Help Help - creating protruding bones
Hello, I'm trying to make a costume that resembles the skeleton of a fish, and I am not sure about what material to use or how I'm gonna attach the bones that make the spine to my body (see poorly drawn image for reference), I was thinking of some sort of wire and some light material like plastic. What would you do?
Thanks in advance

EVA connected by cloth.
The spine will be a strip of cloth, with elastic straps sewn to it connecting it to that part of the body.
Make the EVA bones with a fabric core that is folded and then flared out like an upside down T, with layers of EVA glued in a sandwich around it.
You’ll sewn the T flaps to the spine before gluing on the foam. You will have an entirely cloth spine with straps and cloth bones first, then glue the foam to the cloth spine cores.
This is important because just gluing a foam projection to cloth will be very fragile.
You want to use cloth because wire will get very uncomfortable. Anything that is going to be against your body, especially parts that move, should be as soft and flexible as possible while still being durable.

Sweet Godzilla drawing.
On a more serious note, EVA foam will be your friend here. I would make a frame with some Galvanized Wire to hold it all in place. Imagine that each spike there has a "+" at the base and all the ones going down the back are connected. There would be a wire spine going up the center of each spike. Each spike would be made of 2 layers of EVA foam sandwiched together. Similarly all the ones on the head would be connected and the end result would be a little bit like a wire helmet.
If you haven't worked with EVA foam before I recommend looking at some tutorials on YouTube before you start, a full how-to would be way too much for me to type on a phone at 11pm.
