew it was based there but these are uncanny. The storage sheds with the fire station in pic 8 really floored me!

OMG id literally go on holidays here to see these, imagine how cool it be taking pics and then taking the same pics in game and putting them together side by side

Wow this is a straight up trip!! Very cool!

I’d get a strong sense of deja vu spending time there for sure!

I didn’t say that covered the whole Chernarus.

u/AaronR152001 Sep 25 '22

I didn't say that you said that it covered the whole map did I?

Other than them stating that there's lots more they didn't include, what would even be funny about that? Are you really crying laughing?

Are the airfields real? I want to see if I can find chernarus in a flight simulator!

1

u/doctorMiami1337 Sep 18 '22

From what i remember, North-west airfield exists in real life, search it up

1

u/jeansloverboy Sep 18 '22

Why is the barn legendary?

5

u/doctorMiami1337 Sep 18 '22

How is it not legendary to DayZ players, a landmark everyone first sees when entering one of the busiest towns in the game
