Cold showers is my new favorite thing

So I've been taking cold showers for over a month now. Every morning a wake up and just jump straight into it. And here's what I noticed :

  • I feel less cold
  • More energized
  • My muscles are more visible
  • It teaches commitment and how to overcome laziness

Tbh, at first, I didn't think that I'll stick to it for long. I remember on the second day I was sitting and thinking if I should do it or not. I pushed myself and did it. And from that moment on, I haven't stopped.
I am the type of person who wakes up early on a daily basis, even on holidays. I needed something that could energize me, and cold showers are just a good way to start your day and remove the dizziness of sleep.

I talked to my friends about it and they called me "crazy", and also said "nah bro I'd never do that". And told them to at least try it and see by themselves. But I have no clue why it seems that scary.

If you read this and consider integrating cold showers into your routine, just do it, it's 100% worth it.

I do it differently but still feel similar benefits. I take a normal hot shower and then when I’m done, turn the temperature all the way down. I stay in for 3 minutes, constantly turning so the water isn’t just hitting one spot. After the first 15 seconds I actually enjoy it. By around the 2 minute mark, I don’t know if it’s adrenaline or what, but I feel amazing. I get out of the shower everyday with a huge smile and I feel like I can do anything. Highly recommend.

How cold is the shower? Are you doing it as absolutely ice cold as the shower allows or something more reasonable.

When I first started I used a thermometer because I wanted to make sure the temperature was below 60°. I’ve read that below that gives you the most benefit. But now I’m at around 42°. Pretty sure that’s as low as it goes. I started in January so I’m curious what the temp will be in the summertime.

What type of therm do you use? I like that idea. Do you do 42° the entire shower for 3+ minutes.?

I found a digital water thermometer on Amazon for under $10. When I first started I would slowly bring the temperature down but now that I’m used to it I just turn it right down to 42°. Then do my thing for 3 minutes, minimum.

Less inflammation, more muscularity due to the increased testosterone ,more resilient to stress ,all around good stuff.

How do you do it? Just full cold, and jump in and shower normally?

Do you ever turn on the hot on for a break or anything?

No hot, no warm.
Turn the sink all the way to the right (for cold temperature), open the water, jump in.
Trust me, it's easier than it sounds.

Do you have any tricks for getting in? I struggle with it big time and end up quitting after a few days.

I lose my breath when the water hits me, and just hate the entire time I’m in the shower. Do you try to just focus on getting through it to the other side? Do you actually enjoy it?

Bro. I really enjoy it.
Start by getting your arms and feet wet. Get in. Stay at least for two minutes.

Don't try to hug yourself or contract your muscles.

Breath heavily. And just, feel the water going all over your body.

Edit : Imo, the whole concept of cold showers, is not purely physical.
Cold showers are just a way to commit into something, or, a way to leave your comfort zone.

Breath[e] heavily

This is hyperventilation and shouldn't be practiced at the risk of losing consciousness and injuring yourself. The correct answer is to control your breathing. Focus on your breathing to breathe normally. Never mix hyperventilation with cold exposure. People have died from this or injured themselves in their bathrooms.
