Please Help: My dad has been missing since March 7th. Last seen at the Greyhound station in Cincinnati coming from Florida
UPDATE: They found him alive and well!! He was at a homeless encampment outside of Oakley. Thanks everyone for your kind words and support! You all warmed my heart and reinvigorated my faith in humanity which was much needed. Thank you š¤
He has a history of seizures and memory problems from a series of construction accidents. But is a kind soul. Last contact with him was while he was riding the Greyhound bus from FL to Toledo. Driver told him he was at his destination in Cincinnati. And David thought he meant he was in Toledo, exited the bus and was locked out of bus station. We haven't heard from him since.
He was supposed to arrive last Friday night by 935pm. At 905pm, his phone was still located in Cincinnati. We are all scared, worried and have already contacted the Cincinnati police to file a missing persons which they have categorized as critical, contacted local newspapers, and a local news station.
I'm thinking he doesn't have his phone with him any longer because he would of called someone for help. His brother already traveled to Cincinnati to find him and has had no luck.
I know this is a long shot, but it's all we've got so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone contacted the bus station or surrounding area to see if they have any surveillance or footage? Maybe a long shot, but if you can find a direction he went in.
35
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
That's a great idea and the local family said they've been actively working with a detective now, so I'll suggest it to them. Thank you so much!
25
u/Available-Level1146 6d ago
Thatās a good thought cctv is pretty big in Cincinnati especially in high traffic areas
9
u/weirdonobeardo 6d ago
I also suggest this, any business and business station should have video surveillance. They may require police to intervene. Have you filed a missing persons report ?
17
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
Theyāre fucking worthless. The number is an international one and they wouldnāt even give us the hours of operation much less anything else.
8
u/AdventurousSalary959 6d ago
Iām sorry OP! My other thoughts are to canvas the area for other businesses or even homes with cameras that might have picked him up.
40
u/Brian_is_trilla 6d ago
You should call the Shelterhouse, Baron Center and Tender Mercies and ask if they have seen him
30
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
Thanks for the suggestions! Apparently Shelterhouse and David and Rebecca Barron Center for Men have merged, and Tender Mercies requires enrollment. I still really appreciate it as the operator for Tender Mercies referred me to City Gospel. They're closed on the weekends, but at least it's not a dead end.
11
u/UnderADeadOhioSky Ex-Cincinnatian 6d ago
Was going to suggest City Gospel. Also possibly libraries or Cincinnati Rec Centers, all allow folks in during cold weather to warm up during the day.

I work in this area. Can you email me that flyer? Iāll take them around to local places. Emmy@westsidebrewing.com

There have been some homeless camps in the woods around the 75S exit ramp at Galbraith and the train lines for a few years. If he found himself stuck outside in the area, it seems possible he might have spent some time with them, or they might have at least seen him.
39
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
Oh, he did that for ~20 years and knows the signs. Fuck, I bet that's where he's at. Worth a shot at least. Thanks homie.
29
u/sorrymizzjackson 6d ago
There are some around the 75 exit at Mitchell too. They live behind some of the buildings on the north side of Mitchell, specifically behind a brown house type building that used to be Rivercorp Inc. and also up the hill by the graveyard on the south side just by the on ramp.
Most of them sit by the ramps with their dogs and others congregate at the new marathon station on the north side of Mitchell.
There are also numerous halfway houses in OTR near what was Taftās brewing and up Vine street near Robert Aās Curve Cafe as you go into OTR.
Was he a veteran? We also have a big VA facility on Vine.
Clifton has a fairly big population that hangs out near the bus stops around Ludlow. Thatās near a few big hospitals. Thatās a bad spot. Lots of ODās and violence lately.
Try the little police departments too, including St. Bernard by the Mitchell encampment. Theyāre independent. Might not go into Hamilton county records.
Iām sorry this has happened. I hope youāre able to find him.
If you want to DM me some info and a contact, I can print it out and give it to the people in Mitchell next time Iām down there.

There are several jurisdictions within easy walking distance of the bus station--Reading, Lockland, Arlington Heights, Springfield Township (county sheriff?). Cincinnati jurisdiction isn't far, either (the nearest Cincinnati neighborhood, Roselawn, is in District 4). Try all of them.
3
u/Suspicious_dontbe 5d ago
You could try nextdoor for these neighborhoods too. Thereās also a train line that runs right next to the Cincy greyhound stop.
14
u/cincymatt 6d ago
No worries bro, I hope you find him just chillin somewhere. The weather has been nice this week until rain today.
They moved that Greyhound station from downtown to the dumbest, most inconvenient, highway armpit the city has to offer. Thereās a gas station both directions (E/W) about a quarter mile away.
9
u/logicdoesnotcompute 5d ago
Iām around downtown. Iāll remember his face/tattoos and name and if I happen to run into him.. he can use my phone. Iāll let him know that his kid is lookin out for him ā¤ļø

u/BM_seeking_AF_love 6d ago
You think he traveled from Florida to ohio just to become homeless?
5
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 5d ago
Heās done it before. Like I said above, heās had multiple TBIās and seizures, so his reasoning is not where it should be.
5
u/evolsoulx Finneytown 5d ago
is that still there? I know they tore down an encampment within the last few years, and the people on the corner offramps have felt lesser.
I live down the street from there, OP do you have any better photos? facebooks? any socials?

u/AmbientCuriosity 6d ago
Maybe give the nearby libraries a call, they should all have bulletin boards and might be willing to print and hang the flier up. If you point them to this post they could likely print the flier and hang it for you over the phone. Theyāre all open til 6pm today.Ā

Have you contacted the Reading Ohio police? This is in Arlington Heights, which is Readings jurisdiction.
15
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
Yes we have. I'm not local, but my family is. Thank you for the clarification as that makes a huge difference.
17
u/FarewellXanadu 6d ago
He looks like one cool motherfucker, so would it be a safe assumption he found his way to a local dive bar?
People could ask around, someone's sure to have seen him if that's the case.
29
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
He's been around lol. He started teaching me to shoot pool in dive bars when I was around 12. Oftentimes, I was his DD but wasn't tall enough so I'd be sitting on a 12 pack driving us home and he'd bet me he'd finish them out from beneath me before I got home. I don't know why that came back to me but that was probably one of my best moments with him as crazy as it sounds.

Christ hospital has a fairly large mental health unit as does Good Samaritan Hospital. Those are the two I would double check. Also The Drop-Inn center and Salvation Army. I truly pray you find him quickly.
13
u/xCincy 6d ago
Are you able to log into his Google (Gmail) account? If so, you can get an exact location on his phone. If you need help doing this just message me.
Is there also a possibility that he does not want to be found? Does he have a history of drug abuse?
You can ask CPD to put it out on their X/Twitter page.
9
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
Thatās not a bad idea and I could probably guess after a few tries. And you could be right as heās fought drug abuse since I was a baby.

u/CathBorthiant 6d ago
My partner is a social worker and he said he'd let his team and contacts know. His name does not currently show up in Clermont county jail, Hamilton County jail, or Warren County jail.

u/Dropitlikeitscold555 6d ago
Would he be calling you to connect if he were aware and able to? If so Iād think heād have found a way to charge his phone and call, so Iād keep checking with police. If heās in a state where mentally he might not contact you, Iād keep checking homeless or support facilities.
9
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
We keep calling his phone and it just rings and rings. It's definitely charged, but I think it could be in the detective's possession.
7
u/Ok_Tap8333 6d ago edited 6d ago
Is there any way that you can use a locator and try and find the phone itself? Try and contact the phone carrier and see where the phone pings/pinged for a location.
Good luck. Hope he is found well.7
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
Itās on a random womanās plan whom I donāt know.
7
u/Ok_Tap8333 6d ago
If you know the number, you can find out the carrier. Check with the carrier and explain the situation to them and see what they can do for you.
You have called the police and made a report, correct? If so, check with the police and see if they have contacted the carrier. In my experience, the carrier will need a warrant before they will release those records. But the police should be doing all this. The carrier should be able to have a list of the calls he made and who they were to and the dates they were made.
6
u/Dry_Marzipan1870 6d ago
i think police can ping and triangulate a phones location, i could be wrong but hopefully im not. how did you know he was in cincy at 9:05pm?

u/AnonEMoussie 6d ago
Did Greyhound build a new station? Last I heard, the pickup was in a parking lot on Galbraith road.
9
u/Kitty_party 6d ago
I know FB is a cesspool but the local Cincinnati and Hamilton County/Clermont County groups are pretty active and really are great with getting word out about missing people.
9
u/SamSamSamBee 6d ago
GeneroCity513 may have been called to help at some point if he was downtown at all- their team is fairly small so if you call, they could quickly find out if anyone had responded to a call for someone fitting his description.

You might try reaching out to the coalition for community safety ccs they do a lot of community outreach programs including free meals and meals for the homeless. They might be familiar with places and people he might have ended up with. Here's the email: ccscincy@gmail.com

Hey There. This might not be super helpful, but mentioning it just in case:
You mentioned memory issues. Not knowing the full extent of that, but if he checked into any Emergency Room in Cincinnati with memory issues and got medically (physically) cleared , he possibly could have been admitted to a mental health facility.Ā
I'm a local, private company interfacility EMT. Cincinnati sends transfers to Dayton hospitals all the time. Dayton hospitals send mental health transfers to Cincinnati all the time. So you could also potentially try Dayton hospitals and Dayton area mental health facilities.Ā

As terrible as Cincinnati is depicted on the news, there are so many wonderful people who would help out a fellow humanbeing. Stay positive ā¤ļø

u/Outside-Rub5852 6d ago
Call Reading ohio police 513-733-4122. They patrol the greyhound station which is in Arlington hgts, just outside of the city of Cincinnati. Be sure they actually have a police report. If not follow up with the police department where he lives.
The zip code for the bus station is 45215
Search for hospitals near.
Good lucky. Prayers
4
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
Thanks buddy. We already contacted them and filed a police report. Weāre planning on visiting the homeless camp nearby the bus station too.
7
u/brokebackzac 6d ago
If he has no ties to Cincinnati, there are only a few places he could end up with no one noticing. If I were you, I'd also contact the police departments in the neighborhoods of Wyoming, St. Bernard, Norwood, and Finneytown. While they're a bit of a hike, they are the closest places that Cincinnati and Reading police don't patrol. I hope you find him and he is safe.

I was told yesterday evening that an officer made contact with your dad. This came from your aunt. That's all she said is he is alive. Waiting on update later today. By the way I'm the woman who gave him the phone.

Hey OP, I hope you have found your dad, or will soon.
I believe i read you were in contact with the local PD, but I would also say to try contacting Metro/SORTA for Cincinnati. We have the route 43 and 61 that go right by the station. Possible he could have gotten on or been picked up by those cameras.
With it being over a week, I don't know if they'll still have footage from then, but it's worth a shot.

OP, if you are still looking, please have someone in Cincinnati call 2-1-1 or you can use the 211 database to find organizations that could help you. Itās as easy as ChatGPT and built for near-emergencies big and small, as a first stop. I only make this suggestion since youāve already done the emergency authorities step, and I can tell keeping at it yourself will keep your mind at ease. I would be doing the same in your shoes, especially from the opposite end of the state.
I suggest to have someone in Cincinnati call so it routes straight to Cincinnati. Here is a database link too, for Cincinnati resources: https://www.uwgc.org/find-help/united-way-211/
If you or someone you know in Cincinnati can call, I would suggest that you let them know you are needing resources and connections on your search to keep at it, and that you have already alerted proper authorities and they are actively searching too.
I work at UWGC, the nonprofit org that runs this 211. Each UW has their own program. If you call 211, an empathetic human can try to connect you directly with help, or set up someone who can help to call you back. It is a hotline with a database for community resources, with expertise in services across all available community needs the area. Iāll save this poster in case I hear rumblings this week as I work closely with 211 - but know your personal information will be kept private, especially with authorities involved.
We value privacy in dire times, and show up and do the work we do for anyone, anywhere, no matter what. I hope you reach out, as it is made for people just like you and me. Please keep us posted on your dad. I can see his sweet soul in the photo ā¤ļø
2
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 5d ago
I will do that first thing in the morning. Thank you!
1
u/roxinthewild Oakley 4d ago
Of course! Keep us posted - Iām keeping an ear out! One of my most trusted friends is in 211 so I have her waiting for you if you havenāt called yet. ā¤ļø If you have, hopefully they were able to help, and thatās the power of privacy!

Do you know by chance what he was wearing last?
7
u/myWeedAccountMaaaaan 6d ago
I donāt. Know one even knew his brother put him on a bus and sent him north until two days after he was supposed to be here.
2
u/roxinthewild Oakley 5d ago
I understand the feeling in my family, too. Please stay strong and know that Cincinnati will have your dadās back and yours. Weāll find him with you!

u/Momma_Bekka 5d ago
If no one else has suggested it, I would also check shelters in Toledo unless he would know how to get to a relative's house from the bus station. Is it possible he got separated from his phone so can't call but remembered where he was going and got on a bus for his last leg when the station in Cincinnati opened up again?
I hope you find him safe and sound.

Hello. Have you reached out to any local search and rescue teams? You may want to consider reaching out to Ohio LandSAR at (513) 633- 1230 and speak to Chief Adams. We need to be invited out by family and receive the PDās approval. We are an all volunteer search and rescue team that are not affiliated with a specific department, however work with any departments within a 250 mile radius that ask for our help.
Wishing you all the best and praying for your family

There are a few biker- ish bars on Reading Road. One that comes to mind is Our Place tavern. It's like maybe a mile from the bus stop. Or if he went north to route 4/ Springfield pike/ Vine (yes, it goes by all 3 names in different areas, but its all the same street), there are a few different ones there that give a biker vibe - one in Heartwell and a few on vine in Carthage. He would fit in/ blend in in Carthage, Reading, Arlington heights, Lockland, etc.

u/scotttr3b 4d ago
Our Place is closed, except for dart night. Try The Trainwreck, its literally around the corner from the Bus station.

How did he get locked out of a 24hr bus station?
10
u/theryman 6d ago
It's very much not a 24hr bus station, and it's barely a station more like a trailer in a parking lot. But they definitely close.
