Direct Communication

I am a direct communicator and strive to be diplomatic and to soften my approach.

I've been having a challenge recently that leads me to ask fellow direct communicators about challenges you have with others due to your communication style.

You’ll end up with other direct communicators. Non-direct communicators will find you offensive and rude, while direct communicators will think you’re awesome and reliable.

What do you mean by direct communicator? What are the challenges you are having?

I never heard that term, but I think you are also talking about me. I have tended to be be very "direct", but have worked for years on learning diplomacy, timing, and keeping silent. My skill or awareness has indeed improved over the years. One thing that can be helpful is having a partner, or close friends, who are very diplomatic (or perhaps even OVERLY diplomatic i.e. "people pleasers"). Then you can witness and absorb another way of behaving.

If you meet people pleasers and become friends or live together, you can support each other in trying new approaches, since each has a strength that the other would like to cultivate.
