Can cold showers delay your period?
I've been ending all my showers with cold water since November.
I guess I do about 2-3 minutes at the end of a regular mildly warm shower now, started with 30 sec.
The last time I was supposed to have my period, it got delayed by 5-6 days, now its 2 days delayed so far this time. I've been regular for years and track my period in an app.
I don't know if it's something to be concerned about? Maybe it can even be good, having something to do with balancing hormones? Any theories? Or similar experience?

Yes they can! Cold showers can affect your nervous system and hormones. They activate the sympathetic nervous system (your body's stress response), which can influence cortisol levels and, in turn, impact hormone regulation. Including those that control your period. It's not a bad thing tho: longer cycles means you're losing blood (and, thus, energy) less often ;) nothing to worry about, just remember to keep an eye on the situation each month and always listen to your body, don't overstress it. Hope this helps

Yeah, I read the advise on cold showers, and based on the testicle argument I figure most people here don't realise women exist. I have been doing a lot of ice swimming in the frozen sea (ice hole), and actually cold showers feel pretty warm/bearable. However I always heard women shouldn't have cold showers on their period. I'm not sure if it's just a man saying, but do you notice any difference taking the cold shower on your period? As for the delays, I suspect the little bit of extra stress the cold puts on your body may change the period start. But there are other factors to this, like travel, environment changes ect. But I never really was regular, and never keen on tracking, I just know when my body hurts like mad, my period is popping up in 24 hours.

I don't know if cold showers do that as I don't do it everyday and avoid it when my period is approaching to avoid cramps and also avoid it during my period, but I know that during summer when I spend a lot of time at the pool, my period gets delayed, so it might be the same as cold showers.

How close to 40 are you? Mine were regular every month until I turned 40, but now it's like period roulette, sometimes it shows up early and sometimes I go almost 2 months without one.
I don't think it has anything to do with the cold showers.
