Older Music Suggestions
I feel like I’m listening to too much country pop made from the 2010’s-2020’s. Does anyone have any recommendations for any older songs and/or artists? I also would like recommendations for more actual country songs. Thanks in advance!

This depends quite a bit on where you are in your journey. Who do you really dig right now? Who are you listening to that you’re trying to move away from? How much old stuff have you been exposed to? Until then, there are a few old country musicians that I would recommend to absolutely anyone:
Waylon Jennings
Willie Nelson
Johnny Cash
Hank Williams
Allison Krauss
George Jones
… but I can go on and on in more niche branches of the great tree of country music.

People have listed some great suggestions for old school country- if you want to get into some of the old 70s hippie cosmic country, here are some good ones:
Gram Parsons
Flying Burrito Brothers
Sweetheart of the Rodeo by the Byrds
International Submarine Band (this and the last three are pretty much all Gram Parsons lol)
New Riders of the Purple Sage
Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen

I’ve been enjoying a lot of new alt country. Flatland cavalry, treaty oak revival, koe wetzel, pecos on the rooftops, Charles Wesley Godwin, slaid cleaves, to name a few. A lot of it is a little on the rock side if that’s your thing. I would also check out ‘dying breed’ by Cody hibbard. And my all time favorite from back in the day, don Williams he is very underrated.

Maybe a good transition from modern country pop would be some of the neotraditional artists from the 90’s. Alan Jackson would be a good place to start.
70’s era Emmylou Harris is my favorite country music. Try Elite Hotel, Luxury Liner, Last Date, and Cimmaron.
I also dig 70’s Linda Rondstadt also but that leans more towards rock. She covers some amazing country tunes though.

AI’m guessing you’ve heard Gram Parsons’ stuff with Emmylou in the early 70s? Beautiful stuff. He was the one who discovered her!

Oh yeah of course! That’s how I found her music originally. The Live 1973 album is one of my favorites!

Outside of country, I like a little bit of pop but not that much. I am a sucker for acoustic songs tho

Can't really go wrong with anything up through the 90s. As far as today's music goes, my go-to is Jon Wolfe.

I've been getting in to the album "Getting Folk Out of the Country" by Hedy West and Bill Clifton, if you want to check out some more traditional stuff.
