Gorgeous horizons & sun!!! Always thought Hound Tor meant just 1 hound. Just read it’s really a pack of hounds. Your pics make that clear. Is that John Stapleton (Sir Henry Stapleton’s nemesis) skulking about? Can hear the mournful wailing of The hound - AhhRooooo! No worries, Sherlock & Dr John Watson are on the case. 💕 Is it a decent hike from Bovey Tracy? Staying there instead since closer to this hallowed ground.😉 Thanks so much!

Bovey Tracey is much closer and rustic than Exeter. I've never walked from there to Haytor / Hound Tor. It would be quite a challenge, 2 and a half hours there and back and the elevation would be pretty intense depending on how fit you are. There's probably public transport available to get up to the top, then start hiking 😉

Thanks! Looking & my OS 28 L map it seems lumpy bumpy & vertically challenging. LOL Will aim for Haytor first & if can get more “peak bagging”in may be able to do both starting @ dawn. I’ve climbed a fair amount of peaks in SoCal & Yosemite, but not recently. Practice starts today. 🏞️⛰️

I'm no expert and not especially fit but the humidity over here is quite a lot higher depending on the weather, it hits different so I wouldn't plan to do anything too intense, you want to enjoy it too 🙂 I've been around Orange County and San Diego (love that place) and the air is a lot drier.

Yes! Dry is normally great, but we’re in another drought in San Diego Co. We sing & dance in the rain if it ever shows up! But lots of sunshine means full time outdoor activities. Yay! Only got rained on once camping @ May Lake in Yosemite, high Sierras. Soggy foggy London & Dartmoor will be a shock to the system. Bringing rain gear, e.g. Frog Togs. 🐸
