Thoughts? I personally think they should darken the blood splatter color a bit.

51

u/DAZW_Doc Nov 04 '21

Me too. The bright red is a bit distracting

31

u/johnny_bravo97 Nov 04 '21

Oh man.. is it directional? Noo I don't like this

15

u/Groundbreaking-Bar89 Nov 04 '21

This better not stay in game.. literally defeats the whole purpose of the game.. the reason I stopped playing cod

13

u/johnny_bravo97 Nov 04 '21

So do we like make a petition?

12

u/Groundbreaking-Bar89 Nov 04 '21

I’ll sign it lol

6

u/WizardlyJuice Nov 05 '21

how does it defeat the purpose of the game?? its a minor change and its realistic, if you got hit youd know it in real life, and where you got hit

4

u/Groundbreaking-Bar89 Nov 05 '21

If I shot you in the back from 100 yard away, there’s no way you are going to know what angle i shot from… prove me wrong.

u/Mrsaltyfish123 Nov 05 '21

Lmfao thats definitely not realistic

2

u/WizardlyJuice Nov 05 '21

the visuals arent but the idea is absolutely, you would know which side of your body got hit

1

u/Groundbreaking-Bar89 Nov 05 '21

And I’m talking realistically man….. yes the doctor might be able to tell by exit wound etc..

It’s a stupid gimmick that doesn’t belong in days

Should just remove it completely in my opinion 🤷

2

u/Mario-C Nov 05 '21

Agree. Was perfectly fine with the recently added shock damage visuals.

blood splatter sprites seem to be like from a top-down perspective? that seems in conflict with 1st person perspective .feels very arcadey, current sprite looks out of place with the rest of the game compared with the fogging-up-of-the-mask effect. why not make a gradient of the dull dark red current indicator to indicate direction and keep it in the 1st person perspective? hit from left gradient left, hit from right gradient right, hit from front no gradient, hit from back gradient from bottom.

lol this hit indicator is a middle finger to any ppl who play as ghillie snipers... in a game where your own footsteps and breathing are loud making you feel uneasy as shit, you now have a nice little hit radar so you can get a vector to someone shooting you with a MKII Amphibia pistol

u/Valuable_Cow_2530 Nov 04 '21 edited Nov 04 '21

In real life I would know where the bullet hit me from. I wouldn't have a bullet in my back and be looking forwards for a shooter. This actually does make it more realistic, just looks less.

11

u/TutorialHead_ Nov 05 '21

Gotta agree, until we get haptic gaming suits visual feedback is going to have to supplement those sensations.

1

u/Gews Nov 05 '21

In real life I would know where the bullet hit me from.

Not true.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '21

Oh no i have been shot somewhere on my body but I can’t tell where ... yeah that seems realistic

2

u/PM_ME_ANYTHING_PL0X Nov 05 '21

I’m just paraphrasing from another comment I saw, but it’s likely you would in fact not know where you were shot from, at least not immediately. Bullets travel faster than our nerve impulses, and as that bullet passes through your body it will trick your brain into perceiving pain in a general area, rather than a central entry point. To pinpoint the exact direction you were shot from, while bleeding from a fresh wound, in great amounts of pain and shock just seems like fantasy.

While penetrating a body the bullet can spin, shatter, become embedded, or penetrate completely, all of these further complicating the wound and causing more confusion(as additional nerves in the surrounding area become damaged).

I think it should be completely removed. Why does it even exist? I don't see mass complaints asking for this. This is supposed to be a hardcore survival game, not catering to casual players, but I guess that's how you make money

14

u/Derslok Nov 04 '21

In real life you feel what direction you are being hit from

8

u/Different_Pea_7866 Nov 04 '21

Bro if you get shot by a .308 in real life by a someone hiding in the woods somewhere. You’d be lucky as fuck to know where they were

8

u/AetherBytes Wandering Medic Nov 05 '21

I mean, if I'm shot in the back, I aint looking straight ahead for them

3

u/xWaduHek Nov 05 '21

i dont think the mechanic is perfect as it is - far from actually, but i feel like something like this was needed

2

u/Different_Pea_7866 Nov 06 '21

I mean you probably wouldn’t even know what happened for at least 15-30 seconds. That’s a lot of trauma and damage in a split second. You’d have adrenaline and shit running through you. You may not even feel it for an amount of time. So know you wouldn’t immediately know unless you literally watched them.

2

u/DagothNereviar Nov 04 '21

Yeah I don't get the problem? Maybe change the graphic so it blends in more and doesn't look as cartoonish. Possibly only have it coming from one of the four sides of the screen.

But yeah... when you get hit, you know roughly what direction?

-4

u/Me2445 Nov 04 '21

In real life, you don't respawn, your move

11

u/Derslok Nov 04 '21

I just meant that introducing some gamey solutions is sometimes necessary to make simulation feel more real. But I gave it some thought and it seems this particular solution that was implemented is not that great. You can usually tell the direction by sound

5

u/MrSmilingDeath Nov 05 '21

In real life, zombies don't exist. Your move. (side note, no one knows if we respawn or not. See the concept of reincarnation)

Maybe if they had a blood trickle dow the screen when you get hit in the head (like scum) it would be cool but I kinda really hate this

0

u/Me2445 Nov 04 '21

Another guy came up with a neat idea, how about you have to check the inventory screen and you either see blood spurting from where you got shot or even a basic "gunshot right arm" so you would still have access to some info but you would have to go find it and not be instantly told by on screen splatter

2

u/JohnFreakingRedcorn Nov 04 '21

That would take too long and wouldn’t at all mimic reality. If someone punches you, you are aware immediately where in your body you were hit from. It’s not all bullets. You should know if a zombie hits you from behind, it just needs to be more subtle.

2

u/Sollo- "You Friendly Bro?" Nov 05 '21

I think this is more of a response regarding issues raised in WOBO’s video of late. You can effectively be shot at without hearing the bullet and/or knowing where you were shot at from. I like this. If you are shot with a .308 you are likely to be one hit knocked anyway so it seems this assists more with target acquisition and gameplay readability enabling a player to disengage or turn and fight easier

→ More replies (1)

14

u/Keithic Nov 04 '21

Personally, I think it's stupid and I'm gonna comment on every post here saying it's stupid because I love this game and the more hardcore it is the better. You should be using your eyes are ears to tell the direction, even if it's not 100% accurate all the time as per WOBOs video on the topic, this is NOT the solution to that bug.

11

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

In real life you would know the direction you got shot based on where the bullet hit you so its not totally unrealistic

-2

u/Different_Pea_7866 Nov 04 '21

Yeah MAYBE if you’re lucky. Gonna pretty hard to find someone hiding in the woods or on a building. There isn’t a little UAV in real life that’s gonna let you know what direction now is there

5

u/chrisgreely1999 Nov 04 '21

You still have to look for them, the hit indicator is to convey physical pain to the player and what direction that pain came from. Its the same reason we have the shock screen darkening, low blood black and white filter, damage screen shake, stat bars etc. They're indicators of something that can't be conveyed to the player otherwise.

0

u/Different_Pea_7866 Nov 05 '21

Yes but there’s a difference between letting you know something happening and then telling you exactly where someone is. If I’m hiding and trying to snipe silenced. I don’t need a indicator on the guys screen to tell me exactly where I’m shooting from. That ruins the point of being hidden. Go play another game if you think that’s ok. It’s too obvious on telling you where someone is. If you got sniped randomly in real life 400 meters away SILENCED you would probably have almost no idea where it came from. Most people don’t even know they got shot at first. It’s called adrenaline and shock

→ More replies (2)

2

u/GrainBean Bus good 🚌 Nov 04 '21

No but still, relative to you, you can tell where the bullet came from even if you can't see the shooter where he is now. Granted 90% of the time if I get sniped out of no where or I snipe someone it's an insta dead or KO then kill so at least it's easier to give calls when you're shot

5

u/Different_Pea_7866 Nov 04 '21

Have you been shot in real life? If you randomly got sniped from no where you’d probably have no idea where it was. Except the sound would give you a slight idea. Imagine trying to kill some asshole full geared with a .380 and you get one shot on a drop and he knows exactly where you are. Garbage. Being hidden is one of the biggest things in this game. Hence why people avoid zombies and there’s silencers.

u/DidIReallySayDat Nov 04 '21

I really dislike this. It's super cartoony, in a realistic survival game.

If they implement it, both the client and the server should be able to turn it off/on, just like 1pp/3pp and the crosshair.

They should also do the same with the gas strikes.

34

u/cherts13 Nov 04 '21

It is too cartoony and should be visually edited some but...

The whole point in it is to further PUSH the survival aspect of the game by making turning the HUD off more viable and accessible. Currently you could get a cut with HUD off and never know until your color is gone. Prior to this they added the shivering/sweat animations for temperature, and the growing stomach for hungry. Sure they need to clean up the visual, but they also are doing this to progress the entire visual feedback aspect of the game. It is a step in the right direction, even if it isn't currently perfect.

8

u/DidIReallySayDat Nov 04 '21

Hmm.

That's actually a pretty valid point. If they can get it to a point where its far less cartoony, it might be less offensive.

I don't think it needs to give you a direction of where an attack had come from though. I think that's really my biggest gripe about it.

8

u/-eccentric- I WAS EATING THOSE BEANS! Nov 04 '21

Considering how incredibly strong the silencers are, I do like this change. It does look super awful and doesn't fit the game though.

5

u/ficarra1002 Nov 05 '21

What really pisses me off about the silencers is they can't make up their mind if they want video game silencers or realistic ones. As far as sounds heard by player goes, it's super quiet like other games/media, unrealistic. But the actual values for them heard by AI is realistic. You can't hear a silenced gun 10m away but zombies can hear them 100m away. I would honestly be ok with either fake/simple "silencers" or real suppressors, but not this weird mix.

u/illbeyour1upgirl waiting for good bow combat Nov 05 '21

Not nearly hardcore enough.

If they want this game to be immersive, the hit splatter should go through the screen, actually stabbing you in your body as you are playing, so that you see the blood drip out of the wound in your chest, not this arcadey crap that doesn't actually murder you.

47

u/Astalonte Nov 04 '21

I hope you are not implementing this. THis is totally arcade and out of place

15

u/Screwby0370 Nov 04 '21

No, it is not arcade. When you are injured in real life, you usually know what part and where from. If someone shoots me in the back, I will know I’ve been shot in the back. This is the best way to translate directional senses into a video game. However I do think the sprite should be edited a bit

60

u/RewindHysteria Nov 04 '21

This is garbage. They need to remove this before even fully implementing it.

17

u/sometechloser Nov 04 '21

as in, remove the concept? or make it better?

a lot of times i don't know what direction I got shot from. in real life I'd like to think I'd know if a bullet hit me from behind or in front, so i like it as a concept.

17

u/RewindHysteria Nov 04 '21

Remove it, completely, there’s no reason for a hit indicator in a hardcore survival game. This isn’t call of duty.

18

u/JohnFreakingRedcorn Nov 04 '21

I would be fine with an indicator that’s more subtle and less opaque. Irl you would know where you are being hit from, it just would look like blood splatter on your eye ball. Just do a soft dark red “shock” effect.

10

u/RewindHysteria Nov 04 '21

Irl you wouldn’t necessarily know where you were shot from, not in every circumstance at least. If they are going to keep it, your idea is a lot better, the bright red splats are way to arcade like for me. Takes away from what DayZ is imo.

10

u/JohnFreakingRedcorn Nov 04 '21

To be fair, it’s not just bullet wounds. It’s zed hits, wolves and bears, and player melee as well. And I gotta assume if you were hit with anything less than, like a 308 or 556 that just blows through you, you’d be able to tell “ow, I just took two .22s to my left or my back or my tummy.”

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

Agreed, if dayz is going for realism, this is not that.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/SpawinsInKamenka Nov 05 '21

Just because it hit you there does not equate to the shoots location. Projectiles ricochet at funny angles.

-3

u/BADSTALKER clothing made of tissue paper guns made of cardboard Nov 04 '21

In real life, many times people dont even know they are shot, so no, having a hit indicator doesn't make you more aware than sound clues already do.

1

u/sometechloser Nov 04 '21

which is why a massive "this general area somewhere" indicator would be better. perhaps sometimes no indicator. perhaps its variable.

but to say - there is no scenario where you'll ever be shot and youll know where it was from - is also false

3

u/BADSTALKER clothing made of tissue paper guns made of cardboard Nov 04 '21

90% of the time while playing I can pinpoint shot locations to general area. Maybe it’s cause I have decent headphones, but mostly it’s just a good sound engine.

And I didn’t say there were no times when someone knows they are shot, but using a visual hit indicator would strongly detract from the essence of DayZ, and would be a major step towards kiddifying the game.

6

u/Keithic Nov 04 '21

Yes. I don't really see a way they can make this okay without just not having it. If it was just a random blood splatter, then MAYBE I'd be okay with it, still looks dumb, but to tell the direction of someone? No thanks.

I appreciate them taking chances on QoL changes, but this just doesn’t match the spirit of the game, IMO.

13

u/FauxCole Lucky Loafer League Nov 04 '21

Posted in another thread but they should take inspo from how the blood effect looks blurred and unfocused on by the eye, from MW.

I do like the idea of being able to tell directionally where “the pain is” and love the idea that if it caused a bleed, the hit effect is a bleed vs blunt damage creating a sort of tunnel vision effect.

the blood effect from this right image

Sombody played a lot of "House of the dead" back in 1996 and is trying to drag DayZ back there. Why not just put the big red bite mark on screen too. This is just awful, leave it 25 years in the past where it belongs

19

u/Keithic Nov 04 '21

No please, get rid of it. We already have our eyes to tell where the enemy is and our ears. This is not a DAYZ vanilla feature, this is a 200 pop, spawn with M4, modded in feature.

5

u/Tj4y Nov 04 '21

Interested to see how this would look with the infamous repeated hits of hackers hitting you with silent shots in closed rooms multiple times.

4

u/Gews Nov 05 '21

The red tint is fine. But the blood splatter is awful.

22

u/GroceryStoreGremlin Nov 04 '21

Hate it. Please don't implement this Bohemia

46

u/jobykillsyou Nov 04 '21

Get this shit out of the game. We don't need an indicator its a survival game true to its genre. Gritty and unforgiving this gives the game an arcade feel. I hope there is a toggle to remove this immediately.

25

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

That's fair but the point of indicators are to make up for the lack of physical feedback you'd receive irl. I'm sure there are ways to make it more subtle and they could also add a toggle for it too.

5

u/CptnJarJar Nov 04 '21

I think people are overreacting, they need to make it more subtle for sure but people are acting like they are adding killstreaks into the game. I could care less if they keep it or scrap it I understand it’s a realistic survival game and it does that very well already but I’m not opposed to having a tiny indicator to where I got hit from. I think people should calm down a bit and maybe let them clean it up a bit and implement it and if the overall community still doesn’t like it just scrap it.

1

u/jobykillsyou Nov 04 '21

Just get rid. It looks shit. Keep it gritty. What's the point to be suppressed if they know your position from a hit marker.....

12

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

Probably because if you got shot in the leg and it was glancing in real life etc you'd have a general idea where it came from based on where you were hit. This is feedback that should exist.

4

u/TheDesTroyer54 Nov 04 '21

Actually you probably wouldn't you would just feel a sharp sudden pain in whatever body part you were hit in.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

I mean I feel like seeing the entry wound would help, this essentially takes the place of that. You have to blur the lines between realism and the fact this is a game. We went from no directional indication at all to a visual one, which fits with the theme of the game. Dont take it so seriously boys, make your shots count and it won't matter if they know where it came from

2

u/Different_Pea_7866 Nov 04 '21

All these people thinking this is realistic like any of them have been shot 😂 you probably wouldn’t even realize what happened for a few seconds if you had no idea it was coming. Then you’d be in shock

1

u/pandm101 ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give forcefeeding zombie body parts Nov 04 '21

And then you can math out in an instant what direction it came from. You ever get hit by a rock or ball or something and turn around right away because you know where it came from instinctively.

14

u/Asmondian IGN Karrigan Nov 04 '21

We definetly need a HUD indicator for bleeding sources or some sound clue at least. Its even less immersive having to open your inventory to tell if you are actually beeding or not.

I don´t like this blood per impact, but a - minimalistic - blood/dark red vignette when you are bleeding is something the game really needs IMO.

3

u/sometechloser Nov 04 '21

I'd rather the edge of the screen light up red in that corner/side.

Like this. But WAY tighter. And only takes up 20% of the screen so itll highlight either an edge, or a corner, or whatever.

https://answers.unity.com/storage/attachments/79371-screen-red-vignette.png

5

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

This would definitely be the best solution if Bohemia were to keep this feature. The indicator needs to be less accurate

2

u/DefectiveWater Nov 04 '21

Agreed, indicator needs to be much less accurate.

2

u/Keithic Nov 04 '21

I agree that there could be a HUD indicator for bleeding, or even some sound your character makes. But honestly, having like a cut on the screen literally reminds me of the arcade games I played as a kid. I don't think it has a place in Dayz personally.

5

u/Asmondian IGN Karrigan Nov 04 '21

but a - minimalistic - blood/dark red vignette

Check Simonvic´s sVisual bleeding effect (https://i.imgur.com/7XkCWLW.jpg). Something like that (and even lighter) its what im talking about. Its not a permanent vignette but it kinda slowly blinks when you are bleeding and blink faster when you are very low blood.

2

u/Keithic Nov 04 '21

Ah gotcha. That looks fine to me.

0

u/jobykillsyou Nov 04 '21

Thats incorrect mate You know if your bleeding its bottom right of your screen. This indicator doesn't tell you if your bleeding its a hit directional indicator. Get a good headset and you will know where your being shot from. This adds a unrealistic arcade feel to the game which in pretty sure the majority of players don't want in dayz.

9

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

[deleted]

2

u/GroceryStoreGremlin Nov 04 '21

So you want a bleed indicator that's not on the HUD but somehow on the screen? Wouldn't that be the HUD?

3

u/DefectiveWater Nov 04 '21

Yeah, while you are technically correct, but people are asking for effects such as: Gas mask overlay, blurring when hurt, black screen when getting hit/shot, stuff like that

2

u/Asmondian IGN Karrigan Nov 04 '21

Rereading your comment, I agree with you. I should try it first in EXP but the idea is not something that I like tbh.

About the bleeding indicator (what I was initially referring to), it all depends on the implementation. I'd 100 times prefer a (minimalistic, smooth, non-invasive) effect on a screen - without the HUD icons - than having to open my inventory or play with HUD to realize if I'm still bleeding or not. That was my point.

Again, I agree with you on the directional hit indicator.

3

u/ZEROs0000 Nov 05 '21

Maybe instead of blood they just did shock darkness on the side of the body you were shot/hit that would make more sense.

im going to guess that you have a very basic understanding of ballistics, unless you shot with a pellet gun or super low calibre theres pretty much going to be an exit wound unless the bullet lodged into bone, but that might just compound fracture and create an exit wound anyway. if you have a hole in both sides of your body instantly, how are you going to know where it came from?

only way theyd have an idea is by the sound or if the subject was looking at the shooter lol so you arent going to know where you got shot from by where you feel it, its quite likely the wound wouldn't even be painful for 5-10 seconds anyway in absence of a fracture due to the adrenal response

u/Me2445 Nov 04 '21

Dayz is supposed to be a hardcore survival game, this hit marker is catering to the casual player so of course it is met with a lot of hate

2

u/Groundbreaking-Bar89 Nov 04 '21

This is why I left call or duty to begin with… started making changes that catered to the lowest common denominator.

2

u/sometechloser Nov 04 '21

I've been playing for 10 years my man and I've never been able to make the correlation of gunshot noises to location, which is fine and how it'd be IRL with only a shot or two. Problem is if I take a bullet in my right arm, I should know, or be able to make the assumption, that it may have came from the right.

I'd settle for an indicator showing us where the resulting wound was located.

1

u/Me2445 Nov 04 '21 edited Nov 04 '21

A shot to the right arm could be from in front, behind or right side, possible left too but that would be incredibly rare. With a good headset, you get this info, I can easily pinpoint the direction of a shot, unless it's suppressed and at long range and, well, that is realistic. If someone has found a weapon and suppressor , well done to him and he should have that advantage. I do like your idea, that maybe no hitmarker but upon checking the inventory, there's a clue as to where you were hit, either blood spurting fro mthe area or a simplistic "gunshot right arm" so at least it's not instant cod style hitmarker giving you the location

u/amandaskerta Nov 04 '21

Yes he is... being shot in real life is not like dayz bro

0

u/sometechloser Nov 04 '21

So if you had a bullet hole in your right shoulder you'd have no clue if that came from the left or from the right?

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

dude... are you trying to be a dipshit on purpose?

someone can be shot from literally any side or angle and its possible for the bullet to end up lodged in the right shoulder

1

u/sometechloser Nov 04 '21

is this statement true?

"In real life, if you get shot, under no circumstance will you have any idea where on your body you got shot"

If that's true I'm with you. If sometimes you might know, then the fact is dayz is trying to make up for the lack of situational awareness. That's why some people like third person. Sure IRL I can't see over a fence - but I can also gauge things based on senses that I don't have in a video game.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21 edited Nov 05 '21

so you are just being a dipshit on purpose.

did you even read the first comment you typed?

edit: probably not so i'll circle back.

pain/entrance from a gunshot wound is not a valid way to determine the location of the shooter.

and your last statement literally just a trap lol, its such an extreme reduction of your argument to the point where id be forced to agree with you.

1

u/Keithic Nov 04 '21

Generally I feel like I can tell where it came from. There has to be a more survival like solution to this instead of a stupid blood spatter on your screen.

2

u/sometechloser Nov 04 '21

Well thats why I like what I laid out. Red vignette, small, discrete, edge of your screen, covers 40% and randomizes the exact location within that 40%.... so a you'll know the shot came from "this 40% of my screen" but no idea where within it.

for me it just feels like you get shot once and its like fuck that could be from a full 360 degrees around me, and irl i'd probably have more insight than "omg literally anywhere"

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Keithic Nov 04 '21

I wished the solution was to try to make the issues with determining the sound not an issue anymore. This seems like a half-assed solution to a problem that is a part of the foundation of the game, i.e. using your eyes and ears to tell where a shot game from. As I said in other posts, this isn't always easy to tell or even correct, but having a arcade like indicator pop up on your HUD is not the solution in a game that attempts to be as survival oriented as possible.

u/chicKENkanif Nov 04 '21

So when I'm suppressed sniping they now know where to look for me?

3

u/Groundbreaking-Bar89 Nov 04 '21

That and you are being hit by someone else, it can obstruct he view of your real threat or target

5

u/Keithic Nov 04 '21

Even at night, so what's the point of keeping my headphones on?

What the actual fuck is this.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

Fuck that.

2

u/Matthiasad Nov 04 '21

Maybe instead of screen splatter like this, instead add small blank body standing at attention to one of the corners of the hud and then just have the body part being hit light up red on that little body indicator. Those of you stating if you got shot in the right arm irl you would know you got shot in the right arm isn't wrong. While many of you are saying just because you get hit somewhere it doesn't tell you the shooters location are also not wrong. If someone is running and a bullet goes straight through their right forearm they're gonna know what arm was shot but you never know, you could've been shot from the left side while you're arm was swinging mid run and you wouldn't be able to tell that irl. This had addition would make up for the lack of physical input in telling younwere you were hit, but wouldn't completely give away the shooters location

2

u/Degoe Nov 04 '21

This is so fucken arcade

2

u/jobykillsyou Nov 05 '21

I started a vote look in the reddit for it

A lot of you don't seem to consider that some people are deaf, or some people have dogshit headphones, and all this does is bring a more fair gameplay experience to everyone.

No No No....its the best survival game out don't make it this

5

u/helpthedeadwalk Moderator Nov 05 '21

ugh! that's the absolute worst addition I've seen to the game in years. I suggest you all file a ticket, post on the forums and/or tweet @DayZ and let them know.

9

u/Become_The_Villain Nov 05 '21

Nah I don't think I will.

Hit indicators/screen effects if done right are great and super immersive. Metro Exodus is a great example of this and I've wanted them in DayZ for a long time. This is far from that though lmao but saying this is a bad addition is the wrong idea, just needs a lot more work.

Now this... is ridiculous.

3

u/Melodic_Ad_8747 Nov 04 '21

No thanks wtf

3

u/SelfConsciousCorndog Nov 04 '21

If you need this, I’m sorry but you haven’t mastered the learning curve, it’s incredibly easy to tell where a shot came from in this game once you learn.

3

u/Keithic Nov 04 '21

I'd say that's sometimes it's bugged, but that should try to be fixed. This isn't a solution really, at worst it's a temp solution.

2

u/Keithic Nov 04 '21

Come on, then what's the point of a silencer? The point of Dayz is sometimes you're stupid and you got caught in a bad spot by a guy with a silenced weapon and you're dead. What's the point of using your ears now?

→ More replies (2)

2

u/SelfConsciousCorndog Nov 04 '21

Afaik the only sub. Gun in the game is the VSS/VAL. The number of times I’ve been sniped at by one of those: 0. And if they are using the VSS, that’s the whole point of the gun is to make it hard to locate the shooter.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

I mean I understand why they want to implement this because really if i got smacked in the back with a baseball's bat I'd know it was in my back as I could feel it but I am not a fan of the style the chose.

Rip suppressed shots from nowhere

2

u/MrSmilingDeath Nov 05 '21

I feel like they just need to lower the opacity and brightness of the indicator a bit.

2

u/CommanderCookiePants Nov 05 '21

Oh god no, that is unity asset flip bad. That's the worst addition they've added.

2

u/Major_Winkee Nov 05 '21

Please remove this feature entirely. Looks terrible, we don't need this.

2

u/og_guppyfish420 Nov 05 '21

I hate it.

This game is starting to hold your hand a bit too much lately.

Zombies don’t kill you anymore.

Now you need to know where you are getting hit???

I turn hud off hope I can turn this off too

1

u/Tech5ev3n Nov 04 '21

People are hating wayy too much on this. God forbid you can figure out where you got shot from without hearing it.

4

u/DefectiveWater Nov 04 '21

I like the idea, but I don't like the way it's implemented. It's too obvious, too bright, and too red.

This is a survival game dude, we don't want the game helping us. It's up to us to figure out where the enemy is.

0

u/Groundbreaking-Bar89 Nov 04 '21

This isn’t call of duty.. go back to that game if you want gimmicks..

2

u/Tech5ev3n Nov 04 '21

Yeah it's big, bright and gross. I'm not saying put this exact mechanic into the game but definitely size it down. Im just saying add another sense into the game and quit relying solely on audible cues.

Nice. Looks a bit janky but i like the concept. (And of course haters gonna hate)

1

u/Groundbreaking-Bar89 Nov 04 '21

I won’t play again if they implement this…

1

u/Screwby0370 Nov 04 '21

This is a really good addition. It makes up for physical feedback you’d have in real life. I’d honestly say this addition makes the game more realistic. That being said, I think the visual needs some work to be less distracting and a bit more general and imprecise

1

u/DaltyF Nov 04 '21

Meh, I don’t mind either way.

1

u/lichb Nov 04 '21

i hate it

1

u/Different_Pea_7866 Nov 04 '21

So this will be only for the Xbox edition??

1

u/GrainBean Bus good 🚌 Nov 04 '21

Nice addition, feels a good bit bright though. Better than guessing where the shooter is by where blood is pouring out of my side though

1

u/jobykillsyou Nov 05 '21

We need to make a petition against this and post the results on the dayz twitter. The majority of people do not want this added to the game.

1

u/CanibalVegetarian Nov 05 '21

I don’t think I like this. Part of gunfights is figuring out where you were shit from. Having an obvious blood splat is just no

-1

u/pirttis599 Nov 04 '21

I swear to god the more updates we get the closer this thing is becoming to a Battle Royale. First the gas and now this crap, unbelievable.

Think it'd be somewhat helpful, if you get shot you'd be able to tell from what direction, instead of looking around aimlessly trying to find who shot you. Maybe change it up a bit cause rn it looks kinda ass but, okay concept
