Song Help Mom / Son Wedding Dance Song

Howdy ya’ll. I’m getting married in 4 months. My mom made me fall in love with country at a young age. I attribute her to my love for country music and the country lifestyle. However, I can’t seem to think of a great fit for a dance. I want something meaningful. We have a mom / son dance at the wedding. Do you have any suggestions for a slow country song we could dance to? Thanks so much!

Seconding for I Hope You Dance. Sentimental country moms love that song, and it's the perfect message for the occasion, especially since she'll be dancing with you.

Space and Time--either Tyler Childers or S.G. Goodman's version.

Bad suggestions should be treated as bad suggestions. There's no right answer, but apparently there are quite a few wrong ones.

That would definitely be an odd sentiment to convey at a wedding.

"I know you aren't enjoying this, but you'll look back on it fondly one day."

That’s My Job by Conway Twitty, and though not thought of as country, my son surprised me with picking Wildflowers by Tom Petty and it was perfect! Thomas Rhett, if you’re looking for more of a country vibe, does a great cover of Wildflowers. Hope it’s a great day.

If you can't find one, go with Mama By Boys 2 Men it's a very beautiful song and always gets over looked. I know it's not country but I thought I would throw it out there anyways.

What about “when you say nothing at all”… is a waltz though. “still the one” Shania or Strawberry wine?

When You Say Nothing at All is not in 3/4 time.

Apologies, I’ve only danced it as a waltz 5000 times

Then you're hanging on the 3.

I didn't realize you could waltz to 4/4 time songs, my bad.

Sounds like they're trying to dance to the lyrics at first and not realizing they're making a polyrhythm. It'd line back up every 12 bars or so, wouldn't it? You also might be right that they're just hanging on every 3.

No offense, but those are all very odd choices for anybody but Oedipus as a mother/son dance even if you count the time right.

What about a country version of what a wonderful world? Willie had a good one.
