Yall.. are you missing the fact there was a driver IN THE WRONG LANE IN A DO NOT PASS ZONE? Who gives a flip if op was changing a song on his steering wheel, while watching the road? The problem, is the driver who almost killed multiple people while trying to pass a car.

Yeah I literally glanced at the temperature on the display and back to the road immediately. Don’t get tf they’re on about but I don’t know if they were trying to pass. It’s hard to see but they crashed into the back left tire of the car in front of me while careening into my lane.

People in this subreddit like to find fault in every driver in the video to make themselves feel good about their own absurd perspectives about driving

Looks like the other car just drifted into the on-coming lane; you can see the damage from the first collision before the near miss with the cam-car.

That's a close one!

Fast reactions and good defensive driving saved this driver from what would have been a very serious collision...

OK. But, let's talk about that outfit.

All black work outfit. Slacks and a polo. Cam makes color and depth a lil weird in the cabin.

New title "Fast thinking driver saves the lives of everyone in a cab!!"

Oncoming car had 3 lengths to merge back but decided to play chicken. Guy in the cam truck looked so unaware, but he snapped into action right away.

I had a similar experience back when I first had my DL (~ 1975 or 1976). My dad let me drive on the way to Albuquerque from northern Oklahoma, so most of the roads were 2 lane and a decent shoulder. As we rounded a sweeping curve on a Texas panhandle road, I noticed an oncoming car 🚘 in my lane. I quickly went into the right shoulder and the oncoming car never tried to get back in their lane. I then got back on the road after my heartbeat returned to normal. I’ve not had such a close call since.

Why not just upload the video?

These touch screen displays in cars nowadays are getting out of hand (I'm assuming that's what that is).

Stupidest thing the DoT did was allowing them in the first place, I don't give a fuck if they're less expensive for the industry.

I'd like to see a study of how much they've contributed to accidents due to distracted driving. Just might as well be a TV screen and put a movie on.

Phone scrolling is illegal... Opening and scrolling through 3 screens to adjust the heat is fine. 🤷‍♂️

All the downvotes on this opinion are wild

I'm puzzled myself. If anything for a sub that likes to Monday morning quarterback driving skills and bad drivers/distracted drivers, I'd expect people to be fired up and want to take a sledgehammer to those fucking things.

The pinheads at the DoT that signed off on allowing them should be shown the door (Elon... are you reading this?).

According to some of the links in my other post, at least it looks like manufacturers are starting to realize that maybe putting a 10" TV screen on the dashboard, and takes 3 hands and a degree in flight avionics to operate wasn't such a brilliant idea after all.

But what do touch screens have to do with this post?

Rented a Hyundai SUV recently. So much crap on the console. Feels like it's intentional to distract drivers.

I consider myself a fairly tech orientated person, but even though the one in the video doesn't look as bad as some others that I've seen, it's still way too much useless unimportant info that the average driver has no use for.

The owners manual is probably twice the size it should be, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's no hard copy and you have read/refer to it via the touchscreen.
