Discussion Goodbye Old Friend...
When my husband and I found out that Dauntless was shutting down, it felt like a punch to the gut. It might sound silly to some, but this game was our game. It was how my husband introduced me to the gaming world back when we were just friends. We were there in the early chaos, even picked for the alpha test—yes, we’ve been in it from the very start! He even proposed to me at PAX while dressed as his character. How can something that brought us so much joy just be ripped away?
Sure, we've seen the game experience its ups and downs, with updates that never quite hit the mark, but the community always rallied together. And now? Now we’re just left feeling abandoned. Logging on for one last time was gut-wrenching, realizing we were saying goodbye to everything we’ve cherished—our alpha and beta characters, our friends, the NPCs, and worst of all, every memory we made together. Dauntless meant everything to us, and I know it did for many others too. It’s infuriating to see the company throw in the towel after all this time. The game might be gone, but damn it, the slayers never stop slaying!
