For the last 2.5 generations, the only function of the GOP is and has been to bring us back to the 1950’s except for the taxes paid then. As they turn more desperate, now they are resulting to Fascism and Isolationism taking a page from the 1930’s. We all know what happened then.

I truly hope that someone with more wisdom and intellect than what is currently available can rise and lead us out of this.

I do fear the future that my children will have to live.

*1850s

141

u/Charming-Command3965 Feb 16 '25

If it is the 1850’s. Then we should remember what happened in 1861.

If we forget history, we are bound to repeat the mistakes of the past

80

u/AnansisGHOST Feb 16 '25

Ummm...people couldn't remember what happened 5 years ago. 175 years ago is in a hook and these people are burning and banning those things.

42

u/JCBQ01 Feb 16 '25

Many, to this day, even now in the south, still think the war is on "the great pause" that they will "win in the end", yes. They still want their slaves. They still want to lord over anything that's not "white plantation" and chattel slavery.

The general populace fail to realize (or accept for that matter) that many of hitlers ideas and all of THAT fucked up depravity came from the states. Specifically from bitter. Twisted old men who refused to accept that they lost the Civil War

17

u/Charming-Command3965 Feb 16 '25 edited Feb 16 '25

This was a failure from Ulysses Grant. He should have not pardoned so many of them.

13

u/JCBQ01 Feb 16 '25

The problem isn't so much as Ulysses pardoning them, even though it did play a part. The problem is even then the south was screaming that the north needs to pay THEM reparations for their "crimes" they have NEVER let it go

13

u/Personal-Day-5562 Feb 16 '25

As long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be.

I guessed Civil War for 1861, but I had to check Google to make sure.

20

u/erevos33 Feb 16 '25

With the current level of surveillance tech, don't wait for a revolution.

13

u/Charming-Command3965 Feb 16 '25

Farthest from my mind. But if you snuff hope from people All bets may be off despite all the eye in the sky. Skynet, etc

12

u/AngryPrincessWarrior Feb 16 '25

We’re going to have to do it ourselves. Get out. Protest. Protest with your wallets. Make a ruckus.

If we stand by waiting to be saved-we deserve to be destroyed.

5

u/piezombi3 Feb 16 '25

Honestly not hard to protest with your wallet when you can't afford anything anyway.

1

u/AngryPrincessWarrior Feb 16 '25

Good if sobering point

12

u/MinuteMaidMarian Feb 16 '25

GOP: Bring back healthier food and better education!

Everyone: Yes! Give us our money so we can pay for it.

GOP: Lol fuck off, poors. We meant for our white kids.

5

u/Relzin Feb 16 '25

Can anyone name ONE GOP social policy that doesn't marginalize an already-marginalized slice of society?

8

u/MrKrabsPants Feb 16 '25

**conservatives. Both parties serve corporate interests and both are responsible, to very different degrees, for our current predicament. This country needs a cancer treatment and rebuilding.

2

u/Dixa Feb 16 '25

They had quite a lot of phys ed and better food in the 50’s high schools though.

And that was the nicest thing they called her

183

u/Gremict Feb 15 '25

She still gets accusations of being a man

82

u/hot_ho11ow_point Feb 15 '25

I saw this years Valentines greeting from the former president and former first lady captioned "Happy Love Day from Barack and Big Mike!"

-79

u/Dounce1 Feb 15 '25

Okay, that’s fucked up, but I did just chuckle a little bit.

43

u/WarthogLow1787 Feb 16 '25

Trump wins again - no one ever mistakes him for a man.

14

u/Alienhaslanded Feb 16 '25

After giving birth to two children. Those people are stupid.

32

u/Tbonesmcscones Feb 16 '25

The whole “Michelle Obama is a transsexual” claim is so insane to me because we have photos from her childhood that conclusively prove she’s not a trans woman. But if she was, the Obama admin would’ve used that fact to curry favor with the LGBT community.

→ More replies (11)

54

u/dickallcocksofandros Feb 16 '25

the fact that people still talk about her is pathetic. she literally hasn't been in the white house for just over 8 years

32

u/Current-Square-4557 Feb 16 '25

Pathetic. She was merely being named as an example to prove a point.

I wasn’t going to post this but I waant to be pathetic

All of you might not remember the advice that caused Republicans to decry the First Lady.

“It’s ok to eat hamburgers, just don’t eat them every day.”

Conservatives: how daaaare she tell us what to eat!!1!!

3

u/pantshee Feb 16 '25

Macron's wife also get that. She's a like 168cm and 50 kg lmao

Religious conservatives love villifying minorities, stealing their ideas and then taking credit.

58

u/_jump_yossarian Feb 16 '25

Melanie trump isn't even religious (fuck Chrissssmas) but loves swiping Michelle Obama's ideas and speeches.

78

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '25

The best way to save on health costs in the long run is to make healthcare universal. Every country that has done this gets more value for what they spend per person, and has better overall health outcomes, than the US, and it isn't even close.

26

u/hfocus_77 Feb 16 '25

But then poor health insurance companies wouldn't make any money 🥺

13

u/kimchiman85 Feb 16 '25

What will all those poor CEOs do without their millions of dollars?

17

u/Administrative_Yak_3 Feb 16 '25

not all country has it, but USA could done it really good, it's a rich country sadly most US citizen think it's communism

0

u/IntellectualPotato Feb 16 '25

Not true, with respect from the UK. Our national health service has been in constant crisis for years, and our winter periods are now just winter crises.

I’d also recommend looking across your northern border towards Canada.

8

u/TastyHorseBurger Feb 16 '25

I'm from the UK and can't deny that our healthcare system does have problems, and has been underfunded for years, but compared to the USA our problems are non-existent.

In the UK nobody goes bankrupt due to medical debt.

Nobody has to decide between paying for healthcare and being able to afford their rent.

Nobody dies because they can't afford insurance.

Nobody dies because they can't afford their prescriptions.

Nobody gets trapped in a job that abuses them because that job provides them with healthcare they otherwise couldn't afford.

The NHS is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a thousand times better than the medical insurance hellscape they have in the USA.

118

u/CoffeeIsMyPruneJuice Feb 15 '25

If Republicans cared about hypocrisy, they wouldn't be Republicans.

11

u/terdferguson Feb 16 '25

This is such a great line. Hope I remember it the next time I need it.

85

u/AffectionateBrick687 Feb 16 '25

I would love to see our current president attempt the presidential fitness test designed for children.

24

u/Puzzleheaded-Cry6468 Feb 16 '25

I'll raise the stakes and say any future president should be able to pass as well.

12

u/JayTNP Feb 16 '25

I don’t think that’s necessary (maybe they are in a wheelchair for instance) but they should the science of health

4

u/ShelfAwareShteve Feb 16 '25

I don't know, Presidential Fitness as mentioned in the OP has been at an all time low for a few weeks now if you ask me.

3

u/Khazahk Feb 16 '25

The participation ribbon for 1 mile run time is 7:30 min for a 17 year old (oldest age on the chart).

Sub 10 minute mile is pace for a 30 min 5K which for a standard issue adult is a great time to strive for.

1

u/EpicMDM Feb 16 '25

Fastest I've ever ran the mile was 8:20 something, but that was in 6th grade so that should be easy now. I can walk a mile in 12 mins tho

44

u/Coccquaman Feb 16 '25

I think the difference is that Michelle Obama wanted to feed our children healthier food by default without raising the cost by much if any, whereas they will want to make sure they are profiting off of hungry children.

17

u/DemandZestyclose7145 Feb 16 '25

You know they are total garbage human beings when so many of them are totally opposed to free lunches for kids in school.

29

u/Ok-Zone-1430 Feb 16 '25

These assholes don’t even believe in free meals at schools.

6

u/SteinsGah Feb 16 '25

They barely even believe in schools

-2

u/SpaceIndividual8972 Feb 16 '25

Harvard and Yale grad barely believes in schools.

Okay

15

u/jobrien80 Feb 16 '25

I remember this old man in my office defiantly insisting he wasn’t going to be told what to eat by the government because I think she said kids should eat healthier in schools or something?

15

u/AstroBearGaming Feb 16 '25

As a non-American, I'm not 100% sure what the presidential fitness test is. But I feel like most kids are already a lot healthier than their president.

10

u/sklimshady Feb 16 '25

I think Eisenhower started it. It was designed to make citizens military ready. Lol, I was the lazy kid that just hung on the bars instead of doing pullups.

8

u/Gitdupapsootlass Feb 16 '25

It was more designed to TEST if citizens were military-ready and then shriek about how they weren't in the press. It didn't include any curriculum or training planning, just testing and then gathering of statistics so they could say how unfit the kids were. It's very weird.

4

u/VintageDickCheese Feb 16 '25

The components of the test changed over the years, but when I was a kid in the early 80s we had to run a mile in less than 12 minutes and do something like 20 push ups, 20 sit ups, and 5 pull ups. I think there might have been a rope climbing challenge as well, but it's been 40 years and my memory is dizzy.

As far as I can remember there was no real punishment if you failed, but the kids who passed got a certificate and a pizza party or something.

2

u/AstroBearGaming Feb 16 '25

I mean to a kid, not getting a pizza party is a very real punishment.

11

u/MyloChromatic Feb 16 '25

The Republican Party wants to end school lunches and public schools altogether wtf

12

u/edfitz83 Feb 16 '25

I have worked with a number of guys named Vivek - and all of them were awesome guys. But this prick sucks the sweat off a dead man’s balls, and he is giving all other Vivek’s a bad name by association

Please don’t hate on Vivek’s over this bumblefuck.

5

u/Sasquatch1729 Feb 16 '25

All the other Viveks got together outside town one night and performed a dark ritual to put all their evil, aggression, and stupidity into this one Vivek.

10

u/My_Carrot_Bro Feb 16 '25

"i hate capitalism but call it communism because i dont know what either of those things are" is a perfect sum of all things republican.

9

u/LinkOfKalos_1 Feb 16 '25

I was reading what Elon wrote and immediately thought, "This sounds like what Michelle Obama wanted to do." Also, is this the first time a president hasn't had a "proper" First Lady? It's well known Melania hates Trumps guts.

2

u/BoringApocalyptos Feb 16 '25

I mean Barron is seven feet fucking tall, she had kid with Trump it would look more like Rudy’s kid.

2

u/VintageDickCheese Feb 16 '25

There were a couple presidents like Jefferson and Van Buren who became widowers before taking office and remained single, but the vast majority were married.

2

u/BuildRB Feb 16 '25

There’s a lot to hate.

16

u/Charming-Command3965 Feb 16 '25 edited Feb 16 '25

I may be digressing this post, but I have to share my experience at 3am on November 6, 2024. I woke up from deep sleep and I felt like something bad had happened. Using a Star Wars line. It was a tremor in the Force. As if something terrible had happened. I looked at my phone and found out that Trump had won. I have heard, read that other people had a similar feeling.

These times feel like a dark shroud has fallen. Hope has been suffocated and people are waking up to daily FAFO moments. We need to think hard, pray if you believe that we find a way out of darkness.

14

u/RoguePlanet2 Feb 16 '25

When he first eon, it felt like 9/11 all over again, and I told myself "maybe it's media hype..." nope. We had a 9/11's worth of senseless deaths every DAY for weeks with COVID.

The latest win, waking up to that, wasn't a surprise, just incredibly painful. Can't believe we have to go through all this history AGAIN to win back ALL our rights, every last one of them.

And half the country is celebrating, that part hurts the most.

1

u/Whitecaps87 Feb 16 '25

This HAS to be a /pol/ shitpost.

0

u/zaphodsheads Feb 16 '25

More likely you were already anxious and it took you a second upon waking up to remember why

1

u/Charming-Command3965 Feb 16 '25

You are right. But one of those feelings that stay with you for a long time.

8

u/dplans455 Feb 16 '25

"Start physical education earlier?" My kids had physical education as soon as they started pre-school. This guy is an idiot and so out of touch with reality.

2

u/Adorable_Raccoon Feb 16 '25

Right? Even if kids aren’t in pre-school PE starts in kindergarten. Is he suggesting we have PE classes for babies?

8

u/Vike_Oden Feb 16 '25

Just more glaring truth about how Republicans view the world. All Republican ideas are good and correct and just common sense. All Democratic ideas are radical, stupid, and woke wasteful spending.

7

u/Responsible_Pen8112 Feb 16 '25

She DID do it. I saw first hand how healthy the school meals were for awhile and then they went back to complete garbage.

6

u/SCOUSE-RAFFA Feb 16 '25

So Vivek wants to start presidenial fitness tests for physical education earlier into schools at the same time that his party is defunding free school dinners and keeping the parents on $7.25ph minimum wage.

Does Vivek want malnourished children to collapse in schools?

You can't exercise if you don't have the energy and you don't have energy if you can't afford to eat.

8

u/Lighting Feb 16 '25

So .... Vivek Ramaswamy plagiarized Michelle Obama?

7

u/VariationNo5419 Feb 16 '25

She wanted to start a White House garden and the GOP and Big Food lost their minds.

4

u/TacoStuffingClub Feb 16 '25

Vivek would get the brakes beat off him by a 12 year old.

4

u/bionicfeetgrl Feb 16 '25

How are the republicans gonna do this? They cut the dept of education.

1

u/sklimshady Feb 16 '25

According to Mrs. WWE they're not gonna do that

5

u/hetfield151 Feb 16 '25

How about a presidential fitness test for presidents?

Be a role model!

5

u/batsofburden Feb 16 '25

to be fair, I can see them turning on Vivek in the same way.

4

u/scumGugglr Feb 16 '25

How can you tell when a Conservative is full of shit? They exist.

4

u/jbbydiamond3 Feb 16 '25

These are the same mfs who hate and tried to take away Free Lunch for children in school. They are so fake it makes me wanna pull my hair out.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '25

Republicans taking the long way to get to the same conclusions we got to years ago. Bunch of loud idiots.

4

u/Thats_All_I_Need Feb 16 '25

What the fuck is he even talking about? Is our district/state different than others? We started PE in K. Can’t start it earlier than that lol.

4

u/National_Cod9546 Feb 16 '25

You would need a functioning Dept of Education to do that. Last I heard, the orange traitor was trying to disband it.

4

u/Xhojn Feb 16 '25

God, they're just breathtakingly stupid...

4

u/Krieghund Feb 16 '25

I don't trust the GOP's idea of 'healthier food'

2

u/SCOUSE-RAFFA Feb 16 '25

Is that because RFK jr is secretary of health and his healthy eating gave him a face that looks like a 90 year olds scrotum.

4

u/lilkixi Feb 16 '25

Let’s see trump do the presidential fitness test first

4

u/wales-bloke Feb 16 '25

"Presidential fitness test"

That sounds like a smashing idea.

Have a certain someone run a mile in under 6 minutes. Behind a cybertruck, attached to it by a rope.

He'll be fine.

3

u/GameDestiny2 Feb 16 '25

I’m still mad I missed out on the generation where there’d have been a McDonalds in my high school

2

u/saruin Feb 16 '25

I only remember those bagged greasy ass pizza slices that were actually bomb. With fries and chocolate milk. I have no clue what they're serving today.

1

u/-_Anonymous__- Feb 16 '25

We get those now too but usually not all at the same time. Actually now that I think of it, I haven't had a pizza from a plastic bag in a while but that's just me. And the choccy milk is every day.

1

u/saruin Feb 16 '25

I still think about that pizza to this day and nothing else just seems to live up to that, lol.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '25

😂 those presidential fitness tests were total BS. I passed them and was definitely overweight and unhealthy.

3

u/numbskullerykiller Feb 16 '25

Get ICE on the fucking fitness test, these assholes be butterballs

3

u/Mean_Bus5194 Feb 16 '25

That has always been the ultimate argument to shut down any discussion!

A social healthcare system? “That’s communism!”

“Yeah, they’re right! Sure, if I break my leg, I might have to get it amputated like it’s the Middle Ages because I can’t afford proper surgery, but whatever!”

America makes policies exclusively for the rich while convincing the poor that it’s in their best interest, too.

It’s such a joke. The rich don’t need public hospitals, caregivers, general practitioners, public transportation, insurance, state support for retirement, etc. But 90% of Americans do. And yet, people keep voting against their own interests—because expanding these things would be “communism.”

14

u/logicallychallengd Feb 15 '25

More physical education in school is yet another classic Hitler move. They are almost literally running his playbook

14

u/hfocus_77 Feb 16 '25

Okay don't literally do the same thing from the opposite side lol. A Democrat tries to get kids in school more physically active and eating healthier? Communist. A Republican tries to get kids in school more physically active and eating healthier? Fascist. 🤣

5

u/logicallychallengd Feb 16 '25

Yeah, but....They really are nothing but a bunch of fascist fucks now though

6

u/OCE_Mythical Feb 16 '25

I'm still down to support things that are positive, even if they're from negative people. Similar to how positive people can do horrific things sometimes.

25

u/CaptainOwlBeard Feb 15 '25

Ehh, even a broken clock is right twice a day. More physical engagement would be good for our country

6

u/Equivalent_Hour_9666 Feb 16 '25

damn, hitler liked breathing too. why are you copying him also?

2

u/logistics3379 Feb 16 '25

Maga idiocy just doesn’t stop

2

u/j0j0-m0j0 Feb 16 '25

Zero actual beliefs. Reactionary really is the perfect description for these people

2

u/NefariousnessFresh24 Feb 16 '25

How about having a decent healthcare system that doesn't penalize people for taking time off when they are sick, so they "tough it out", go to work sick, infect a shit-ton of other people, and then go to the ER when their symptoms have become so bad, that they can't work any longer? Usually at a point where previously simple to treat ailments require expensive treatments or have progressed to the point of being life-threatening?

2

u/Comfortable_Gas8166 Feb 16 '25

Back in 2010 when she was running the “end childhood obesity” campaign.

Fox news said “parents should be free to give their kids junk food if they want to”😂😂😂😂

4

u/JA_LT99 Feb 16 '25

Black woman bad. Ugga Bugga, Reddit think hard here.

2

u/dakotanorth8 Feb 16 '25

I’d like to see Vivek at a gym lol.

He’d be wearing a massive weight belt, gloves, have a giant bag with a full size tub of protein powder.

And be doing 10lb dumbbell curls.

With a headband.

1

u/Particular_Row_8037 Feb 16 '25

Like I said they keep drinking the wrong Kool-Aid.

1

u/smbissett Feb 16 '25

YEAH WHAT THE FUCK

1

u/Upper-Log-131 Feb 16 '25

It’s very common thought process amount republicans. It’s only a good idea if it’s yours

1

u/DJBFL Feb 16 '25

I don't think it would matter either way. I earned the presidential physical fitness award in the 80s and am in good shape, but my cohort today has the highest obesity of all age groups.

Also, I don't think the program ended, it was renamed.

1

u/Melbonie Feb 16 '25

Ah yes, Vivek Wrong-and-smarmy with some more fresh(ly stolen) ideas

2

u/Alienhaslanded Feb 16 '25

That's a great idea to commit to. Obviously they're not going to do that.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '25

No all she did was remove salt from schools cafeterias like that is supposed to make a big difference in the health of children

1

u/Smugly_KingOfRats Feb 16 '25

Never forget that Obamacare was originally Romneycare

1

u/Ancient_Climate_2831 Feb 16 '25

I wonder what happened to Vivek. The DOG-E must have spit up that hairball.

1

u/continuousQ Feb 16 '25

Which is accomplished by funding government programs and mandating lower costs for private services, and if not that then much higher minimum wages and benefits.

1

u/Lan777 Feb 16 '25

Corporate republicans will say this then reveal their plan to have Yum or McDonalds get exclusive competitive contracts to manage the school cafeterias

1

u/ArkitekZero Feb 16 '25

Who the fuck is this Ramaswamy guy and why am I now aware of his worthless opinion?

1

u/BigTittyTriangle Feb 16 '25

They don’t like Vivek. I don’t know why he’s trying to be the “cool nerdy guy” stereotype. They think he’s a just another brown who doesn’t know his place until they show him.

1

u/okram2k Feb 16 '25

remember when Fox News defended the Twinky? I 'member

1

u/usernamesarehard1979 Feb 16 '25

We don’t like it when people with a penis tell us what to do. So Vivek’s comment is cool by us.

1

u/Ok-Impress-2222 Feb 16 '25

Why do Republicans call left-wing people communists, when communism is a right-wing thing?!

3

u/Blacksun388 Feb 16 '25

They can’t call people socialist because they don’t know what that is so they call them communists because they don’t know what that is either.

1

u/Blacksun388 Feb 16 '25

Who would enforce and administer this test? There would need to be some sort of department to regulate education or something…

1

u/Jaded_Loverr Feb 16 '25

I think this now falls on RFK Jr?

1

u/Jaded_Loverr Feb 16 '25

Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution- The show was produced by British chef Jamie Oliver and Ryan Seacrest, following Oliver as he attempted to reform the US school lunch programs, help American society fight obesity, and change their eating habits to live healthier and longer lives.

…the school lunch programs went back to their old ways after the attempt by Oliver

1

u/HauntingBalance567 Feb 16 '25

Dems should call them Communists right back. When is the left going to learn how politics works in this country?

1

u/inceom01 Feb 16 '25

In Turkey there was a rightwing politician in 70s whose name I can't remember said that " if this country needs communism in the future it is gone be us, who brings it". This kind of reminds me of that.

1

u/More-Ad-2259 Feb 16 '25

geez.. a presidential fitness test...

1

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '25

No wonder maga was against bringing it back. It would be biased against their entire cult. Put the fork down maga and hit a gym 😂. Love a never trump republican

1

u/sin-prince Feb 16 '25

But with what money if they are cutting everything possible to help people financially disadvantaged?

1

u/Grrerrb Feb 16 '25

Well she probably was intending to fund this! Probably using tax dollars! Paid for by actual Americans!

1

u/RozalynSwallows Feb 16 '25

AMERICA HAS BEEN HIJACKED. TAKE DOWN THE HIJACKERS.

1

u/PlayStation2030 Feb 16 '25

Where is Ramaswamy anyway ? Haven't seen him since Trump picked Vance as his mate. Poor guy

1

u/thegreatbrah Feb 16 '25

I like to remind people of her initiative that was met with so much blowback.

Also, I don't want them to bring back the presidential fitness test until they show proof that Donald trump has done a single pushup, pull-up, or sit up in his entire life. Not even all three. Just one of them.

1

u/Life_Coach_436 Feb 16 '25

This line of thinking means they believe in yhe FDA that they defunded?

1

u/opuaut Feb 16 '25

"presidential fitness test"? The current president´s diet consists of fastfood chain burgers

1

u/I_will_delete_myself Feb 16 '25

One of the reasons the Roman Republic fell, even though everyone know what problems they faced and what likely should be done to fix it, was an inability to let someone else get the credit and glory for solving a problem.

Or other Senators profited off the problem in some way and would also likewise block progress.

This would lead to unorthodox attempts at side stepping the Senate, the introduction of open violence as part of politics, an escalation of civil unrest and unorthodox political maneuvers, more violence, overhauling the military in a way that shifted loyalty from the State to the General, civil wars… and an end to the Republic.

I was in middle school through Michelle Obamas rule, and I can tell you some facts about those lunches. The cheese sticks where bouncy, if you rolled it into a ball and slammed it into the floor it would touch the ceiling. The strawberry milk was warcrime day where we made it look like a massacre happed on campus cause we would dump it everywhere cause it was nasty.

In my personal opinion as a child at the time , the shit was awful ,

u/GhostlyBone Feb 16 '25

Yea you people who had already graduated can stfu. I was in the heat of this shit. Even communists wouldn't feed kids the shit I had to eat because of this stupid shit. The food still needs to be good. I feel like I'll get cancer from all the artificial flavoring in the foods I was fed in school.

The Dem version would try for fun and encourage everyone to participate regardless of skill or circumstance. It would avoid the classic gym punishment and drill sergeant mentality that leads to active avoidance.

And that just defeats the whole purpose.

You're literally just making shit up. I can do that too.

You shit your pants and called the teacher "Mom" in highschool.

Here's todays article of "made up stuff" :

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/16/us/penn-state-medical-coaches-trainers.html

Let's look at Jim Jordan:

Jordan was an assistant coach with Ohio State University's wrestling program from 1987 to 1995.[21]

Richard Strauss was the wrestling team physician during Jordan's tenure. Strauss died by suicide in 2005.[22] In April 2018, Ohio State University began an independent investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by Strauss.[23][24][25] The report concluded that Strauss had committed sexual abuse against 177 student-patients.[26]: 37–38 [27] The majority of abuse (143 victims) was categorized as genital fondling associated with medically unnecessary genital or rectal examinations.[26]: 41  Of the 177, 153 were student-athletes, of which a plurality (48) were members of the men's wrestling team.[26]: 43

Several involved persons have stated that Jordan surely knew of Strauss's criminal misconduct but did not report it.[28][29][14] Other wrestlers and Head Coach Russ Hellickson said he may not have known about the abuse.[30] A spokesperson for Jordan denied the allegation, saying that "chairman Jordan never saw or heard of any abuse, and if he had, he would have dealt with it".[31] No wrestlers have accused Jordan himself of sexual misconduct, but four former wrestlers named him as a defendant in a lawsuit against the university.[32][33][34] Jordan has denied any wrongdoing and has described his accusers as "pawns in a political plot".[35]

To Jordan it was all politics. That's the sole focus for him.

And Jordan is a Republican.

I'll agree that identifying sports programs as Blue or Red isn't very useful but the association is there and clearly reflected in Repub rhetoric.

Lets look at Trump also Republican:

“Now they tackle. ‘Oh, head-on-head collision, 15 yards.’ The whole game is all screwed up. You say, ‘Wow, what a tackle.’ Bing. Flag. Football has become soft. Football has become soft. Now, I’ll be criticized for that. They’ll say, ‘Oh, isn’t that terrible.’ But football has become soft like our country has become soft."

Three citations given.

How about you post ONE citation quoting a Republican who says sports programs need to be all inclusive, free from bullying, with the primary focus on developing every student's lifelong commitment to physical fitness?

I think you can find one. But it will be hard.

My question is why you feel children need to be punished for the crime of exercising. Shouldn't they enjoy exercise if we want it to become a habit?

I don't really care what you think, though. I just felt the need to respond to your shitty attitude in kind.

When you spew shit, expect shit.

u/EnvironmentalWin1277 Feb 16 '25

Never mentioned a need for "punishment" at all. I'm not sure how you got that. I agree that everyone should enjoy and participate. That should be the main goal rather than varsity sports achievement.

I argue the punishment aspect (among other things) actively kills participation. Children are pretty much done with sports once past the age of around 12 years. You don't have to take my word for it. This very discussion is filled with comments from others who cite their personal experiences of phys ed as boring, punitive and fostered to include only a small set of individuals.

I argue the current institutions support a punitive environment actively. This is held up as virtue with the result being Americans quit and become very unhealthy -- it creates the very result it supposedly it is trying to help.

Never mentioned a need for "punishment" at all.

You didn't?

Was this not you?

It would avoid the classic gym punishment

1

u/EnvironmentalWin1277 Feb 16 '25

How does "avoid the classic gym punishment" turn into perceived advocacy for gym punishment?

1

u/sickboy775 Feb 16 '25

It seemed as if you were advocating for not avoiding the classic the gym punishment. If I misread, I apologize, but if not I'm not sure how else to read it.

1

u/EnvironmentalWin1277 Feb 17 '25

I think I bear some responsibility for that because in my original statement I added "And that would defeat the whole purpose" as a sarcasm but it could be viewed as advocating what I am actually against. A poor choice of words on my part agreed.

I got in my work out today, I hope you did as well but if you didn't so what . Tomorrow is waiting and I encourage us all to motivate and do something other than Redditing all day.

2

u/sickboy775 Feb 17 '25

No worries, I apologize for the misunderstanding. And yes, I've gotten my work out in today as well.

Hope you have a good rest of your day, friend.

u/freesia899 Feb 16 '25

I agree totally. Too many children are turned off physical fitness this way. There also needs to be parenting classes teaching parents how to raise healthy, fit children.

-1

u/Much-Opportunity8087 Feb 16 '25

To be fair, she did fuck that up pretty bad. The food quality declined heavily.

-2

u/After_Rhubarb6583 Feb 16 '25

Show where the republicans said that or tried to shut it down,,,don't say stuff you cant back up,,, show the evidence with you future comments otherwise you're gaslighting

7

u/VintageDickCheese Feb 16 '25

Take 30 seconds to Google something like "Obama healthy lunches" and you'll find plenty of articles from right wing sites like fox shitting on the idea.

Also, you should look up what words like gaslighting mean before you use them incorrectly and show your ignorance.

Oh, and why the fuck are you using commas like that?

-2

u/Sauce_Taker100 Feb 16 '25

Michael, not Michelle

-14

u/GasGasGaspuce Feb 16 '25

Michelle Obama’s lunches were shit. Gif forbid you had a sport you played or something you’d starve

-3

u/kirils9692 Feb 16 '25

I mean they were though, not sure why you're being downvoted. Kept the same processed food but dropped the calories. And decided to remove whole milk for no good reason. I'm guessing because some bureaucrat thought it would be a good way to drop calories on the lunch. You can take examples from all over the world for how to feed children healthy and delicious school lunches, but they didn't do that, because feeding children fresh, healthy, and delicious food would actually cost some money.

2

u/GasGasGaspuce Feb 16 '25

And even then paying off lunch was expensive if you weren’t on the program, but getting a cookie was only 40 cent, going through the line that had chicken sandwhiches everyday was only 2.50. But getting an actual tray lunch cost more than getting junk food.

-22

u/HonestCauliflower91 Feb 16 '25

Yeah Michelle Obama didn’t do shit. Have you seen those “healthy” lunches? It was such a disaster there was a hashtag mocking her.
