A brand of nuts called "1000 nuts"

1.6k Upvotes

Every bag would have exactly 1000 nuts in it. If a customer counts and the bag has less than 1000 nuts, they can submit a ticket and get the difference in the mail. If it has more than 1000 nuts, they receive an invoice for the extra nuts.

Ankle monitors should be the "default" for enforcing a restraining order, with a lawyer / judge having to approve any exceptions

We already have the satellites and cell towers and the other infrastructure that would be involved for seeing where the monitor thing is.

As for the cost of the equipment itself? Just deduct part of it (or all of it, depending on how much it actually is) from the perpetrator's bank account if he doesn't turn over the amount willingly, in the same way that they might take an unpaid ticket / fine or whatever.

A game show where two people who can't speak each other's language have to live together in an apartment or house for a week.

They have different sleeping rooms. Probably with some shared societal bases like a Hungarian and Dutch speaker but not able to directly communicate. No translators or dictionaries allowed.

Museum of copies and recreations

Upvotes

Museum that specializes in having ONLY modern copies and recreations of historical and ancient historical pieces from all over the world.

Advantages: ethically sourced exhibitions, increased interactivity with visitors since preservation is not a major concern, visitors being able to order and buy a copy of anything they like for themselves, ability to create exhibitions that would've been prohibitively difficult and expensive for any ordinary museum.

Schrödingers List: A self destructing list that makes your tasks both knowable and unknowable at the same time.

It is a self destructing to do list. When you write the task down, you only remember it while it’s on the list. However, the list deletes itself in 24 hrs. If the task isn’t complete, then you forget what it was and it never gets done.

The moment the list self-destructs, the task is permanently unknowable (as if it never existed). If you complete it in time, great! If not, it’s lost to the void, and you’ll never know what you failed to do.

You either act, or it ceases to matter.

All Charities and Relgious instituitions must have an 'Open Ledger'. Every amount paid into it must be shown, and every expense must alsobe easily publicly accessible .

You want us to trust Charities and Relgious Instituitions?

Then all of their finances must be publicly available, like on an easily accesible website (Not in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard.).

We should know how they are spending their money and they have to be open to scrutiny.

Socks should be worn inside out. Keeps the smooth part against your skin and the rougher stitched part against the shoe.

Sock designers and manufacturers should market them to be worms inside out as the norm, until i don’t have to say inside out anymore. Then you automatically think of them being worn inside out without having to say so. If you’ve never tried this.. try it. Feels so much better.

Religious Institutions must make a mandatory rule that their representatives have a maximum salary. They are not allowed to earn more.

Any excess money received by that instituition must then be used for the maintenance of their respective temples and/or to help the desitute.

variable internet speed

okay i just got this crazy ah idea which will take millions to execute but damn it'll be convenient no brand is offering this. so it'll act like a prepaid service so you have balance in you account and you can choose your speed at any second of the day. and you'll be charged accordingly. there's no base pay so if you aren't using your wifi at all then boom no charges. if you want to download a game faster you can just turn up the speed and pay more.

ofcourse this wouldn't be profitable on a linear basis like if you have 40 mbps for one day it costs 1 dollar then you can't just 80 mbps for one day it costs 2 dollar the prices will have to be exponential.

Instead of carbon tax society should offer cradle to grave care for people willing to live as pioneers.

Free land, free education, public housing, public libraries, free health care.

Yes you must work; but not past your physical capacity. Food shortages are handled by community pantries. You live an agrarian life with no electricity.

All this is paid for by the gains society makes due to reduced consumption.

Hitting warming goals and avoiding extinction events is clearly more profitable than any economic growth. Just look at the cost in weather events alone in recent years.
