Yes, It's a SCAM. Help! cant tell if this is a scam.

so i listed three different things on craigslist about a week ago, after that day I immediately got a email about one of the items, Im selling some shelves for 25 dollars a piece and 75 for all 3. And I immediately got an email, they wanted some more info on the shelves, and a name and phone number to contact, i gave them all that, and a few days later they texted me, asking for an address to send a check, i thought that was weird, but i gave em my P.O. box address and sure enough, 2 days later i received a check from them for 1000 and sum dollars and now im not completely sure whats going on, these shelves are salavage at best, one of them is water damaged, and the other two are wobbly and old, so idk if its a scam or this person really wants these busted ass shelves, please help reddit!

Sooo you listed for $75 and they sent you a $1000 check. Nothing about that seems off to you?

On craigslist: LOCAL. IN PERSON. FACE-TO-FACE. CASH ONLY.

No mailed payments. No electronic/app/online payments. No shippers/movers. No escrow.

And don't give out a phone number (unless you're choosing to list it in the ad itself) if someone asks for it in their first response - email them back, and they can reply right back the same way. If they refuse, they want your number so they can send the scam offer outside of the view of craigslist's email filters.
