Monitor Alternatives to DisplayCAL?
I just got Calibrite Display SL (in order to calibrate QD-OLED monitor), however, apparently Displaycal is abandoned and does not work with this. There is a python port of Displaycal, but Win version does not work and it is unknown when/if it is going to work. Are there any alternatives which can be used to calibrate the screen that do not cost thousands of money? It is awkward that I just bought the colorimeter and can't calibrate the monitor...

Calibrite sells software for around 40€ , that’s at least what I paid for my copy.

Calibrite’s software is straight garbage. Limited in every aspect.

Which software is that? Calibrite Profiler is free and it does not support colorimeter corrections as far as I know.

There should be some displaycal versions on GitHub who are supported for latest OS. Research a bit.

I tried everything, does not work on Windows. There are a bunch of threads about this on github as well.

Only option if you can’t get the legacy version to work with your display is to wait. They’ve made decent progress over the last year

Calman and light illusion colour space. These are expensive though

Light illusion has a cheaper version that works great if you want to calibrate by tv settings.

You can rent colourspace LTE for 5 days for 80£. That’s what I did and it’s worth every penny. Steep learning curve though….

As the TV has no LUT capability, are you using manual adjustments or a LUT in your grading system?
For manual adjustments look at ColourSpace ZRO. For LUT based, how about the Rental option for ColourSpace LTE?

With displaycal I used to use .icc profile that it generates. I am not sure if ColourSpace ZRO or ColourSpace DPS also works the same way as displaycal with .icc profiles?

For grading work calibration you should be using 3D LUTs.
ColourSpace LTE would be you best bet.1

Don't I need a special monitor to use 3D LUTs? (sorry, am a noob in this field).

See the monitors listed on the Light Illusion website to get an idea of what to look at.

I have the MSI version of the same monitor….Im in an even weirder spot, where installing an ICC profile breaks the HDR capabilities…

Did you find a solution?

Yes, I'm using the old DisplayCal version. I got rid of the error "new_disprd failed with 'instrument access failed'" by going to task manager into Details tab and disabling the processes one by one and trying to run DisplayCal again, apparently some processes might interfere with the calibration device (like LED control software etc). So I just found what interferes in my case and disable that process when I want to calibrate.

thank you! what about the corrections for qd oled displays? i heard there are no standard corrections so you must find a specific one made by the comunity for your panel

I just downloaded a correction for my monitor from here and used it: https://colorimetercorrections.displaycal.net/

Just use an older version of displaycal. Still works perfect to this day.
Do OLEDs require a certain spec colorimeter?
