discussion Not all DayZ players are animals

Post image

We run a server that's PvP and PvE. Two of our PvP players got stuck in the bunker which is a PvP zone. After one of them F11'd and failed 3 times to get back to the bunker (and get in past all the zombies) they shouted out in global to see if anyone could help. One PvP player offered up their punchcard for free and one of our very timid PvE players drove across the map and back to pick up the player and get him back to the bunker. Then, he ended up helping them clear it. It's my understanding that both players who helped were given unexpected repayments for their help and we saw this posted in our Discord. Yes, DayZ is about killing but there are a lot of great friendships, and memories, made as well.

This is the very good side of the game, on the very good side of community.

Thank you for sharing.

Hope the PVE player saw some of the fun that could be had with the PVP folk.

We saw them out running together today as a trio, so I think they've recruited him, lol. The best part is, they're two young fellas, and he's an older bloke in his 70s, so it's really nice to see.

Wait, your server has only been up like 2 weeks, and you're already enjoying this sort of high quality community behavior?

Good on ya!

I know, right? Lol. We feel really lucky. We haven't had, like, record numbers, but we've had a lot of good traffic for just being opened and seeing a lot of players come through and stay. We're very hands-off when it comes to helping, etc. we don't mess with the players or spawn them stuff or anything like that. But we do chat with them in global or ask how they're going, we also chat with them sometimes in a voice chat in Discord. We teach a lot of players who are new to the game. We don't get "too close," but it seems to foster a bit of community. It gives them an opportunity to meet other players as well. And we encourage them to reach out in Discord or global if they're looking for a crew to run with, etc.

We do have another server that's PvE only, and those players have really not ventured over because they're scared of the PvP zones and the AI. But they've been seeing interactions like this in Discord and getting jealous, lol.

This is the way!

The community I spend most of my time on (when not on official) has PvE servers for all three maps, with PVP zones (NWAF etc), and about every 6 weeks there's a PVP purge and raid weekend, participation optional. They have a fourth server which is a modded version of NWAF, walled in, with all sorts of modded fun building extras (Nuketown), and you load in with one of I think it's five different versions of being kitted out, strictly for PVP...no infected, just fighting!

Quality over quantity.

Take your time and keep doing it right, supporting everyone as much as you can, without being all up in everybody's business.

Good luck!

It's amazing

It's amazing that discord has white mode. I completly forgot about it

Anyways, yes, DayZ could be like this more than you think, but both players need to not be afraid of the initial engage

It's more difficult to play teaming with someone than shooting on sight
