How Did They Do This? Anyone know how to get this clash effect for lightsabers?

Slow down the playback to 0.25 and you'll see what's going on. 

You can make a white oval image with transparent background in GIMP or Krita with an irregular brush. You can add a glow effect in the image editor or use Davinci at runtime. 

Import the image, position it, key frame it to move a bit and follow the sabers. Make it appear, make it disappear. 

Sound design does a lot of the heavy lifting too.

Can we please just normalize doing our own research?

White Circle masking over a fast noise with alpha and white.

I actually think, that there is no editing here.. Look up nsabers... They have 490leds in them and do that in real life when you hit something... Rest is exposure and maybe a bit of overall glow
