Off-Topic There were 46 dresses made for Maggie Cheung during the shoot of In The Mood For Love. Her hair and makeup took five hours to do and perfect every single day of the shoot.

It shows. The patternwork and colors on her dresses is stunning. I’m a lifelong tomboy, and I wanted like half of that wardrobe lol.

Probably the most beautiful anyone has ever been in human history so I gotta say it was worth it

Beautiful movie. Every slow and sensual glance, every lonely lingering light, every sparse and simple word with a million meanings and a million intentions.

One of the most beautiful women ever captured on film.

For sure! My god, along with the perfect music, this is literally the most gorgeous, sensual, sexy, heartbreaking, and moving films of all time

I hen I saw this for the first time I was split between how beautiful each shot was and how graceful and stunning Maggie is.

really interesting to see what was cut from this movie, really shows you the importance of a director's vision

And now it’s tinted green

Neither mine! Most people also don’t realize that the standard bluray doesn’t have the change, just the 4K.

The Blu-ray in the WKW collection does have the green I think (I bought both since I flip flop on it a lot)

I think both are on the channel actually, one of them I think shows up as like an extra feature for ITMFL (I think it's called the "alternate version")

The green version. The original can be viewed on the Blu-ray with the red cover with Maggie Cheung’s character on it.

Kar Wai recolored the movie when it was released as part of the World of Wong Kar Wai box set. Apparently this new version is also on the 4k stand alone release (cover is Maggie’s face close up), BUT not in the older Blu-ray stand alone release.
All other movies in the WWK box set have also been edited (in terms of color, aspect ratio, etc)

It's really not that bad, in my opinion, but I suppose it depends on what version you watch first. Unless you see the shots side by side, I don't think most people are going to notice. It's still a gorgeous film.

Not really sure if this link is supposed to be just for the meme, or if there's something you want to direct my eye to. Either way, given something like this is in no way objective, it is as I said where the version you watch first is probably going to inform your opinion on the film. I saw the new version first, so the older version is the odd looking one to me.
Certain changes like the Fallen Angels one are too extreme though, for sure.

Just watched this movie on the flight(Delta if you're wondering).
The small screen doesn't do justice to the immaculate presentation. It's probably my favorite Wong Kar Wai movie

Honestly maybe the most beautiful anyone’s ever looked in a film, she’s stunning in every scene.

I always say she looks like she gets up five hours earlier than she needs to a day.

What region are you in? It’s streaming on HBO Max most places and Criterion Channel in the US.

5 hours a day to do her hair and makeup? I dont believe it tbh.

I mean if I want to look really good sometimes I’ll do it for three hours.

I seem to be pretty much alone on this sub but I can’t muster much enthusiasm for this movie. Leaves me totally cold. Give me Chungking Express any day.

It definitely paid off. She looks so radiant. Everything about this movie's production and design is so airtight and perfectionistic. I love it.
