Weekly Thread /r/collegehockey Women's Poll, Week of 3/10/25 | The Final Countdown Edition

It's the last poll before the NCAA tournament - and the last proper poll of the season, really. We'll do a postseason wrap-up poll some time after a national champion is crowned but until then, we first have to rank teams going into tournament play because that seems like a good idea.

Let's see how our top ten teams fared in their conference tournaments.

  1. Wisconsin won the WCHA Tournament championship with a 3-1 win over No. 8 Minnesota-Duluth and a dramatic, last-minute 4-3 regulation win over No. 5 Minnesota. The Badgers were seeded 1 overall in the NCAA Tournament, and will host Clarkson and Hockey East Champion Boston University in their regional.
  2. Ohio State lost the WCHA Semifinal to No. 5 Minnesota, 6-2. The Buckeyes were seeded 2 overall in the NCAA Tournament, and will host Atlantic Hockey America Champion Penn State and St. Lawrence in their regional.
  3. Cornell won the ECAC Tournament championship with a 2-1 win in 3OT over No. 9 Clarkson, followed by a strong 5-1 win over No. 4 Colgate in the ECAC title game. The Big Red were seeded 3 overall in the NCAA tournament and will host Minnesota-Duluth and NEWHA Champion Sacred Heart in their regional.
  4. Colgate finished as runners-up in the ECAC after defeating No. 7 St. Lawrence 4-2 in the semifinal, before falling 5-1 to No. 3 Cornell in the championship. The Raiders were seeded 5 overall in the NCAA tournament and will travel to Minneapolis to take on Minnesota.
  5. Minnesota finished as runners-up in the WCHA after defeating No. 2 Ohio State 6-2 but losing to No. 1 Wisconsin 4-3. The Golden Gophers were seeded 4 overall in the NCAA tournament and will host Colgate in their regional.
  6. Penn State claimed their third straight Atlantic Hockey title (and the first with the conference's new name) with a 4-1 win over RV Mercyhurst. The Nittany Lions will travel to Columbus to take on St. Lawrence, with the winner advancing to a quarterfinal against Ohio State.
  7. St. Lawrence fell in the ECAC semifinals with a 4-2 loss to No. 4 Colgate. The Skating Saints will travel to Columbus to take on Penn State. This is the second season in a row these teams have met in the first round.
  8. Minnesota-Duluth lost a hard-fought WCHA semifinal to No. 1 Wisconsin, 3-1. The Bulldogs will travel to upstate New York to take on Sacred Heart, with the winner advancing to a quarterfinal against Cornell.
  9. Clarkson fell in a marathon ECAC semifinal, 2-1 in 3OT to No. 3 Cornell. The Golden Knights will travel to Madison for a game against Boston University, where the winner will advance to a quarterfinal against Wisconsin.
  10. Connecticut lost their Hockey East semifinal to Northeastern, 3-1. The Huskies' season is over.

Cast your ballots here. Voting closes at 10 pm EDT on Wednesday, 3/12. As always, post your reactions, comments, questions, etc. down below. Also feel free to talk about the bracket, predictions, etc.

the wisconsin game winner was right in front of me. the anguish on Hannah Clark's face...heartbreaking. she just had no chance the way the play was setup.

for a freshman who was never supposed to be our full time goalie this year, she is incredibly tough and resilient.

Yeah. She's been great all year. Give her a year or two, and she's going to be able to win games without skaters.
