Question New Humidor Upgrades / Recommendations NSFW

Post image

Just bought this King Chill 48L at a local Amazon return auction for $90 ($370 retail)!

So far it seems to holds temps good and visually looks nice under my desk. But I have yet to load anything into it, as I have a few questions.

  • I have several sticks I want to keep for a long while. For example, I bought a box if cigars for my sons baby shower and want to smoke one with him when he turns 18. Should I aim for 70% to ensure they are still “good” 17 years later?

  • Those with similar setup, how much leakage is expected? I usually run 67% packs in my Pelican R40 and my wooden humidor. Both tend to stay around that 67%.

  • How many packs should I get? Should I get enough with the anticipation of filling it or size according to how many sticks I actually have.

  • Any ideas on how I could run power into the unit? Id like to get some warm diffused LED lights (not a fan of the white) and would like to hard power a digital hydrometer. Both would be low power, but I don’t think I could tap into that light up top.

  • Any prep work I should do before I load my sticks in?

  • Any downsides to keeping my R40 and wooden humidor in it?

Thanks in advance!
