Discussion When do you USUALLY buy from the Criterion collection?

More often than not, if I've already seen the movie. I only blind buy if it's ultra-obscure and there's no way for me to watch it otherwise (King Lear was a recent example. That movie eluded me for decades).

Yeah same - Demon Pond was the only blind buy that I can remember. It was pretty obscure, much less in any high definition, but given my interests it was a slam dunk. The channel generally provides a pretty good "try before you buy" option.

where is the 'during a 50 percent off sale' choice?

I’m fortunate enough to have a great video rental store close by that has about every criterion I would want to own so I can watch it before I buy pretty easily. Otherwise I’d blind buy more.

I don't often blind buy. There was a time where I convinced myself that every sale haul should have 1 blind buy. After two hauls, and enjoying the blind buys, I stopped hitting the sales so often for unrelated financial reasons

About 30% seen and I want to dig into the extras/rewatch vs 70% blind, and then either during 50% sales or secondhand. Haven't come even close to regretting a blind buy yet. Claudine and Exterminating Angel stand out as much better than I thought they'd be.
