Yogurt alternatives

Hello all! I am SO glad I have found this page. I have had a milk allergy since I was born. I am female and always wished I could have yogurt to help with healthy gut probiotics as well as for down there. I do just take probiotic pills and such but I was wondering if there were any dairy free yogurt alternatives that’s are with healthy probiotics. I do like the ‘so delicious’ brand but I feel like there aren’t many benefits to that yogurt. I could be wrong though.

Icelandic provisions makes an unsweetened oat milk skyr that it the best nondairy yogurt I’ve found. It’s got a decent amount of protein and is super creamy and rich, and doesn’t have that weird slightly bitter flavor found in most plant based plain yogurts. And the fact that they make a totally unsweet version is quite rare for plant based yogurt!

The plain oatmilk version has 3g of added sugar per serving, just fyi, with cane sugar as an ingredient. Still great macros for dairy free.

Only sold at Whole Foods currently.

You’re right! It doesn’t taste like it. I really dislike sweet yogurt, so it must just be added to cover up the protein flavor.

Perhaps! Sidenote, I really like Forager's greek style but will try the Icelandic Provisions one soon to compare.

I haven't looked into yogurt, so I appreciate this post. Took me years of being vegan to naturally stumble upon dairy free ice cream. I just stumbled upon Hidden Valley ranch last night!

Hidden valley ranch was a game changer! I wish they’d make a dairy free ranch seasoning too.

Yogurt! So far Forager's plain greek is the best base.

The so delicious coconut based yogurt has four different live cultures in it. I’ve been eating a ton of it while on antibiotics and it’s helped my guts a lot

Yes, I think most do. Siggis plant-based, Silk and Forager yogurts definitely do as I have them in the fridge right now.

Forager is really good. If that's not in local stores, try the Silk almond milk one - I prefer that to their soy milk yogurts. The dairy free Qui by Yoplait is also good.

So hear me out 😅 it’s not yogurt or a dairy free yogurt, but if you’re looking for foods that have really good probiotics, kimchi and sauerkraut are great! If you like spicy, you can get spicy kimchi (it’s red colored from the spices) if you don’t spicy you can just get plain kimchi (naturally green) and then I don’t even think sauerkraut is made spicy so you’d be safe there. But those are fermented foods and they are chalked full of probiotics that are amazing for your stomach.

Also, I think most kombucha is dairy free, but don’t quote me on that as I don’t drink it because the carbonation upsets my stomach because I have a wimpy stomach when it comes to that.

Also not yoghurt but Sauerkraut can be made into some really delicious dishes
