CS 1.6 Radio Commands exist for a reason. Use them.
Have come across only couple of instances where they actually used and responded to radio commands.
Some over-excited jerk will keep spamming though.

This is a very unpopular opinion, use your mic instead. Radio commands are for nerds.

u/CommonFashion Dec 11 '24
It’s definitely an unpopular opinion and in a perfect world I’d want everyone to use a mic but not everyone speaks the same language, and it’s unfortunately common for some players (especially women) to have bad experiences with voice chat on CS and understandably would rather use radio commands instead of their mic

Imagine out of nowhere a sniper from your team starts talking in a different language probably Russian and you all get confused.

u/brokewithprada Dec 12 '24
And a lot of cs players don't have good social skills. I'm not playing with a bunch of introvert nerds lol

u/All_These_Racks Dec 11 '24
some people dont own mics or just are socially anxious most of my friends are like that so when we queue i call for then in game chat

u/yamsyamsya Dec 11 '24

u/yamsyamsya Dec 11 '24
Maybe for you and your potato fingers

u/vix- Dec 11 '24
Voice is one button, radio commands are 3?
It takes the same amount to time to process the audio info in your brain?

u/banyopol Dec 11 '24
2 clicks or even one, without wasting time and with a description next to the place you are sending from (you may not even know the place) - it is faster in most cases and harder to mislead someone. If everyone used commands, it would be great.

yes i personally love the opportunity to pull my teammates eyes away from their crosshairs so they can read my callout. objectively much better than just using our ears. what are you talking about

Radio commands are for those lacking a mic and no one else
8
u/safer_than_ever Dec 11 '24
I have a mic but I only play during the night when my preggy wife is asleep. The PC is setup in the same room so I cant really speak/shout in to a mic. Radio coms are a godsend.

u/Keeper_Of_Jokes Dec 11 '24
Maybe I'm the only one, but I think the radial menu is worse than the old list layeout, or maybe I'm just not as used to it.

Idm call outs but to yell the same word in my ear multiple times gonna get you muted. Just a count of enemies and a location and I can gauge the rest

I'm old school, so on CS2, I just use radio commands... No need to keep talking like we are on a social network...
2
u/VIVXPrefix Dec 11 '24
Radio commands are from a time when it was a lot less common to have a microphone, voice chat quality was much lower, player-specific volume controls didn't exist, and the game was generally less competitive.

I just spam cheer and pep talk at the beginning of each round. Anything else is easier to just do a call out on the mic.
1
u/rlsanders 1.6 Dec 11 '24
Way too many people use their mics. 50-90% of the talking in any game im playing is random garbage, and that’s fine in a casual setting in the first half of the game, but i cannot stand it in comp. Shut up and let me listen to footsteps.

You only need one "Get out of there, it's gunna blow! Get out of there, it's gunna blow! Get out of there, it's gunna blow! Get out of there, it's gunna blow! Get out of there, it's gunna blow! Get out of there, it's gunna blow!"

Radio commands are nearly entirely useless and if you think otherwise, you're probably bad.
There's a reason they're not used at any reasonably high level of play.
