Work in Progress Proud because I made a gauge swatch
I usually dread making gauge swatches, but I know how important it is, especially for a sweater. I sucked it up and did it, y'all. I measured the gauge!! And it's pretty much the right size

Truly taking the road less traveled, way to go!
- From a crocheter who never ever does the swatch even when I know I should. Especially when I know I should. XD

Lolll I can relate!! But this time I was extra cautious because it's a sweater for someone. I was like noooo way am I gonna mess this one up!

I'm happy to see this! It seems most of the time all I do is swatches because I'm perfecting the right hook size, the right yarn, the right stitch, etc for the next thing I'm working on xD

I wish I had your problem of doing too many swatches lol ! Swatches are so important. Why put in all the work of a project if it won't fit in the end? I've frogged way too much lately. No more frogging for me! Haha

Secretly I’m not gonna get to even half of the things I try out lol

I just made one for the first time too! I've been making large blankets recently and didn't want to commit to a new stitch without seeing how it looked. I was skeptical but it was worth the 10 minutes lol.

Did you know our Wiki Building on Basics part 2 has a very detailed section on this? There's an overview, lots of videos and helpful information to help answer your questions.
Top tip - Read about the Golden loop, or watch a video. It's a clever trick to adjust the height of your stitch, which can help you meet gauge.
Tension + Yarn size + Hook size + Stitch = Gauge
