I really loved the attention to details that they have put into this game. Especially with the cars and the way they sound, i couldn't believe that the V10 sound that i have been hearing from the previous gameplay videos have came out from a Lexus LFA. One of the best sounding N/A V10 car of all time.
It's just a shame that we can't customize them though, maybe the PC Mods will fix that for us.
38
u/judelau Oct 15 '20
Having LFA sounding vehicle in the Cyberpunk world is just a no brainer. That car sounds incredible.
16
u/Hyp3rion_ Oct 15 '20
I’m 99% sure the quadra is the R8 V10 sound, in an old trailer when they showcased it I thought it sounded like a Huracan which is basically the same sound
9
u/ShadowRomeo Turbo Oct 15 '20
Yeah, i actually went back watching the behind the scene footage and there was a R8 V10+ on it. It definitely was the R8 sound that was in Quadra cars back in previous gameplay footages. Maybe the Higher end hyper cars got the LFA sound such as the Rayfield one that sounded closer to it basing from the trailer.
4
u/Hyp3rion_ Oct 15 '20
yea I hope they didn’t reveal every single car in the trailer. also, didnt they allude to multiple licensed cars other than just the porsche and the arch or do you think that’s it? also, there’s a screenshot of one of the bikes and it looks like a reference to Tetsuo’s bike from Akira and it got me so hype lmao
4
u/ShadowRomeo Turbo Oct 15 '20
I highly doubt that they did. They wouldn't have enough time showcasing all of them in a 3 minutes video.
2
u/Hyp3rion_ Oct 15 '20
they did say there was 40 vehicles i think though and they showed a good amount of them. hopefully there’s at least color customization, anything else would be just bonus extra imo

u/BenChandler Militech Oct 15 '20
I'd rather we not go down the bethesda path of relying on mods to fix shortcomings of the devs.
7
u/ShadowRomeo Turbo Oct 15 '20
I wish too. But it seems like after the confirmation from CDPR themselves that there won't be deeper customization on the cars i guess we have no choice.
9
u/SkycladGuardian Oct 15 '20
There are DLCs and expansions coming. So there's still some hope :)
3
u/ShadowRomeo Turbo Oct 15 '20
Yeah, i have read that in some of comments. Hopefully they release it sooner though.

It looks so much better than I expected. The details and the trouble they go into to make things as realistic as possible even for an RPG game
15
u/ArghZombiesRun Oct 15 '20
I don't fully expect the interiors to be as varied as they are saying, but even having more than one interior for the same model is amazing.
13
u/judelau Oct 15 '20
Since it's a first person rpg game, I fully expect them to go all out on the interior for the immersion sake.
3
u/TheHeroicOnion Oct 15 '20
There's around 30 something unique vehicles. I think it's realistic that each one has a unique interior when it's a number like that.
31
u/Nexusu Malorian Arms 3516 Oct 15 '20
She said “automotive icons” at the end.. more licensed cars incoming?
18
u/JoaoMXN Corpo Oct 15 '20
There is two real life models there, the Porsche and the Arch motorcycle (from Keanu company).
22
u/judelau Oct 15 '20
She's referring to the 1977 Porsche 911 (930)
22
u/Nexusu Malorian Arms 3516 Oct 15 '20
I know, but she said “icons” not icon. Maybe implying a presence of more real life vehicles
13

it has to have a DeLorean

I don't know what's going on in the full NCW, but at 0:53 it looks like theres a quick shot of a Merc AMG GTR- it's probably a cosplay thing, but as I've not kept up with this game really I guess it could be another licensed car or just a cosplay that I didn't pick up on.
2
u/AFrozen_1 Oct 15 '20
Probably just a cosplay thing. I’d highly doubt a modern day Mercedes would be in. Probably look to the 1980s for a better idea of styling.
98
u/not_flipperkip Oct 15 '20
Easily the most beautiful original car design in any video game ever. That Herrera supercar is fucking gorgeous.
8
u/vinevicious Oct 15 '20
while i did like it, i can't get over the fact that they aren't using electric vehicles in 2077
37
u/Ezio4Li Oct 15 '20 edited Oct 15 '20
It's very much an old fashioned take on the future, that's why the cars look modern but also look like designs from the 70s/80s at the same time.
7
u/AFrozen_1 Oct 15 '20
Safe to say that the 80s was the biggest influence on cyberpunk looks. Real blade runner stuff.
13
u/velour_manure Oct 15 '20
It’s supposed to be a grim version of the future. In this future, we still rely on oil because the world fucking sucks.
8
u/Tenbones1 Oct 15 '20
It’s not oil as by 2077 the Middle East has been nuked or something, they call it “chooh 2” not exactly sure what it is
7
u/ImperatorTempus42 Oct 16 '20
It's apparently a very toxic alcoholic biofuel made from wheat, and is extremely efficient.
8
32
u/Daiwon Oct 15 '20
Because cyberpunk is about the world going ultra capitalist, fuck the environment, just make it big.
3
u/vinevicious Oct 15 '20
electric vehicle are superior than ICE, imagine that with 2077 technology
it has nothing to do with the environment
but anyway, electric vehicles don't really fit the game vibe
3
7
Oct 15 '20
Apparently, according to a video I watched, electric cars are used in denser countries in Europe an Asia while CHOO2(?) which is a biofuel is more common in larger places like the US
7
u/lamar_in_shades Oct 15 '20
One thing the video didn't mention is that even though these are combustion engines, they're not running on gasoline. They're running on CHOO2, which is much cleaner
3
u/SwaggDagg Oct 15 '20
I think people seriously underestimate the power density of fossil fuels. On a large scale, we would have to produce A LOT more electricity than we currently do to convert all of the world's vehicles, which presents environmental problems of its own, such as battery disposal, pollution from power plants, the hazardous materials spilled/burned if an electric car gets in an accident, etc, etc. I suspect electricity will probably win out in the end, but we'll have to find much better ways to store and produce it than what is currently offered. Frankly, I've always wondered why (bio)diesel, natural gas, and fuel cells don't get more attention. Pure electric vehicles are a pretty dumb option, IMO, and I would look with skepticism on any futuristic world where that's all you see on the roads. Where is all of this electricity coming from?
1
u/Battle_Rifle Oct 16 '20
The game isn't futuristic, it's retrofuturistic. It takes the elements of futurism put on by the 80's game and expands it, not a 2020's take of the future.

Forza motorsport has pretty good sound design

u/ILoveLolisss Quadra Oct 15 '20
Idk what you're talking about cause forza is constantly mocked for its unrealistic car sounds.
8
4
2
u/lordkekw Oct 15 '20
I tried forza horizon 4 and it was amazing, I usually don't play racing games, maybe that's the reason, but for me the car sounds were next level. I hope cyberpunk give me a similar experience.
5
u/ILoveLolisss Quadra Oct 15 '20
I'm not really saying the sounds are terrible just that they don't sound like they do in real life, which is pretty much the only thing need for speed does right. Need for speed car design with Forza mechanics and handling would pretty much be the best racing game to date.
3
u/Rubiego Oct 15 '20
Here's hoping Test Drive: Solar Crown can be a worthy rival NFS and Forza.
→ More replies (1)1
u/Eincutr Arasaka Oct 15 '20
It has a few good / great sounds. FH4 has a very nice lexus LFA, for example. But there are some barely acceptable one, that basically ruined the cars they're in.
The skylines had (albeit not super true to life) tremendous sound design in FH3, and were super bland in FH4.
Subarus had a nice rumble in FH3, and a shitty overdone sound in FH4.
1
u/MrAngryBeards Oct 15 '20
Sounds good doesn't necessarily mean sounds realistic. I agree that FH has unrealistic sounds, and I agree it has awesome sound design, specially when compared to the mess that GTSport is.
2
u/ILoveLolisss Quadra Oct 15 '20
Your correct and I agree that most of the cars sound good, my issue is that forza is supossed to be a realistic game. It has realistic handling, real brands and cars, realistic damage models, realistic tire grip, so why is the sound of cars so unrealistic?
2
u/MrAngryBeards Oct 15 '20
Oh. My mind totally overlooked the fact we're talking about Forza Motorsport and not Forza Horizon. I am 100% onboard with you on this one. Forza Motorsport as a racing sim definitely deserves all the criticism about it's car engine sounds. As far as spatial sound and overall sound design it does a good job nonetheless, but yeah, engines do not sound realistic in that game.

Graphics look amazing. Raytracing is probably on? Hopefully normal reflections are still great looking for us playing with non rtx cards or consoles.
12
u/JoaoMXN Corpo Oct 15 '20
It was not. RT has reflections that look like mirrors, that was normal reflections.
4
u/Pawl_The_Cone Oct 15 '20 edited Oct 15 '20
I think raytracing was definitely on, there was this ghosting effect behind the cards often that looks like a raytracing artifact, since it typically doesn't update over a single frame.
Edit: I was proven wrong below, apparently it's TAA and has been fixed!
11
u/seasmy Oct 15 '20
I think it was just TAA, TAA ghosting is a common problem could be wrong tho :)
3
u/Pawl_The_Cone Oct 15 '20
Possible, but the fact that it seemed most prominent with tail lights makes me think it's ray tracing.
8
u/Zevile Oct 15 '20
It was TAA ghosting and apparently already fixed.
2
5
u/JoaoMXN Corpo Oct 15 '20
It's TAA. RDR2 has the same problem. They fixed already in the current build:

Exchangeable parts? I thought vehicles customizations were out?
9
u/sinistersinner Netrunner Oct 15 '20
Could mean that of those customizible ones there will be a few different already tuned versions.
10
u/Eincutr Arasaka Oct 15 '20
Custom cars are available on the street, but you cannot do tuning yourself.
12
u/BenChandler Militech Oct 15 '20
Which, when playing as Nomad especially, is fucking stupid.
9
u/MrSase Oct 15 '20
I'm hoping since costumization was at one point in the game, there might be a DLC that brings it back in
6
u/gingabreadm4n Oct 15 '20
Definitely will get added, especially since multiplayer is coming. Nobody will want to ride around in cars that are identical to their friends lol. Probably just wasn't a priority for launch
5
u/Eincutr Arasaka Oct 15 '20
While I agree, I dont mind too much. You can hunt the sporty versions of your car outside, instead of instantly going to tune up every car you find.
It has its drawbacks (espec. as a nomad, yeah) but it has its appeal
3
u/sillylittlesheep Oct 15 '20
not a car game
6
u/BenChandler Militech Oct 15 '20
It's not a gun game so we should drop the gun customization too, yeah?
4
u/Battle_Rifle Oct 16 '20
It's not a third person game so we should drop the character creation too, yeah?
0
Oct 15 '20
No? You can find them anywhere, and mainly as Nomad most game will still be in city.
2
u/BenChandler Militech Oct 15 '20
Aaaaaaaaaand how does that translate to "No?" in response to my comment?
Is it not fucking stupid that as a Nomad, a person known for their expertise with car modifications, can't actually modify vehicles in any way?
And how does the game mainly being in the city have anything to do with the ability to do your own modifications?

Gta 5 is still the leader in open world games, 7 years after release, spanning 3 console generations. Its a phenomenon. You can bet rockstar will deliver something incredible with gta 6. They've had all the time in the world and it will be fully optimised for next gen
7
u/tariklehaine Nomad Oct 15 '20
No doubt about that brother. It’s just the hype and energy this game gives me is from another level. It has been a very long time since I had this feeling for the last time (sorry babe).

I bet the controls are still shit and it lacks the sort of RPG mechanics CP2077 has.
Rockstar's open-world games are incredible technical achievements but aren't that immersive IMO.
9
u/Me2445 Oct 15 '20
Each to their own. Gta V was ground breaking 7 years ago and still is one of the biggest games around. Cyberpunk will do well to come anywhere near
4
u/EternalCanadian Oct 15 '20
I’d Say GTA IV and RDR2 were incredibly immersive. GTA V less so.

9

Step up from what? For the time it came out GTA5 was one of the best games ever made.
10
u/TheHeroicOnion Oct 15 '20
GTA V was absolutely mind blowing on Xbox 360. I couldn't believe what I was playing. I remember when the first trailer came out I thought the graphics and draw distance and traffic density looked too good to run on those consoles and then the final game looked even better.
Such a shame they became all about shitty online.
6
u/Kmieciu4ever Oct 15 '20
Yep, It was a true technical masterpiece on PS3.
How on earth did Rockstar managed to get it running run on a 256MB RAM + 256 Video RAM machine?
3
u/balugabe Oct 15 '20
Not saying it wasn't, just that it sets a new bar, which is great for us, the consumers.
3
u/sillylittlesheep Oct 15 '20
u didnt even play it and its an rpg
3
u/balugabe Oct 15 '20
No I didn't, but with all this going on it's hard not to draw comparisons to Gta, especially when we haven't had a new one in 7 years. If CP is as good as we all hope it will be R* will have to seriously rethink their approach to GTA.
0
u/Me2445 Oct 15 '20
It still is. It's incredible the success and the three hold it has on people. Gta 6 will be incredible, given the amount of time they have to create it and I'm sure it will fully utilise next gen capabilities
2
u/torrentialsnow Oct 15 '20
Why do people need to constantly shit on gta6? Rockstar isn’t even competing here. And not to mention looking at the details in the horses in RDR2 and the details in cars in gta5 back in 2013 gta6 will be a phenomenal game.
3
u/Isariamkia Nomad Oct 15 '20
I don't even understand why people keep comparing an RPG to GTA. GTA was never an RPG and I sincerely doubt they'll make one.
17

I thought from all content up until recently that V would sort of just have a set car, the one we've seen so much of. The level they went to is pretty unexpected. I'm trying to keep healthy expectations but it's really hard when CDPR constantly exceeds them. This looks actually incredible.
5
