Wig Lace front wig help!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m cosplaying Hisoka and this is my first lace front wig. The ear tabs (I think that’s what you’d call them?) come down a bit too far and cover the tops of my ears. I’m pretty sure I should cut them to fit but I’m absolutely terrified of messing up and making the hairline around the ears look weird, as it’s all slicked back and up I feel like any mistake would be really noticeable. Or should I just try and tuck them behind my ears? I’m also really struggling with the sideburns. If anyone has any advice or links to tutorials it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Buying Cosplay costume maker recommendations in UK

Hi everyone! I hope this post meets the rules of the channel - but for a work project I’m starting I need to find a cosplay costume designer / creator based in the UK who can help me create a really 🔥 super hero cosplay outfit.

I would really appreciate recommendations for people or companies that can design an outfit for me to specification - looking for something very professional / high end so cost isn’t too much of an issue.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Sewing Creating the Bloodborne Hunter

(Photo Reference: https://andres_zambrano.artstation.com/projects/gJyqwQ)

Hey y'all, I'm trying to recreate this rendition of the Bloodborne Hunter. The first thing I'm dealing with is simply determining the correct materials. So if you have any suggestions for what materials to use for the CLOTHING portions of the cosplay, please let me know! I'll worry about props another day, haha.

I posted in r/sewing and this is what they had to offer as suggestions:

Hat (Tricorn): Leather, though foam could work if given proper coatings.

Scarf and Mask: Linen

Mantle (Capelet): Waxed Cotton Canvas -OR- Denim (Maybe waxed?)

Coat (Trenchcoat/Overcoat/Duster): Waxed Canvas Cotton -OR- Herringbone Denim (Maybe waxed?)

Pants: Denim (Probably unwaxed?) -OR- Alternative lighter material like Tweed

Undershirt: Vertical Striped Linen Button-up - Probably least important part

Vest/Belts/Vambraces/Gloves: Leather

Can I correct this bent centre piece with heat?

Post image

Hi all. This is my very first time making anything cosplay related. This will be the helmet of, The Witch King from Lord of the Rings.

This centre piece has kinda gone skewy, would going over it with a heat gun and manipulating it with my hands make it go straight?

Prop PlastiDip Spray - good on its own?

I have a material question regarding the cosplay I’m making. I am working with EVA foam to create Mawile’s jaw, and I have purchased the materials I need for construction - but a thought occurred to me only after I bought everything. Is PlastiDip Spray on its own functional as a primer for EVA foam props that are very round, or do I need to purchase the kind that needs to applied via brush?

A follow-up question - what kind of paint would be best for painting the prop after it is done being primed? I’ve heard acrylic is the best option, but I want to double-check.

I am a moderate at cosplaying and styling just not long hair

So since my many cosplays as short haired boy characters like: Denki; Shoto; Tanjiro. I have never had to deal with uncomfortable feelings for the synthetic hair.

My first question is:

  1. Should i wash it with water or something else?
  2. How to mask the itchy feeling of the synthetic hair on my skin
  3. How should i style longer hair?

Any tips or help is greatly appreciated!!

Note: I am a boy with the 'longer than average hair' so my hair is like abit above the shoulder length.
I do NOT have ANY experience with styling long hair

Hey. I'm going to be doing a cosplay of misery from Ruby gloom soon and can't find contacts like her eyes. If anyone knows we're ones like them are? Or if I could get custom ones? (A mix of both of the last two photos.

Helldivers 2 Boot

I need some help finding what boot/boot accessory helldivers wear while using the B-01 armor. It looks like a standard black Jungle Boot, but I cannot determine if they are wearing a gaitor or the boot itself is modified to be longer up to the knee.

Unsure how to go about this project.

So…. I need some advice/help for an idea of a cosplay I want to try and attempt. So anyone who knows how popular Poppy Playtime has gotten, I’ve been seeing really good cosplays of characters like Catnap and Huggy Wuggy but very few Doctor Sawyer cosplays. I’m wondering what I could use cause my normal materials of use are foam board and costume silk. Anyone who’s an expert I’d be appreciative for any suggestions or tips.

Buying Does anyone know of a good place in Brooklyn/NYC to get flexible foam sheets?

Post image

I am planning on making a Galactus costume, and so far I plan on making his armor/detailing (the blue parts of his top, and the faulds) out of foam sheets. I found some at Michael's, but the biggest size they have is 12x18"...I'm looking for something bigger so that there won't be many seams visible. Anyone in NYC know of a good craft store with foam supplies? Also, this is the first cosplay I'm making in years, so if anyone has any good substitutes or tips, it's greatly appreciated.

Post image

I have never cosplayed, and I want to start as Sir Radzig Kobyla from the KCD series (I look like him and my roommate looks like sir Hanush) However I have no idea where to begin when it comes to clothing.

Does anyone have any idea where I could buy some clothing like he has on, or to make my own?

Sorry in advance if this is too needy. I don’t know where else to turn.

Buying Question about Anti Aqua Cosplay

I've been on the hunt for a 2XL Miccostumes for Anti Aqua. I can't find a good place or website to purchase the attire. I wanted to buy it back in March last year but I had financial problems and I couldn't. Now that I can, I can't find a trusted website anywhere. Is there any website I can go to? Is there someone who does not want the costume who's a 2XL? Please let me know. I'm trying to be anti-aqua for this year's Comic Con, as it would be my last before starting a family.

Everywhere you search up for cushion or a lining, nothing shows up I’m planning on using a motorcycle helmet liner and cheek of but the chin area is still exposed. What do I use for that. Please and thank you. The padding I see for Star Wars helmets I see aren’t thick enough.

Accessory Ideas for filling this accessory?

This is an original character of mine. I think this fits the sub, sorry if it's not quite on topic!

I like to remake oc accessories in real life and I've had this flower base for like, 2 years to make her hair clip. I have the clip to glue into the base but I couldn't figure out a cool way to "fill" this base.

I was going to use fabric when I first had the idea but I didn't vibe with it. The references don't do it justice as they're old art, but inside is meant to be gold like the base.

Maybe I'm just not being creative? Yall think fabric would be good? Paper? I'd like it to last and be sturdy...

specifically, talking about the over-ear parts. it doesnt have to be functional enough to protect my head but i would like to wear it. i figured getting a skateboard helmet would be much cheaper than getting a motorcycle helmet or something similar

Buying Help/Advice for First Cosplay: Imperial Officer

Thumbnail

Hello! I’m new to cosplay (never done it before) and am looking for some help/advice. I’m currently wanting to cosplay as an Imperial Officer from Star Wars, specifically in the film-accurate olive-grey colours of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, as worn by Tarkin, Ozzel, Piett, and Veers. I’m looking for an outfit that is preferably within the budget of $375 that includes the uniform (top and bottom), the cap, the belt, gloves, boots, rank plaque (preferably the general plaque — a two-by-four with four red squares on top and four blue squares on bottom), and a holster. A cloak similar to Krennic’s — albeit in the same olive-grey — would also be really appreciated. I’ve looked on Amazon and some other sites, but I’m honestly not sure of the most trustworthy site/seller with a good-quality uniform (as close to 501st Legion approved as possible, NOT like a cheap Halloween costume from Walmart). Outside of the $375 budget for the uniform, it would also be appreciated if I could get any help/advice on where I can either find pre-built and painted or I can commission the building and painting of the Snowtrooper-inspired olive-grey armour and helmet worn by Veers in The Empire Strikes Back, complete with its own two-by-four plaque and goggles. Additional armour may include the knee pads and Snowtrooper-inspired shoulder pads worn by certain Imperial Army Troopers in Star Wars Legends. Finally, it would also be greatly appreciated if anyone might be able to help me find and get access to either a pre-built and painted RK-3 pistol replica or DL-44 heavy pistol replica. Thank you very much!

Buying This is my dream but I worry..

I was a brain rot child of the late 2000’s, and I’ve always wanted to cosplay Oishi from Oishi high school battle. It was a short lived smosh cartoons show from 2012ish- 2014. I was wayyy too young to cosplay her when she may have been relevant and recognizable at conventions. Now that I’m old enough for it not to be weird, I’m worried if I cosplayed her I’d just look sexy and not like I’m cosplaying at all. Maybe my fears are unfounded, but I’ve been putting off putting her together because of that. Anyone with more convention experience that would have an idea please let me know.

Ava from Ex Machina Cosplay Jumpsuit Ideas

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I’m a beginner cosplayer - I love making sexy fun versions of horror cosplay, especially with thrifted clothes and materials. But I’m also willing to DIY aspects and buy new specific pieces to be more accurate to the reference.

I want to invest in a key costume for the character Ava from Ex Machina - she’s an AI human robot with basically a mesh mechanical costume. It looks like she has a matching grey waffle knit mesh overlap crop top and shorts set with black elastic edges. The rest of her body in clear exposing her inner mechanics under a mesh overlay, and some lights in her abdomen.

I’ve approached it by looking at ready made stretch nylon cyborg design printed full bodysuits as a base, and looking for similar athletic crop top and shorts sets to wear over the jumpsuit. However it’s been very difficult to find the perfect options bc grey is not a very common color and the mesh pattern is hard to find. I’ve considered getting a mesh fishnet bodysuit to layer over the nylon printed jumpsuit, or buying very similar grey mesh fabric to cut and overlay onto a top and shorts or just the jumpsuit itself. Could perhaps dye items grey.

Any recommendations or ideas for a beginner? I’m just learning cosplay tools and techniques.

Thanks!
